1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Nice form factor

Cons: There's very little support for this product and it is very unreliable. I'm using it as an access point to extend my LAN to wireless clients. I have to reboot this piece of junk every couple of weeks or else it stops passing traffic. Firmware update did not fix the problem.

Other Thoughts: Not a fan of this product or this company. I bought this on someone else's recommendation and now highly regret it.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't like no encryption

Pros: Great if you are using encryption.

Cons: I find that if you set them up with no encryption they lock up about every other day - even if set to reboot daily. Setting encryption seems to solve the issue. Newer firmware makes no difference.

Other Thoughts: I have a high failure rate on their own-brand POE injectors too.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, Solid, Business Class Access Point

Pros: 1. Small footprint, works with POE or included power supply. (If you need a POE, make sure you purchase the model with it included)
2. Decent signal and throughput.
3. Reliable and relatively little maintenance after setup

Cons: 1. Configuration will require some reading.
2. When clustered, does not pass off to other access points easily.
3. May require some maintaining.

Other Thoughts: An inexpensive access point for a small office with limited connections.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great !!

Pros: Strong signal strength. Smoke detector style All my devices connect to it apple, android, windows, and smart tv.
You are able to turn off leds and adjust power out at web interface.

Cons: Initial set up a little tricky. The default IP address is the same as my router.

Other Thoughts: Affordable Access Point. I was able to eliminate all of my other wireless points, (dlink repeater and wireless on my router) and use this only for all my wireless devices. Much easier than having the devices switch points from one side of my house to the other. I ran a cat 5e cable to the center of my house and installed the ap using a poe injector, the hardware was simple to put up. The software was a bit tricky at 1st but after a few attempts it was good. 1 month up time and great signal!

3 out of 5 eggsSeemed promising, but lately troubling

Pros: Good price for a business-class device, strong range, good speeds when working properly

Cons: After a few months of mostly trouble-free use, these things began giving us headaches that seem to be worsening as time goes by. During periods of high demand, they will often slow down or grind entirely to a halt (web and telnet interfaces continue working but they stop passing traffic to clients) and require a reboot. Firmware updates have not fixed the issue, which seems to be hardware-related.

Other Thoughts: We are using four of these in our public facility, positioned to cover the areas where people most often need wireless access. Unfortunately, once there are more than a handful of people actively using a given AP, it ends up bogging down or stalling entirely. This issue seems to depend on how much traffic each person is using; I've seen these things continue working normally with as many as 15 clients, and conversely I've seen them act up with only 5 or 6 people connected.

Because of the way our building is laid out, I can't see any way to alleviate this problem aside from replacing our EAP350s with more robust devices. Disappointing, but maybe we were just expecting too much from these relatively cheap devices.

5 out of 5 eggsProfessional Grade

Pros: Professional access point, not for beginners using wizard installers. It took me 15 minutes to get it up and running, and probably an hour to set it up the way I wanted. Great Job with this unit. Love the feature set. Zero downtime, best signal range i've ever had so far.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Do the firmware update right away like reviewers say. Just do it right away before anything else. Its easy.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy if you need more than one

Pros: 1. Good range
2. multiple vlan support

Cons: 1. No roaming capability whatsoever (Support verified that no roaming capabilities are built in to these units)
2. Engenius support is aweful (not just because they aren't U.S. based)
3. To get these to be stable, you must flash them to the latest firmware, change a few settings, then reset to factory defaults before applying your actual configuration. Not sure why.

Other Thoughts: I purchased 10 of these units to attempt to cheap out on a wireless deployment. While the units do have a pretty decent range on them, setting them up in a standard multicell configuration (neighboring APs on different channels using channels 1, 6, 11) yeilded aweful results in regards to roaming between the units. Calling Engenius support got me no where (they didnt have a clue what I was talking about) except being told the units don't support roaming.

If you are planning on purchasing one of these for use as the sole AP in a home, go for it, however if you are thinking you can deploy these in a multicell setup, save your time and $ and look else where. I'm not sure why they advertise these as being made for hospitals if they arent compliant with roaming standards in 802.11 specs - I've never seen a hospital that only needs one AP.

4 out of 5 eggsReliable, Low-Maintenance

Pros: Set-it and forget-it; no problems, zero dropouts (so far).

Cons: A little weird to install.

Other Thoughts: I used three of these to provide wireless connectivity in 40,000 sqft warehouse. Once wired and setup, I haven't had any problems -- the warehouse operates smoothly without any dropouts.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly

Pros: Works perfectly. The range is outstanding. Very easy to setup and works great with all the other access points we have at the facility. Will probably be replacing all the other access points with these due to the professional look and the low likelihood of them receiving user damage since they can be securely wall-mounted

Cons: Signal drop-off was a bit more than I expected throughout the building. That being said, it is probably just the architecture of the building because the signal that reaches outside is outstanding.
