5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: Works as it should. Connects with 3 Smartphones, 1 tablet, 3 laptops, 1 xbox 360, 2 desktops, 1 bluray player, 1 media center PC.

Cons: Getting it started took a few reboots of our Cable modem, but once it was up, there were no more reboots needed.

Other Thoughts: I work for a small rural ISP in the IT dept and we see all kinds of routers on a daily basis. I had went through a couple high end Linksys/ZyXEL routers ($180+ a piece) and decided to try something different. I am pleasantly surprised by this unit. I'm liking EnGenius so far. Not sure what others are reporting regarding games. I game on PC, son games on 360, Skype, wifi calling from smartphones, no problems at all with any of it so far. It can be difficult to find a router that multicasts well, this one is going good so far. I stream bluray rips from my desktop to the media center with no troubles.

3 out of 5 eggsA giant with clay feet

Pros: - Powerful signal
- Feature rich admin interface
- Solid WAN router

Cons: - Bad handling of multiple connected devices

Other Thoughts: I was planning to replace my old WRT54GL with the ESR750H, using the 5GHz band for streaming videos and the 2.5GHz for all other connected devices. Before even trying the 5GHz connectivity, it clearly appeared that the ESR750H would not be able to replace the WRT54GL for standard devices: with 5 connected devices, the WIFI was regularly dropping. With 10, the admin interface wasn't even reachable anymore.

I ended up keeping the WRT54GL to cater our standard B/G wifi devices, plugged behind the ESR750H, which acts as the main router connected to the Internet and also broadcasts Wifi over the 5GHz band for a single Cisco bridge in our rec room. With this set-up, the ESR750H delivers stable video streaming over 5GHz and acts as a solid WAN router for the rest of our network.

2 out of 5 eggsBummer

Pros: Great feature set.
Good router when it worked.

Cons: Stopped working after 3 months of use. Worked fine prior to that. It now refuses to see my Motorola modem. I can still connect to the router wired and wireless, but I have no internet access. Replaced it with my old router and everything now works fine again.

I've always had some minor loss of connection issues with this router. I've never had to re-boot a router more than this one. Towards the end, it had to be rebooted 1-2 time per week.

Other Thoughts: I bought this router in August of 2012 and didn't hook it up until 3 months ago. It was easy enough to set up and performed well in both bands. It has a great feature set. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it as I'm not confident in its longevity...Bummer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Wireless N

Pros: -great range
-easy setup
-easy admin interface
-works great with a Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3 from Newegg

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If using wireless N, make sure you educate yourself on which security protocols are NOT compatible with wireless N. You will limit your bandwidth/speed if you use a certain security security type in this router. I believe it it WEP and WPA (TKIP) are NOT compatible with Wireless N. Please research this.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat router

Pros: Great router Had a problem of my laptop restarting each time it started to connect to this router but not other routers. After hours of testing and changing setting found out that I had no problem if I remove the security. I then added security back and had the same problem. Turn out to be the store network connection for this router in xp. removed it and made a new one and it worked fine.

Cons: I would think they would set the tx power by default to 75 not 100. 100 higher than most would ever need and higher that any other I have seen

3 out of 5 eggsthere is a problem.........

Pros: Strong signal! Easy to use WebUi, with some exceptions : i.e. URL filtering with 'Family Safety’ protocol is not logical.

Cons: This Router now gets several wireless disconnects throughout the day based on the # of clients that link with it. I noticed that this started happening after I enabled the 2.4 GHZ band along with the 5 GHZ. It seems to like just running one band.

Other Thoughts: I have the latest 1.35 FW and it still does it!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Fast, easy to setup, good wireless range, reliable

Cons: Blinding blue lights.

Other Thoughts: This is awesome. I've been through numerous Netgear, Linksys/Cisco, Asus, Buffalo, and others over the years. This little router beats them all. Rock solid dependable.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent router, support sucks

Pros: Dual Band, Removable antennas, Range was slightly further then my Linksys 4200

Cons: Support is HORRIBLE. Opened a ticket cause my WIRED devices would lose connection until I rebooted the device. After weeks of the ticket being open and long waits between communication EnGenius support finally came to the "genius" conclusion that I need to check my wireLESS adapters and drivers... Really?

When asked to clarify how one was related to the other, considering there was no mention about wireless devices having this issue let along even connected, support then claimed they have done their "due diligence" and I should return the router.

3 out of 5 eggsRouter with potential

Pros: Removable antennas and good connectivity.

Cons: VPN server is a useless feature. I purchased this thinking it was a VPN client, which would be much more useful for the consumer market. How many people really need to run a VPN server from home? Also, the hardware is too new and third party firmwares have not been developed for it so you're out of luck if you want to set up a VPN link.

The Samba server works great with Windows but I was unable to get it to work properly with Android or IOS. I tried FAT, FAT32, and NTFS volumes, no go.

Other Thoughts: This is a good quality router that has a lot of potential but I don't think the software really takes advantage of the capabilities.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Dual Band

Cons: Wide and doesn't stand on end, Admin interface needs a UI experience designer, Something going wrong with routing

Other Thoughts: Wanted to switch away from the dlink and linksys brands of this world and saw that engenius had decent reviews. Setup was pretty easy, but after hooking it up, my network seemed to be... iffy. Sometimes it would go through fast, others it would have trouble with even DNS lookup. Hooked straight into the cable modem and internet runs smooth. Going to try Asus next.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have our dual-band router to be part of your network. As you pointed out the router got connected to the Internet right after hooked to a cable modem. It demonstrated it works well as an Internet access router. But the on and off wireless performance is an issue. It sounds like what you experience is caused by something in the environment such as Interference. Have you tried to see changing from 2.4GHz to 5GHz? EnGenius has a tool free technical support hotline 888-735-7888 x 519 where a team of technicians can assist you to trouble shoot the issue. Please feel free to call them.

Thanks,

EnGenius Technologies
