The EnGenius ECB300 is a 2.4GHz Wireless-N Indoor Access Point / Client Bridge / WDS / Repeater that features high transmit power (up to 29 dBm) for long range Wi-Fi coverage, wireless speeds up to 300Mbps. This high-powered AP/CB is designed to expand the number of users and devices that can access an existing wireless network within large or multi-story buildings or expansive, client-intensive facilities like hotels, resorts, hospitals, office buildings, universities or other multi-building campus facilities that need to offer employees, guests, staff or students access to network resources like printers, content or the Internet.

The ECB300 can be configured to operate in several modes – as a Wireless-N Access Point, Client Bridge, WDS Access Point, WDS Bridge, Repeater, or AP Router. ECB300 comes with dual detachable/upgradeable MIMO (Multiple In/Multiple Out) 5dBi antennas result in enhanced receive sensitivity and connectivity to access points and wireless clients even in areas where connections have been previously challenging or non-existent. For deployments on ceilings or in crawlspaces where power outlets may be scarce, the ECB300 is also PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) capable with compliant to IEEE802.3af.

The ECB300 also features industry standard wireless network encryption settings, like WEP, and WPA/WPA2, to protect the network from unauthorized access. For small-to-medium-sized office or larger corporate deployments the ECB300 also can be configured with MAC address filtering so only known and MAC address recognized client devices can access the network and unauthorized client devices can be isolated.

The ECB300 includes EZ Controller Access Point Management software that provides a robust suite of tools for IT managers, installers and network administrators who deploy, manage and maintain wireless networks. With EZ Controller, EnGenius Wireless Indoor and Outdoor Access Points and Client Bridges can be configured, controlled and monitored from one central location.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Device!

Pros: Purchased to use as an access point to supplement the weak signal from my 9850v2. Does such a good job in my 2 story home I have disabled the router wifi all together. Highly recommend this device to all user dealing with low signal strength.

Cons: Preset IP/gateway requires setting a PC to a static IP for initial setup. Not a big deal, but I can see why less tech savy users would find setting up the device difficult.

Other Thoughts: Should have bought this device years ago. Am ordering an additional one for the shop.

5 out of 5 eggsEgg on my face

Pros: none

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Apology to Newegg. Even though their RMA indicated a restocking charge, they refunded full amount for unopened units. Open unit had a charge. Cannot ask for more than that. They can't sell opened product for new, so restocking charge is more than fair.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None discovered as device was not implemented.

Cons: Preset network configuration., IP and net mask.
No software to discover and configure device on an existing network. Must take a PC offline, reconfigure TCP/IP to access ECB150. I spoke wit EnGenius tech support and they confirmed my issue. Paying Newegg a restocking charge to return three of these will take our business elsewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsNeeds to be rebooted several times a day

Pros: Small

Cons: Drops connections to my router constantly.
Needs to be restarted several times a day.
Setup isn't particularly easy.

Other Thoughts: I got this device to increase the range of my Trendnet wireless router. The first one I got needed to be restarted regularly to get consistent coverage. I thought it was bad and RMAed it. The replacement is even worse and needs to be restarted several times a day. I've tried setting it up in lots of different places, no dice. My guess is it's not playing nice with my router. Oh well, to FleaBay it goes.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: Does a very good job of picking up, amplifying and distributing a distant wi-fi signal

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Used this unit to "hitchhike" on a nearby wi-fi signal. iPad would not receive the signal at all. The ECB 150 not only picked up the signal, but in repeater mode amplified it up to 4 or 5 bars and made the signal available almost everywhere in my house...even the basement. Excellent performance for the buck.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Inexpensive, external antenna, easy setup.

Cons: Poor speed, weak signal.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as it was inexpensive and had very good reviews. Unfortunately, my 50d/5u internet connection is limited to 30d/5u on this AP, with the computer literally next to the antenna. There was no option to turn up the antenna gain, as it already operates at 100% out of the box.

I'm not returning, as I am using it as a secondary AP in a different part of the house in concert with the Cisco 4200v1 I was hoping to replace. Oh well.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple & Solid

Pros: It does a super job at what it's made for.

Cons: We didn't get one sooner.

Other Thoughts: Living in a hotel for a 2 year project and they refused us access to their wired network.
Have this set up as a wireless-N client bridge, and it feeds the WAN side of our router.
All LAN resources online and available.
23 users w/multiple connections each: no problem.

This thing just works, period.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Amazing
This thing rocks ordered one to set up my own network in the basement witch lasted for 3 days at witch point the wireless router crapped out and I had to turn this into a router witch I had no idea it could do until I looked it up. It’s a little complicated to use but hang in there and you will get it. The owners manual comes in handy and its in a pdf on the cd so you can save it to your computer for quick reference. The signal strength is impressive at 50% it can cover the entire house with it located in the basement. At 100% it will reach into are neighbors house. It has no problem being used as a wireless router and will run a ps3 for hours of gaming on wireless.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a high powered AP/CB. And in a pinch wireless router.

Cons: not gigabit

5 out of 5 eggsTo the point

Pros: If you need a straight AP or wifi bridge that is going to take a heavy traffic load this is the access point you need.
I've have put these AP's through hell and back using them as a quick duct tape backbone fixes and hole fill-ins for dead spots in WDS meshes. They are the Swiss Army Knives in my WiFi tech arsenal.

Cons: The only thing to improve ... and I quote Dilbert... it would have to have one big red button that comes pre-pushed from the factory.
A few extra watts would be nice but not necessary. Engenius used to have a 600mw AP in this class with a single antenna. But it was a TNC connector and antennas and cabling was kind of a PITA on it.
