5 out of 5 eggsGreat NEC, poor installion instructios

Pros: Very good speed from inside of an cabinet and about 50 feet from the router.

Cons: Installion is not easy at all, installed in a Windows XP machine: dropped the drivers in the Windows System32 folder, installed the software (do not restart) and then had hardware configuration find the drivers. It would not install any other way. Once rebooting got the BSOD and had to uninstall the software from Safe Mode. The card works great now. Use the windows wireless finder.

Other Thoughts: Got this NEC off of EB for only 8 and some change

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price and Great Linux Support

Pros: This works out of the box with Ubuntu 7.04 with the restricted drivers. It also worked out of the box with Fedora Core 6. I haven't tried it with Windows.

Cons: Signal strength seems so so.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these and they are exactly what I expected. A great Linux wi-fi card.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks good for a great price

Pros: This card has a great price, fast shipping (thx newegg) and if you know how to install pci cards, there are no snags, connects to my Fios 54mbit router just perfectly. Connects everytime when booted up and every time when you return from standby. Great alternative to running ethernet lines through the house.

Cons: somewhat weak signal strenght. It gets about three bars going about forty feet through one wall. i hope is still will get a signal on the second floor when our router is in the basement. still with the price, its unbeatable.

Other Thoughts: If you have windows XP dont bother installing the software that comes with the card. see if windows will detect it first (you may need to download the driver though). my XP didnt have a problem.

I would HIGHLY recommend this card. You should be happy with it. It may only connect at 3 bars but it still downloads files as fast as using an ethernet card. Summary: Great card Great Price

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent 108mbps card

Pros: A good deal! 108mbps, Vista support (Vista comes with drivers), nice build quality.

Cons: Drops my connection every once in a while when in 108mbps mode.

Other Thoughts: This card was super easy to setup in Vista. Windows XP installation was easy too, but I really don't think the installed wifi utility is really needed.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks fairly well

Pros: Cheap
Fast and strong connection at 108Mb/sec

Cons: Connection drops momentarily at intervals
Drivers are not exactly plug and play

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a cobbled-together media server. Following my usual practice, I downloaded the drivers from the website and installed them (though I discovered they're identical to the CD). Card installed, but couldn't connect. Wireless utility indicates strong radio connection, but wouldn't launch the configuration utility and couldn't get a DHCP addres. OK, my wireless SSID is not broadcast, so I thought I'd configure it manually--but the only encrpytion support was WEP, despite advertising to the contrary.

Short answer - turn off Windows Wireless management first, and make your SSID visible before installing the card; then the automatic installation routine will work properly.

Once working, the speed is good, but I find after I return to the machine after a few hours away that I'm in offline mode (offline files, etc). Annoying, but not fatal for the media server appliction I use this for.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy it, it works fine!!

Pros: Installed it, had no problems, works great.

Cons: None yet?

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure about this name brand, but it is working great! I would buy another one again, its a good price for what you get. It works better than the D-Link wireless adapter that I had before it went bad.

5 out of 5 eggsworks flawlessly with NetGear 624

Pros: I've had this little thing in 3 different computers now (Compaq, and 2 of my own home built rigs) and the only problem I had with it is that I had to open my computer's case to install it! (I'm Lazy) Supplied antenna is not as good as the one from my linksys wireless B card so I switched them and I het full signal and 108MB every time through 5 walls and kitchen appliances. I can transfer about 5.5 megabytes a second from wireless PC to wireless PC average although I have seena little under 10 from time to time. Your local neighborhood has a lot to do with your reception. Oh, and don't use 2.4ghz phones with these. Get 900mhz OR 5ghz phones and they wont interfere.

Cons: Not a freakin thing. This thing's cheap at a fifth of a hundred dollars...

Other Thoughts: BUY IT NOW DON'T HAVE DOUBTS. I have recommended this to my friends as a cheap alternative and they haven't had problems either.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm impressed!

Pros: Price! Works flawlessly. Nice black antenna, not a stupid grey one.

Cons: None yet, let's see how long it lasts.

Other Thoughts: Windows XP has a built-in driver that will work but use the one on the disk, it's better. I'll now buy a bunch of these!
