4 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine

Pros: Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Has support for WPA and WPA2. Can draw power directly from USB which is nice for war-driving or similar tasks.

Cons: Manual written in Chicken English (what else is new.... Why don't these companies pay some American college student $100 to proof read this stuff?). Power connector seems a bit flimsy, worried about it simply wearing out.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure why people keep saying you need a cross-over cable for client mode. The manual says you need a cross-over for ROUTER mode but I don't know because I connect it to an E-net switch that auto-selects. It comes with an Ethernet cable (straight-thru) that works fine in Client mode. Using it now! It also appears to retain its settings just fine when switching between modes. Are people getting bad boxes or are they just not clear on configuration? Client mode is odd because you have to manually set your PC's IP to configure the box then go back to DHCP on your PC to get an address from your AP.
Anyone try loading the D-link Firmware on here?

4 out of 5 eggsQuirky gadget

Pros: Small, lightweight, functional. I've used this as an AP and Router at clients sites to allow me roaming tech laptop access while I was there working.

Cons: Quirky!!! Found the DLink website for their version more helpful than anywhere else.

Other Thoughts: If your a tech or road warrior this is a good tool to have in your bag.

5 out of 5 eggsgood product

Pros: its an access point, router, and adapter all in one! its tiny and it includes usb power, ac power, a patch cable, product manual on cd,foreign adapter, and a case.

Cons: looses configuration when switching modes.

Other Thoughts: if your on the go this device is handy. being that you carry only one small device to do 3 tasks it makes service calls easier. YOU WILL NEED A CROSS OVER OR CROSS OVER ADAPTER to connect it to a pc directly in Client Mode.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh incompatibility or defective item. Zero customer service.

Pros: It is functional as a wireless router.

Cons: Following the manual it is not functional as "access point" or "client". The only functional mode is "wireless router". I tried two computers, same result. Sent emails to Encore customer service but it has been 10 days no response.

5 out of 5 eggsSame as Dlink DWL-G730AP

Pros: How about a plug it in and it works solution? This sure seems to be it at least in AP mode. As far as I can tell this is the same product as the Dlink DWL-G730AP and even has the same firmware version number, 1.10. AP mode was very easy and even though the AP default IP is 192.168.1.1 it worked out of the box plugging into my 192.168.100.x network however I had to change my notebook IP to the same subnet so I could configure WPA and such on it. I tried using it as a client but gave up after 10 mins, will try again later as it can't be that hard. Have not tried using it as a router but that was not what I bought it for anyway.

Cons: Setup is a bit strange and the client setup requires a cross-over cable which you should go ahead and order unless you have one.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use as a tech bench wireless network adapter for PC's that come in without wireless so I could connect them to our network without installing any new devices/driver in the PC. For that reason I need to figure out the client setup trick ASAP. The other reason for this was so when I go onsite at clients I can slap this puppy into the network and then work anywhere onsite with my laptop and hopefully even use Skype for those LD support calls.
