1 out of 5 eggsNot compatible with x64 (Windows)

Pros: Percieved Encore quality? I thought they were good!

Cons: - Not compatible with x64 operating systems!!
- Causes freezes, crashes, and BSODs on 2 desktops and a laptop using: Windows 7, 7.1, and 8.1.
- Followed advice from other reviewers and downloaded drivers from 3 different websites - none worked! Nor did the drivers on the CD!

Other Thoughts: Not willing to spend another minute of my life troubleshooting this junk - will just write off the cost. Obviously, it was open box for a reason = learned my lesson!

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: nice when it works

Cons: Honestly it takes a lot for me to give this low of a review.
it constantly disconnects, driver crashes, included software is a joke.

Other Thoughts: I have been working in networking for years and this is one of the worst adapters that i have ever seen

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Connects, once you get the proper drivers.

Cons: Included drivers are garbage. They cause regular blue screens. I got the drivers provided by the original chipset manufacturer and have no problems since. OEM site incase anyone else has this trouble:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat long range wireless

Pros: Quick setup, drivers for XP or Win 7, never drops connection with my Linksys router. Owned it 1 year and still going strong. I've used it across my laptops and desktops as needed. Wireless transfer of 300mbps seems almost as fast as my wired gigabit connections for large file transfers.

ENCORE website is easy to use and has drivers for this

Cons: Large size due to the external antennas but that is what is required for this kind of wireless range. No surprises since there is a picture of it before you buy it.
Drivers on the included CD are not the best: old
Best to download drivers from ENCORE website

Other Thoughts: Incredible range and speed compared to smaller USB adapters that cost the same. I bought a second one and both are still working great.

If space for other USB devices is a problem, buy a USB extension cable for two bucks!
(or order a micro-sized adapter with no range)

I often run this on a 6-foot USB extension at the hotel so the adapter can be closer to a window for better reception.

You can buy even more powerful antennas and install them on this small device! I love it! :)

2 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: It connects..... sometimes

Cons: - Continuously disconnects
- Always has problems connecting
- Not good for gaming
- I get booted 50% of the time
- Loves to time out just when you need it.
- design takes up so much room, almost 4 usb ports because of the cheesy design.

Other Thoughts: This reminded me why I like to hardwire.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: Long range with unsecured networks

Cons: Connection is erratic with secure networks.

Other Thoughts: I was very excited when I received this device in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately, it refuses to connect to any secure network for more than a few seconds.

This is likely a driver problem, so I have downloaded and tried several different drivers (from the encore website AND the disc that came with it), but to no avail. The networks are WPA and WPA2, AES. In the days I've spent trying to get it to connect by uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, rebooting, troubleshooting, disabling and re-enabling, etc., it has connected to the network TWO times for no more than fifteen minutes in total, and as arbitrarily as it connected (for no discernable reason), it disconnected again.

I don't have a lot of money, and really needed to take advantage of my Apts. free wifi this weekend, so I am very upset with this device, as my situation currently stands.
