5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it should

Pros: Connects to the network, no problems in use through Linux Ubuntu

Cons: Wish antenna would be longer since it's a card. It's obviously going on the back of the machine, so range can be limited somewhat.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable, fast WiFi

Pros: Fast performance, low price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Setup was easy and plug and play out of the box. Performs very well, and I'd recommend buying if you need a WiFi card.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't connect to the internet

Pros: It initially sort of worked.

Cons: Currently doesn't connect to the internet, period!

Other Thoughts: When I first used this device, I was able to get a solid internet connection with typical browser use and video streaming/downloading. However, with gaming, my ping would be below 50ms, but the game would freeze for 2 seconds once or twice a minute.

I tried reinstalling drivers for this device, and now it flat out doesn't connect to the internet at all. Don't buy this adapter.

2 out of 5 eggsWeak

Pros: Inexpensive

Was plug & play

Cons: Never obtains full signal even when within 15 feet of two different routers. The 3 different different USB adapters tested on the same machine provided much better signal strength. Installing the Encore drivers and trying a few different antennas did not improve things.

Other Thoughts: Sometimes a bargain is not a bargain.

3 out of 5 eggsSlow with mediocre strength

Pros: This was easy to install in a PCI slot, just plug it in and tighten 1 screw. Just keep in mind when picking it for a mobo that it is not PCI express, but old fashioned PCI. This works well for the price. I was already over budget on my pc game build, and I can't get a wired internet connection in my room, so I needed wireless starting day 1. Has an antennae on the back, which I like.

Cons: On start up, it is slow to connect to the internet. It takes almost a full 60 seconds on it's worst days, but the average seems to be between 10-15 seconds after start up. I have Win 7 loaded on a solid state drive, so everything else is ready in less than 10 seconds, so it's a noticeable lag. Wireless bar strength often gets 3 out of 5 bars or 4 out of five bars. I have never lost connectivity. However, when I jostle the case with my knee on accident, sometimes it will jostle the network card and I will lose internet until I tighten it again. It also does not fit perfectly in the pci slot, the slots are not standard pci shape. The driver disc that it comes with is also a little below helpful. I had some trouble getting the driver to work on the first run (I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it went fine after that).

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this card to people who just need wireless access, moderate internet game play and use. This is a great card for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsacceptable performance

Pros: good price, comes with cd and driver

Cons: ping is a little high when gaming, so there is a little bit of noticeable lag, but this will obviously depend on many factors like your distance between the router, the router your using, and other things.

Other Thoughts: acceptable signal quality, stays within 2-4 bars, usually 3 bars at about 30 feet away from the router and walls, signal strength is usually fair and sometimes can be good, but i have not seen it be excellent. im gonna see if the higher dbi gain antenna i ordered will help with any of these, hopefully better signal strength, lower latencies, and slightly better download and upload speeds. it uses a 2dbi antenna and an upgrade to like a 7dbi antenna which is the one im gonna be replacing it with will only cost you a few dollars.
