4 out of 5 eggsGood card (haven't been able to test gigabit tho)

Pros: The card works great on my dual athlon Tyan Tiger MPX board.
works great under linux 2.6 AND 2.4 using drivers from viaarena.com

Cons: Drivers were a bit of a pain to install at first for 2.6, but then they were updated.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried this card on a 32-bit slot, does anyone know if it WILL fit?

3 out of 5 eggsThe price was right

Pros: Both cards purchased are working nominally. Economically priced.

Cons: One of the two cards was a problem to get working. No known manufacturer support forum or knowledge base if problems arise.

Other Thoughts: I ordered two to update a pair of Tyan MPX motherboard based workstations. One system was fine immediately after the card and drivers were installed. The other took some head scratching, as it refused to connect reliably to LAN or Internet resources. After much searching for updated drivers without success (the newest were from 2004) the NIC finally started working after an uninstall, reboot, and re-install from Windows Device Manager. All is working now. The troublesome machine got an extra hard drive and a new video card as well, so perhaps a PSU upgrade is called for and it’s not the fault of the card, but the motherboard’s built-in Fast Ethernet continued to function normally even so.

In all, I'd recommend spending a bit more if you can.

4 out of 5 eggsdriver update

Pros: This is a great product!

Cons: if you are using windows xp, the driver that comes with the package is not any good and you should first go to the web site and download their updated driver for 2004. Just to save you some time

2 out of 5 eggshorrid support

Comments: If you've got a linux box running 2.4 on a 64bit architecture, stay away from this card. I was told, flat out, that linux was not supported by the customer support rep at Zyxel, when their page for this card and docs claim full support for linux 2.4 and 2.6. When I pointed them to their site, they simply didn't contact me further.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks on Linux 2.6.9

Comments: I am using it on my dual Athlon MP board and it works like a charm. haven't used it for gigabit transfers yet (only have one card) but will repost when I do.

Drivers kinda suck for linux 2.6 though and can be had from viaarena.com
Overall a good 64-bit PCI gigabit card, and cheap!
