3 out of 5 eggsWorks (mostly), but I wouldn't recommend it

Pros: Price can't be beat.

Cons: After using it a couple weeks, downloads started being corrupted (especially images on web pages). Disabling and re-enabling the connection fixed the problem, but it came back after a while; it seems to happen after anywhere between a couple hours and a couple days if left alone. Not a huge problem but pretty annoying.

Either the included utility or Windows can be used to configure the card. Their util seems to make my computer unstable & very prone to crashes. The Windows config works fine except for the corruption issue above, but it mysteriously stopped working on my home network (while the util still worked; this might have been a problem with something else, though--either way, I had to put up with crashes for a couple weeks until moving back to school).

Other Thoughts: No official support for Linux, but I managed to get it working using ndiswrapper. Haven't used it under Linux long enough to see whether the corruption problem occurs.

My card is apparently a G-302v2; I think they're selling a v3 now, and I assume there was a v1. The ZyXEL website doesn't really mention these distinctions at all.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: Low cost

Cons: Very poor reception and frequent disconnects. I updated the drivers and it still an extremely weak signal even though the router is close by. The software also seems somewhat buggy.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's ok, but distance not so great

Pros: I've used a Zyxel PCMCIA card for wireless for my laptop and never had problems, and the PCI card was cheap... cheaper than 100'+ of cable at least. Decent connectivity for the situation, though.

Cons: Possibly due... well, definately due to its situation on the floor behind a desk and next to a radiator, and being about 60-100 feet from the router, I get spotty connectivity. Def. get an antenna extension or upgrade if you are going to be using this card at distance or have you tower on the floor.

Other Thoughts: Get an upgraded antenna. Also, make sure YOU INSTALL THE SOFTWARE FIRST. That's probably what is causing all the fuss with negative reviewers... you can't just let XP run this installation and then power up your browser. Trust me, this is my second Zyxel card and I've been through that too.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal, great range.

Pros: Price of course. Range is great, not sure what happened to the people that said it gets a poor signal from "6 feet away" because It picks up 3 different APs at my brother's house. Besides, 6 feet = a job for wireless? Oh well, each to their own.

Cons: Only con I can think of is that you have to run their software. There didn't seem to be a way to just use Windows XP's included wireless network tool on it's own and I didn't see a way to install just the drivers and not their software. It's no big deal, but I like to have more control over things. After installing their software, you can use the Windows wireless networks utility.

Other Thoughts: I installed this card at my dad/brother's house and it worked great. They have the same router (Linksys WRT54G) as a friend of theirs that lives down the street (about 200+ yards/8 houses away) and it picks up the friend's signal with 4 bars. It picks up someone else's signal around there with only 1 bar, no idea where it's coming from.

1 out of 5 eggsLook out for computer lockups/memory leaks

Pros: cheap

Cons: There's a reason it's cheap. Installed this in a Dell Poweredge server that has been running fine for 1.5 years. after install, getting errors that the zyxel memory resident utility terminated several times per day. Computer is totally locked. CTRL-ALT-DEL returns an error that it can't run. Cold boot is the only option. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling and same prob. Disable NIC and go back to 10/100 and server runs fine all day. Signal strength is pathetic even with wireless router within 6 feet.

5 out of 5 eggsGood WiFi adapter for a desktop

Pros: Great price. Easy installation, as long as you read the installation directions carefully. Works at tops speed 99% of the time.

Cons: Not much to report here.

Other Thoughts: Make sure your computer has an open PCI slot before you buy this card. Also make sure you have a wireless router to connect to before you buy this card. By far a good buy for a simple internet connection. NEWEGG ROCKS!

1 out of 5 eggs$$$Wasted$$$$

Pros: Price

Cons: Doesn't work, I know what i'm doing I installed it correctly and even searched for better drivers. I'm litterally next to the router and have a poor signal. let alone in the other room where I wanted to put it.
