3 out of 5 eggsdude c'mon

Pros: no opinion

Cons: no opinion

Other Thoughts: Ok supposedly the other guy knew about the bugged Realtek gb nic's ahead of time, but bought this one off of NewEgg anyways even if you look at the picture you will see the RealTek crab as plain as day. The problem is NOT ZyXEL it is purely in the chip manufactures and rarely does anyone now days do much more than repackages the chip/chipset manufactures drivers from the reference source. _IF_ the chip line is having problems avoid ALL manufactures that use that chip. There is very little to no chance the board manufactures will fix the bugs or even can fix them.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work

Pros: It has three LEDs indicating link speed, 10, 100 and 1000.

Cons: I read alot of other reviews on the slightly cheaper generic Gigabit NICs that have the RealTek chipset. I figured I would avoid that problem and go with a name brand adapter. I remember ZyXEL from back in the day, they made pretty good modems, so I figured this would be a good adapter.

Well, it turns out, it uses the same RealTek chipset as the other two cards on this site. The drivers are horrible, and in two separate machines, three switches, and even a brand new installed OS later, I couldn't get the card to work.

The driver would load, and no matter what, the NIC would say it was connected at 10 Megabit, and never acquire a DHCP address. Even if you hand entered a fixed IP it would not work on the network.

Other Thoughts: Maybe it's a bad card, but based off of the reviews on the generic cards, it sounds like you should avoid the RealTek chipset.
