ZyXEL GS105B Gigabit Ethernet Switch with Metal Housing & Green Energy Saving Technology 5-Port

Pros: Usually fast enough, small, runs cool

Cons: Streaming 8Mbps DVB feed over UDP. IP Packets are broken into ~10 1.5kB fragments. This switch caught the 1st 1 or 2 fragments of each group, occasionally another, and dumped the other 70-80%, causing nearly 100% packet loss.

Pros: Inexpensive, simple, well made, fast.

Cons: Drab appearance.

Other Thoughts: Writing a review of a product like the GS105B is like reviewing a really nice bolt. It's made of quality steel, is strong, has a quality finish, and is reasonably priced. Pretty exciting stuff, heh? The GS105B is most certainly not exciting - that is unless you get off on really well designed, rugged, made for purpose and reasonably priced hardware. Color me excited - and very pleased with this purchase.

Pros: Why get a little 5 port gig switch? Even if you only need 100, buy this have what you'll need for the future -- won't be getting any slower.

Metal case, silver, rubber feet.

Cons: No color coding of flashing lights to tell you 100 vs 1000. No biggie.

Other Thoughts: Using this in office to connect my workstation to my laptop for faster file transfers and backups. No special tweaking and it runs at 89% of 1000 just using windows exp to transfer files. Remote desktop is snappier, too. Would be good if I had a gb NAS also.

Pros: Metal box is a nice touch. 5 equal ports make this a plus one solution. Note: this is not a router and does not have a WAN port as one reviewer said. I've been using this for a year and just bought another one. No issues whatsoever!!

Pros: Small, cool running, lights on front, ports in back.
It has 4 ports on lan, 1 on wan - typical small switch.
It is very small, just plugged and played.
Giga speeds, while I haven't benched it or anything, seem very reasonable: keeping up with the HDD's

Pros: Purchase three of these devices plugged them into wall and network and they scream through the data. Could not be happier and received quickly. I would recommend them.

Pros: So much smaller than I expected. Metal chassis feels heavy and sturdy in the hand. All ports are Auto MDIX.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a 10/100 hub (yes hub, not switch) so I can get GbE speeds. Noticed the expected throughput increase when copying large files. What else can I say? It works great and is built great.

Pros: Worked out of the box as advertised

Pros: Tiny. Super high quality metal box. Uplink port distinct from other four ports. Unbelievable throuput.

Cons: Plug for external ac adapter seem vulnerable, as if it could pop out. It certianly feel like a qulaity fit but it woud be nice it it could have been retained someway, like with a tab in the metal case that the cord could have been zig- zagged through for retention.
