Easy Setup and High Performance for HD Video Streaming:
The powerline solution simplifies network setup by turning the existing power lines into a high-speed network. Just plug a PLA-407 with Ethernet link to a broadband modem into the power outlet in one room, and plug another with link to a PC or any devices requiring Ethernet connection in the other rooms, you can easily and instantly connect to the network without laying complicated wiring at home. With advanced HomePlug AV technology and data transfer rates of up to 200Mbps*, the PLA-407 provides users with stable and high-speed network environments to enjoy HD video streaming and sharing.

5 out of 5 eggsTrue plug and play!

Pros: Painless setup. Just connect the devices and your set. There is no software to install.
The speeds are better than my wireless connection.
It was cheaper to buy these than replace my failing wireless repeater.

Cons: We have a touch lamp plugged in on the same wall that this device is plugged into. The device affects the intensity of the lamp in that it will cycle from off to full brightness and everywhere in between when data is being sent/received. Perhaps the device is changing the capacitance. Anyways, I just unplugged the lamp. Not worth taking an egg off in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: Get one, the price is good, and it's nice not to have to rely on wireless.

1 out of 5 eggsBrings Down Entire Network

Pros: It supplied a wired connection for approximately 1 hour.

Cons: It completely brought down the network. I was getting alright speeds, slightly lower than my normal wireless connection, but that was to be expected. After running my connection off of this adapter for an hour my router stopped working. My computer was able to detect the router, but the router was not able to connect to the internet. I had to perform a hard reset on my modem to get my router back up and running, and I am now running off of a wireless connection again.

Other Thoughts: The router I was using is a standard 2wire router provided by AT&T when they set up your internet service.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazingly Enough

Pros: Simple, installed at router, then installed at laptop. Connection is stable and about 30% faster then the secured WiFi i was using. Might have taken 5 minutes to install 2 boxes and the 2 included cat 5 patches.

Cons: None that I've noted thus far.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says

Pros: Managed to allow me to put up an additional AP in my home where I would have needed to run 100 ft of either in a house built back in the 20s. The speeds are nice and consistent for fulling data across the wire from my test lab.
Have you seen the price, buy 2!

Cons: Documentation is lacking. Latest firmware update is from 2010 though I suppose that means they found no other way to improve the product as its working just fine. Its large

Other Thoughts: My house is 2700 sqft (less the unfinished basement) with plaster and latte as well as brick walls. MY router sits at one end of the house and at the other is my Den. Never could get a consistent signal there. Converted my old router to an AP and used these an I'm good to go. I may buy another set and use it for the 3rd floor and more my server lab up there to make the wife happy.

5 out of 5 eggsPlease with the results!

Pros: Easy to set up and sync, Works with just about every device I've thrown at it with no problem, No need to be a 'techie' to configure -- just plug-in, sync, and you're good to go.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this device initially to run an Xbox 360 device that didn't have the built-in wifi. Worked great. Could stream movies (Netflix) and play Xbox Live (primarily the Halo games with Live), and the only problems I ever encountered were a result of the cra**y Frontier service, not the device. Since then I continue to use it for the Xbox, and well as a internet-enabled Sony blu-ray player. And once again, it works flawlessly. Works fine with a switch too.

I've had the device for about 20 months now, and I give it two big thumbs up. I paid considerably more than what the current price lists for, but I still feel like I've gotten my money's worth from the product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat idea

Pros: Actually works

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Used it to connect router in basement to a second router on the second floor (yes its a big house). Took a while to configure the second router, but the power line adapter was no problem.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Didn't know such product has advanced so much. The building have places where WDS wireless router could not reach or the speed just too slow to connect. Bought several of these and put it all in network. Works great.

Cons: The advertise speed is for reference only. They should really tell you what speed you can expect not some lab number. I can not even compare the 200 with those 300.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Awesome

Pros: This device is awesome. Super easy to install, setup and use. If fact there was no setup, Plug it in, connect ethernet cable to it and router. Plug in other unit, ethernet to it and PC and done. Device even works when plugged into surge protectors and long (25") extention cord in my garage. Simply awesome. Looks good to. Only thing I might have added was an on/off switch.

Cons: None except maybe the price, however I got a pait of them when they discounted it $30 then another $50 during a super sale. At my price of $40 for a set, $80 for 2, best money I ever spent with how happy I was with the product.

Other Thoughts: Quick mention worked flawlessly with Netflix through a surge protector to a Blue-Ray clear across the house. The fact that with device works through multiple surge protectors and long extension cords across long distances and so easy to setup and use was amazing.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 1. Worked right out of the box, absolutely 0 configuration. Less than a one minute setup.
2. Lost cost.
3. 25Mbit write , 65Mbit read on 100mb test file and 25Mbit write, 75Mbit read on 20mb test file using lan speed test. Same tests on Wireless N resulted in 21Mbit write, 21Mbit read.

Cons: Bigger than expected but it doesn't cause any issues. Since it includes a passthrough I'm able to still plug 2 things into the outlet.

Other Thoughts: I noticed some complaining about performance that live in apts, not sure if that's just old wiring or what. I built my house in Nov 2009 and am pleased with the speeds I'm getting. So for anyone with a newer home I wouldn't worry about the negative reviews you read, however ymmv.

Certainly not even close to as fast as the gigabit I have wired to most of the rooms, but for those odd places that I didn't pre-wire this seems to work well.
