1 out of 5 eggsPoor Performance

Pros: I've used Zyxel routers for years and have never had a problem. But from my experience with this router and other comments I've read here about it, I'm going to have to reassess my continued use of Zyxel products. It appears that Zyxel has gone down the same cheap outsourcing route that most of the other tech hardware companies have taken. Zyxel was a brand name that used to be synonymous with good quality. Now its just another product label that is made by the cheapest outsource manufacturer. And next year it will be made by another cheap outsource manufacturer that underbids this year's manufacturer, and the quality will go down even farther; cheaper made parts, lower quality control, etc, etc.

Cons: I upgraded from the 419N. Going back to it. This router constantly drops internet connections (2 or 3 times in a night. Can't even watch a Hulu program). It losses track of the name server and can't get it back. Have to reboot the router to get it working again. I know its the router because when a disconnect happens I can unplug from thr outer, plug directly into my cable modem and have internet access. The 4615 came with the latest version of ROM software. A waste of money.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Work ok when it did. I waited till now to write a review.

Cons: After 8 month of usage this device fails each day. Since about a month ago my wireless computers will show connected by web pages can't be display. Each day it would get worse. Last week I updated the firmware and it ran fine for about 5 days till it looked up. No wireless LED and I had to power cycle. Going to contact Zyxel tomorrow and get this thing RMA

Glad I had my old linksys WAP54G which never had wireless problem and always solid connection. Now it's back up in place of the zyxel. The reason I got it so I can have faster speeds of wireless N.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well in our application

Pros: Reliable
reasonable, low cost for the features
gigabit LAN
USB port allows network printing which we found to be transparent to the user, reliable and trouble free

Cons: none for us.
This is not a negative but if you are using NBG 4615 as a Wireless Access Point with another device acting as the DHCP server you might want to change the range of IP addresses in the IP address pool used by the DHCP server in order to simplify some operations eg remote management of the NBG 4615 and wireless printing. The NBG 4615 manual has an appendix with the most complete and understandable discussion of IP addressing that I found anywhere including internet articles and a well regarded LAN text book.

Other Thoughts: USB network printing requires installation of software which is trouble free. We just installed the SW on all our PC's. To the user it appears the printer is attached directly to the PC's USB port. If you have an all-in-one you can even scan. If your printer allows you can check the ink supply etc, etc. We use it as a Wireless Access Point so the DHCP function is turned off. That may account for the outstanding reliability. In the past our wireless routers also acted as the DHCP server - so the comparison is not apples to apples. But we have had no network downtime that can be attributed to his unit - after several months of 24/7 use - outstanding performance.

2 out of 5 eggsLacking in range.

Pros: Good speed if you're within the small coverage area. Logging into the router, you can choose easy mode or expert mode. In expert mode, you have the ability to tweak and configure pretty much anything you need to. ZyXEL has great support for their products.

Cons: I bought this router to replace my aging ZyXEL X-550 which was starting to act up. (It's starting to exhibit the typical failing power supply symptoms again.) I have always been very pleased with the router, and I fully expected that this new one would be everything the X-550 was and more. I was wrong...
The primary problem with this router is that the range is pretty terrible. A few devices with N cards in them now had no signal, where they had previously had fairly decent reception with the X-550.

Other Thoughts: After several hours of tweaking settings, adjusting positions, and trying high gain antennas to no avail, I broke down and orderred a replacement power supply for my X-550. Once it arrives, this new router will go into the closet as a spare. As a rule, I like ZyXEL products. However, I cannot recommend this one. I can't justify losing coverage when upgrading from a 5+ year old G router to a new N router.

2 out of 5 eggsRe-Review USB - Fails

Pros: I reviewed this previously and the router does it's job, but to an extent. It is not worth the price it is going for now, especially since the CISCO Linksy's E3000 is going for less and is quality product (purchased this in the place of the ZyXEL).

Cons: The cons have increased for me. The problem with this router is the USB was not only an issue for connecting 1 client at a time, but it simply stopped working. It would NOT let me connect my drivers anymore. This feature is not fully functional, and i highly recommend getting another router if this is why you wanted this one.

Other Thoughts: Look for the daily deals on Cisco. I purchased the E3000 in this ones place and i'm totally satisfied. I can map my drive to my pc's for my cloud storage on the USB.

4 out of 5 eggsCould've been better

Pros: 1. Has all the bells and whistles listed on the specs.
2. The connection is fast (noticeably from my junk net-gear router)
3. Accepts my Cat6 cables like a champ.
4. It's nice having switches for WAN, and Power.
5. Has 2x USB port.
6. Simple to setup, and has better UI than most i've seen.

See Cons...
Router specs/features fail to mention that 1 pc can be connected to the USB storage drive at a time, and requires software for USB use.

Cons: 1. USB only allows one system to be connected to the drive (i have not tested printers yet, just storage drives).
2. Requires software installed for USB to function.
3. Makes you connect MANUALLY each time you want to access the USB storage device.
4. Cannot kick off the other computer that is using ie. you dont want to get up and walk over to the other pc, login, and accept the request for the other to take over the device.

I have Western Digital mass storage device plugged in. If i try to access this drive over the network when another PC in the house is connected to it the software lets you ask for access. Why is it not setup to allow anyone to access? This is horrible. The speeds should not matter unless your streaming multiple videos. In that case you should realize it's laggy and kick the others off. Point is this device would be better if it had the ability to allow multiple access to the drive instead of 1 at a time, and at least allow you to kick of other machines

Other Thoughts: Thought of replacing with TP Link but the price is similar and i don't want to risk the same problem as this. If i knew of a router at this cost that would allow multiple connections to the storage device connected to the USB i'd like to know in the SPECIFICATION that this is a feature that customers need to know about.

4 out of 5 eggsZyXEL NBG4615

Pros: 1. Got this puppy at wally world for less than what you see here. I like this little router. The range seems about the same as my Linksys business router so not sure how good that is.

2. The software looks nice and all ports including the wan are gigabit.

3. You get two usb ports where you can plug a printer and an external drive.

4. Actual switches to turn the wireless off and the actual router too! Both on the back of the router.

Cons: 1. The printer usb software only works on Windows and Mac at the moment. I need Linux, but it doesn't exist, at least not yet. So trying to print through this with Linux at the moment is useless. I even hacked my own Y usb cable to see if I could trick this thing to see the printer after trying a usb hub, but no dice. Huge downer because of this. But again, if all you have is Windows it seems to work great. Software doesn't work on Wine either.

2. I would like to see more ports on these home routers, like maybe 6 ports. Even with all the wireless stuff I still like to plug a few things here and there specially when you have a lot of interference. Keeps you sane.

3. I have a nas, but printing from its usb printer port can be a pain so I'm now back to using my old usb 1.1 print server to print from Windows and Linux. I had to call it a day after spending all that time trying to get those two to play from the built in usb ports on the router.

4. No VPN, shame this being gigabit.

Other Thoughts: Firmware 1.00(BWQ.1)C0 has a bug, but just make sure you double check your setup to make sure it stays with what you set it as.

5 out of 5 eggsDispointed to wifi range

Pros: 1000m LAN ports, 2 USB ports to share printer and external HDD, well made, looks fashional, cheap price, very easy to config.

Cons: Wifi range is very limited, much worse than my Dlink DIR-615. Share center utility for USB connection cannot go though AVG antivirus firewall
No matter how I tried to make 7417 port forwarding.

Other Thoughts: Have not try connecting and sharing printer yet.

4 out of 5 eggsZyXEL NBG4615

Pros: Fast setup and great speed at my internet account of max 30Mbps - tested at speedtest.net. Setup is very simple with nice firmware. I would recommend it.

Cons: No n only network but uses b,g,n mixed but is not a problem.

No Mac support for USB peripherals which is a shame. I can see my external USB drive plugged into router, from my Win 7 laptop but not from my iMac.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend it.
