2 out of 5 eggsStarted out great

Pros: Inexpensive, flexible

Cons: After 4 months of ownership and no configuration changes, the unit started to have wi-fi throughput and connection issues. I tried different cables, different locations, and different channels but the unit will not perform as it did when new. Ping an throughput is now slow and erratic. Sometimes I can even get to the configuration screen via wi-fi even though my computers say I am connected to its SSID.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this since its performance degraded after 4 months.

1 out of 5 eggsAs a "Client" ( Network extender), keeps falling off the network and needs a physical power cycle...

Pros: WHEN it works, it works OK.

Cons: I've RMA'd one already for the problem where it'll work for a few days or so, then falls off the net and needs a hard power cycle. Since the second one is a turkey too, I've given up.

4 out of 5 eggsWork fine as APs to cover whole house

Pros: Relatively easy to configure.
Updated firmware, so still being maintained
Pretty good range
Performance is pretty good since most of my devices are Wireless N only.
Cheap on sale

Cons: Range isn't great - I expected more with the size of the external antennas. Range is about the same as the device replaced (without AP function) with only internal antennas.
The button to turn off LEDs is a good idea, but it does not turn off the Ethernet port lights.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these as access points (on main floor and upstairs) with the same SSID as my main router (basement) and they do a good job of covering without any dead spots. Only used as AP, did not test Repeater or Range Extender. Seems to handle hand-offs as you move around the house without a problem. Had issues using routers as AP with the same SSID in the past, but these seem to work fine.

1 out of 5 eggsRange is disappointing

Pros: Was $19.99 Shipped
Decent interface
Multiple modes
Multiple SSID options

Cons: Disappointing Range
Worse range than 10 year old WRT54G router
Having to spend time researching high gain antennas in order to make it actually useful to me

Other Thoughts: I bought this to eliminate the second router I had on my home network that I used solely for getting wifi out in my garage. The router was a WRT54G (old blue linksys that I had to power cycle at least once a week now).

This access point has poorer range than wireless router manufactured over 10 years ago. I'm not sure if it's a knock on the device or a bragging right for Linksys

Worth noting the garage is less than 50 feet away and I get nearly no signal from a device positioned nearest to the house from the garage. The access point sits on the wall nearest the garage.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Wifi Repeater/Access Point

Pros: * Can be used as a wireless access point or a repeater.
* Has two Ethernet ports that can be used in either mode.
* Interface is consistent with other ZyXEL products.
* I can now use high speed wireless on all three floors of my house at speeds of up to 300Mbps.
* Has additional SSIDs; I have mine set up to go nowhere. They are just there for the neighbors' enjoyment. ;)
* My wife no longer asks me to "fix the internet".
*Great piece of equipment to have if you are streaming games.

Cons: * The antennas are fragile. Don't drop the box. I had to replace on of my units due to my own stupidity.

Other Thoughts: I want a cheeseburger.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great as a wireless client

Pros: Very versatile unit. Can be an AP, Repeater, or Wireless client. Easy to set up with provided instructions. Very good range and sensitivity. Hooks up very well when used with a Zyxel wireless router (I used a NBG4615v2 wireless router with this unit and they work very well together)

Cons: Only 2 LAN ports when used as a wireless client.

Other Thoughts: I tried the WPS function between this unit and the NBG4615v2 wireless router. They connected instantly and have been working great for at least a week now.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed within 6 months

Pros: Was reliable until it failed.

Cons: I basically use it as an access point. I own 3 of these and this one just failed within 5 months of owning and an older version failed after a year and it while the other is still running strong with fast ups and downs. This one that failed has drastic reduction of speeds.

Other Thoughts: I'm gonna do more research before purchase another replacement.

4 out of 5 eggsFits my Needs

Pros: It was easy to set up. I plugged in an Ethernet cable and went on to adjust the settings as an universal repeater and moved it to the location where I wanted it.

I eventually decided to change it to an access point by routing a Ethernet cable to the location where I wanted the router.

Cons: As an UR, it was kind of slow, giving 2- 8 Mb/s download speed. As an AP, it was giving speeds of 40 Mb/s (my maximum wire speed is 60 Mb/s).

The only con is the range is very short. It gives approximately 10 feet radius of full strength wifi signal.

Other Thoughts: My ASUS RT-N66U has much better range giving roughly 20+ feet of maximum wifi strength. However, the maximum speed ASUS gave was approximately 25-30 Mb/s.

4 out of 5 eggsWAP3502v2 Needs Latest Firmware Updates

Pros: I have had two of these working in the universal repeater mode and found they work a whole lot more smoothly at Firmware Version:V1.00(AAEX.3)C0 or later if one comes out after this current one. Setup is much easier now that I am at this version. Set your setup PC to a fixed IP of and you can access the WAP at Use the EaZY123 script up in right hand corner of admin screen to setup values. First fields are for the router information you are connecting to and second screen is for the SSID and password of the WAP.

Some have noted conflicts with the 192.168.1,2 IP address for the WAP but it does allow you to change that in the Configuration, LAN tab.

Cons: Some have noted conflicts with the 192.168.1,2 IP address for the WAP.

4 out of 5 eggsgood device, needs a bit more

Pros: works, have had zero problems with the device and really no need to push any ROM updates at all. covers a decent range; however, with all the stuff I have in my house and the walls, reach the back rooms get signal drops to half without the use of some fabricated parabolic antennas on the receivers

Cons: even though it supports 300Mbps, all the ports are 100Mbp Ethernet.. so if you plug it into a Gb switch or hub, the max your end points will get is... 100Mb (shared).. so yes, a slight under-sighted approach.

Other Thoughts: please consider adding 1000Mb support on the Ethernet ports for uplinks and bridging.
