5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Won this in a contest from Zyxel USA. It's been my main router for several months now with 0 hiccups. Using a 125 meg connection from Comcast and a bit of file sharing. Obviously handles 125 megs without issue. Like some of the live traffic monitoring features.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: Originally there was some bugginess with disconnecting with my OnePlus One, but I think that was a OPO issue and not the Zyxel router as it stopped after an OS update.

2 out of 5 eggsNO NAT Loopback

Pros: Very Stable, Fast DHCP server, Moderate usable signal distance.

Cons: Does not support nat loopback and does not advertise as much.
only useful as an access point and dhcp server.

Other Thoughts: After being left unable to return this item and with an upset customer. Zyxel lost my business.

If there are any reps available, i would please like the opportunity to return this item for at least store credit. I will have no use for this item, ever.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good router

Pros: Fast. Dual band. Easy menu to set the low band to n band for a the phones without getting weird. Led lights don't attract moths like the n__tgear one I returned did. I can actually sleep with this one in the room. It even has a button to further darken it. All in all, this is a very, very good router and I am keeping it.

Cons: It is very big. And yellow on black. With 4 antennas. Wow. Big. I guess I can't complain about that though with performance like this.

Other Thoughts: When you buy an ac router, you have to understand that non ac equipment will get weird speeds. I know it is supposed to switch, but I am telling you, my speeds are sweet as long as I connect to the right signal. The 2g set to N for my phones and the 5g band set to N for my PC. An AC wifi card is next on my wish list for my PC. Then I will switch on the ac mode of the 5g band. Anyway, I got to tell you, I stated with a leading brand. It sucked. And it was an 1800ac. So I returned it and bought this. And the moral of the story is, always buy from newegg. They made the return simple, with a printed postage label. Didn't cost me a thing. Bye bye, n__tgear. Anyway, this router is streaming movies to my daughter while I play online speed action games without missing a beat. My wife was even running pandora at the same time the other day. No hiccups.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Very fast WiFi and wonderful coverage. This modem is also very configurable and has bandwidth management features that allows the user to prioritize devices to determine which devices deserve more bandwidth. It includes "Easy" configuration mode and "Expert" configuration mode...it's great for both novices and experts.

Cons: Very limited documentation available for this router on the Internet. I researched this router prior to purchasing it, but I found very little information available and was a little apprehensive about making the purchase. It was pricey; but it was also one of the fastest routers available at the time of purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Router

Pros: Both the 2.4 and the 5.0 radios work perfectly without phantom drops and reconnects. Log into the router for a detailed status view that even shows you what speeds the ports are connecting at... for example my server showed at 1000M on port 1 and my Apple TV showed connected at 100M on port 3. Cool as hell. It has a visual representation of the CPU and memory usage percentages. The network monitor visually shows connected devices and real time bandwidth usage stats. So you can identify talkers immediately. The bandwidth priority lets you visually sort from top to bottom what you want to have the most priority. I'm thoroughly impressed with the menus and functionality of this router. I've played with a lot of routers and this one is neat as hell.

Cons: The upgrade firmware by Internet feature failed. I had to manually download and unpack the bin and use the "upload manually" feature. It started to upload and then stopped for no reason. I tried it a second time and it worked. I'm guessing it was a safeguard or something that caused the first one to abort. No big deal as it eventually worked.

Reboot time is 119 seconds, however the countdown is extremely accurate. Again, no big deal.

NAT loopback is not enabled and I haven't figured out how to enable it on this model. This means that for anything that you have port forwarding enabled, you have to use the internal address (or edit the host file) in order to hit internal resources. I thought the forwarding wasn't working because of that, but eventually figured out what was going on. The port forwarding actually works perfectly without reboot.(so the many 119 second reboots weren't even necessary) I'd like NAT loopback activated but again I can live without it for a solid router such as this.

The router is very light. I expected it to have some weight to it. I wish the case was metal like business class equipment generally is but I can live with it. It looks nice and sleek at least.

Other Thoughts: I usually use business class equipment but wanted a combo Gigabit/N/AC router without breaking the bank. I tried the $300 big red space ship router (name brand starts with a D) and it had phantom disconnects/reconnects on the 2.4 band even with the most recent firmware and factory reset. JUNK in my opinion! I can't stand when something doesn't work 100% of the time.

I've had multiple horrible experiences over the years with the ole blue routers (u know the ones that start with L) so I won't even consider them anymore.

So I finally decided to try something new... ZyXEL. And so far I'm not only satisfied, I'm very impressed. If this router stands the test of time I'll start to buy this brand professionally.
