WatchGuard XTM 2 Series appliances deliver a new class of performance-driven security. Network protection is stronger than ever, with full HTTPS inspection and VoIP support. All models have three 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports for faster link speeds, and optional wireless capabilities include dual-band 802.11n technology for greater wireless speed and responsiveness.

An XTM 2 Series appliance can be used as a stand-alone security solution for a small business, and makes an ideal endpoint for connecting a secure VPN tunnel back to a WatchGuard XTM or WatchGuard Firebox network.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Does everything I want and more. This device provides security for several of my clients and is extremely easy to configure. I have several using the VPN feature and it always amazes me how easy it is to build each tunnel. I have several servers and multiple VPNs with VOIP, SQL, and several robust water programs running through these VPNS. 6 branch offices and several people who work from home.

Cons: I have not found anything I did not like yet.

Other Thoughts: This is a reliable device that works. I have several watch guard products this being the smallest. I am switching all of my clients over to these firewalls.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong and Reliable

Pros: This is a very secure device that I've found to be extremely reliable. I use this for retail chains, and use the public wifi ability a lot, which works fantastically.

Cons: Not for the novice or even intermediate admin...

Other Thoughts: Like the con states above, don't buy this device if you do not have a very good knowledge of networking. Small changes can have wide affects on it's operation. So you have to know what you are doing.

1 out of 5 eggsBuggy and Unreliable

Pros: After two years of problems it is hard to think of any

Cons: My business runs on an internal client server application; we have 12 clients, 1 SQL server, 1 application server. We also have 10 VOIP phones with an offsite VOIP provider. The specs of this device are impressive however far from accurate. I had a lesser model which couldn't handle the traffic and would lock up weekly; I had to pull the power plug to restart every time.

After spending 4 months, yes literally 4 months, going back and forth with their support, having them log into the device to review my configuration over a dozen times, having them blame it on every other piece of equipment in my network, having to run wireshark over a dozen times and send them the result, and only after hitting the point that I called their corporate offices and spoke with their VP of tech support did they admit their device couldn't handle the traffic of my network. Prior to calling the VP, their support agreed that it was their device and sent me a link to purchase this model at full price not caring that their device couldn't live up to its specs.

Two months after upgrading I decided to purchase their add-on security software; as soon as I installed the key my device started randomly crashing again. I uninstalled the key, device still crashing, I just restored to a pre-key backup hoping that it will solve the problem. I will be replacing and Ebaying this device as soon as possible.

Other Thoughts: It's an extremely poor situation when not only a product doesn't meet its specs but its up to the consumer to fight the battle and prove it. This was an extremely difficult thing for me, a person with over a dozen years of experience in software and networking; would it be possible for someone without this?
