4 out of 5 eggsGood luck...

Pros: I've bought a number of these, they all work "fine".

Cons: sometimes they can be directly next to the router and still have no connection.
My computers beeen down for days, couldn't figure it out, it was mimicking a crashed hard drive, no sign of life at boot, but BIOS recognized the drives.... I unplugged the adapter and it works perfectly now.(I wrote a more detailed account, but walked away for 5 minutes and my computer restart for a Windows update, lost it all.... your loss, sorry.

Other Thoughts: it's quicker to put this in a new computer and DL the drives online than it is to use the discs provided by the manfacturers.

If you need it for actual WiFi use, don't buy it, these are garbage, plus they're annoying at boot/connection and can lock up your PC.

1 out of 5 eggsinstall file inadvertantly deleted

Pros: It was cool to have the installation file right on the adapter. Worked fine for a low cost wlan adapter.

Cons: inadvertently deleted the install file. Went to Linksys online help---no useful answer, or replacement file there. So I emailed support; support responded with a 'Belkin' address. Called the support phone number and after an 8min hold, a lady that I could barely hear answered and started to help me. she told me it does not work with Win8, then hung up on me.

Other Thoughts: I called back and have been on hold for over 10 min now. Too many choices in queue. Poor, lacking support.

2 out of 5 eggslost firmware

Pros: It worked great for awhile.

Cons: firmware was inadvertently deleted and cannot be restored. Now, it is a piece of junk in my drawer. I was surprised that Linksys.com does not offer any firmware for this product. just drivers for xp, vista, & 7

Other Thoughts: I am just keeping it incase someone figures out how to get back the firmware, or Linksys finally decided to offer the firmware at the support site

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: It's easy to use. It's relatively fast. It's small and sleek. The drivers are contained on the device itself. It comes with a stand/extension cord for better placement.

Cons: It doesn't always pick up wifi at a distance that my other devices can.

Other Thoughts: It was only $10, so it is about as good as you can get for this price.

3 out of 5 eggsCould be good

Pros: It works for basic internet.

Cons: My adapter doesnt stay connected and only shows 2 bars of signal with the router being in the living room and this in my bedroom. my apt is almost studio sized. It always throws an error at some point throught browsing. always have to repair/troubleshoot or unplug and replug just to get back to browsing. when it is working it does move the speed it supposed to. Cisco is going to RMA but im not wasting my time. I feel Valet was a wasted effort on their part.

4 out of 5 eggsOK Adapter

Pros: Self installs without CD or wired connection.
Slick package and stylish look, but cable placement on the base meand the back side of the adapter with all the printing ends up turned towards the room if you place the base in a window sill or on a shelf with no access from rear.

Cons: Signal not that good. I hooked to a desktop I retired to my office, wireless router is in living room approximately 30 feet and 2 walls away. My 3 year old HP laptop and wireless printer in the office have full strength signals, the desktop, with this adpater and the extension cable used to place it on a higher shelf, closer to the signal point and only getting 2 or 3 bars out of 5 on the wireless networking monitor tool.

2 out of 5 eggsEasy Install / Unreliable Connectivity

Pros: Super easy to install. Recommend it for those surfing the web, e-mail, and general usage

Cons: Get's hot during use, poor performance when streaming HD video over wlan, low signal throughput for location vs other wireless devices.
