1 out of 5 eggsSystems crashed - no support

Pros: Has all the features that you could want.

Cons: Loud hum through the speakers when its turned on. System has crashed after one week - sent two e-mails to Masscool am yet to get a response.

Other Thoughts: User interface is poor - copying a file is like rocket science - finally figured it out after trial and error - you have to get the sequence of steps just right, else it fails with no explanation but a failure icon.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Unit!

Pros: Bought this unit from Newegg to store and play AVI downloads on my 50" 720p Plasma Samsung.

As everyone has said the owners manual leaves a lot to be desired but the unit itself more than makes up for the manual and besides there is an excellent manual online. Installed a 500g WD in the unit and use the USB cable to update downloaded items from my PC's download folder to the on board hard drive.

Cons: None at the time.

Other Thoughts: Great picture on the Wide screen!
Great Price!
Great unit for the money spent!

Plan to upgrade to a 2t drive in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsMasscool MP-1370S Review

Pros: I'm having a hard time thinking of any pros for this product. I could say the hard drive was easy to install...but I'm just trying to be nice.

Cons: The player itself is virtually useless. The User Interface isn't designed well, and is extremely difficult to use; it doesn't have much functionality. If you're not a computer engineer, I couldn't advise against purchasing this product more.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a device like this, do a lot of research before purchasing.

2 out of 5 eggslost in translation

Pros: installed hard drive with existing content and it plays with no problems on a tv. connected to a pc using usb and pc sees it without a hitch able transfer files just like any other external.

Cons: tried to network it and it has a popup that asks for net id and password, but my network has none so i cant conect to any computers on network nor does any computer see the drive. very dissapointed.

Other Thoughts: as others have said the included manuel is garbage. seems to have been translated from some laguage to english by a third party who could barly interperate it themselves. prety shody.should have been up and running with the whole 9 yards without a hitch.. hopeing for some teck support after the holliday weekend, but honestle should not have had to.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: Had for 2 months, running almost nonstop. I have a Seagate 1TB in it, with a little more then 500 avi, xvid movies on it. Networking is OK to download file to it from the Media player it self, a little slow. The USB works a little faster on downloading files. You can connect it to your Computer like a external drive to move file around a little easer. It will also stream video from my FreeNAS drive over the network with no problem at all. The pitcure is pretty good In HDMI, AV

Cons: Haven't been able to figure out how to access the media player from a computer on the network, to up load files to the media drive. Menu is a little slow, but look at what it is doing

Other Thoughts: This is small compact item that travels with me from town to town. I also use the drive as a external storage drive for my laptop when I on the road. I now have 2 of these units 1 for me and 1 for the wife.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good!

Pros: Lots of features for the price. Had a drive installed and had it networked in less than 10 minutes. As someone else stated earlier Just format your drive prior to installing it. Also to the person who said you have to watch your video inside the little frame, Just press enter on the remote to make it full screen. That little tid-bit is not covered in the manual.

Cons: Fan is a little noisy and I actually installed this in my bedroom so I just switch it off when not using it. The user manual is pretty bad as well. The manufacturer should have contracted someone who's native language is English to write an English version.

Other Thoughts: Not at all a bad deal. I would definitely recommend it to others so long as they have at least some small bit of tech knowledge.

1 out of 5 eggsA piece of junk

Pros: Can be used as a fancy enclosure, that's about it.

Cons: Horrible software UI (slow).
Very loud.
Play .VOB file but doesn't have DVD playback menu.

Other Thoughts: Regret to buy this product. Can't return now. I'm using it as an enclosure.

5 out of 5 eggsMasscool PVR

Pros: sata; recording; lan shareable; no tivo fees;

Cons: only 720p?; no usb expansion?; $99 is a bit pricey; not multi-channel?

Other Thoughts: I couldn't wait for Sony to come up with a USB TV receiver so I went looking for sata personal video recorder for my atsc converter boxes. I have 3x250G sata drives lying around due to some failed experiment. Might as well put these old 250G drives to good use. I've always wanted to record favorite local tv shows since don't have time to sit down watch them on their time slots. Now I can watch them anytime anywhere I want - on my PS3, Wii, PSP, or laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsNice network media player

Pros: Good, solid product. Plays mp3, avi, jpg, and mp3 files in browser mode perfectly. Built in browser is slow, but works and straightforeward. Connects to network - windows XP and Vista nicely with software. Streams mp3, avi and mp4 files from network. Small and portable, also has remote. Stores network logins/pws and paths for easy access. Can be completely configured through remote and TV.

Cons: Cannot connect to unit from network - all network communication must come from the unit itself in browser mode. No web page or web interface to configure unit. Cannot connect to Windows server 2003. Must run included software on computer to be able to connect to it. In order to write to drive in browser mode, drive must be formatted Fat32. Can read NTFS, but can't write to it. Can't read MP4 files from browser mode. Does not format video or pictures, what you have is what you see. Max res is 1080i, not 1080p. Cannot access internet.

Other Thoughts: Good first generation product. I can copy avi files to it, watch repeatedly. It stores my files and I can play my files. Does not need computer to use or configure. Will work as a USB drive when plugged in to computer via USB cable.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: I got this unit for its value and features it offered. For this pricepoint, its hard to find something comparable that has 1080 output plus HDMI, Ethernet, USB2.0, composite, and Coaxial connections all in one device.

Cons: The handbook that came with it can be improved. The manufacturer can look into improving the aesthetics of the cover.

Other Thoughts: It was a snap to install with a 1TB WD Green. With the enclosure's active cooling fan and the low temp operating temp of the green drive, the setup should last a long while; at least until the next generation of video output formats is developed and released.
