5 out of 5 eggsIt is great

Pros: The Bluetooth Dongle works right out of the box in Linux and that is wonderful. I can transfer files to and from phone and computer. It transfers really fast and no problems, like the product.

Cons: The only thing that it doesn't work between two computers, it sees the computers but does not transfer files, or want to pair the two together.

1 out of 5 eggsNot impressed

Pros: Small design, easy to carry around

Cons: No support for Windows Vista, even on XP it wont work of the standard bluetooth framework, installing a bunch of drivers to operate the device.

Other Thoughts: Buy something else...

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Bluetooth 1.2. No problems at all with Blue Soleil software- pretty new Windows install- I would assume the people with problems must reinstall Windows. No problem with "pirate" IP stuff mentioned earlier.

Cons: Nowhere near 100m range. If it's plugged in the back reception drops significantly; in the front 100% signal to about 20 feet; in a house it does go through couple of walls. During moving headset looses signal pretty much all the time...ups ground "managed" to set the record for slowest delivery of 2 oz package- lesson learned- ALWAYS go with FedEx.

Other Thoughts: I got that to work w/ Motorola HS-850 headset and Skype - it does work, but that headset has the worst noise hiss that I gave up. Other than sync your phone to computer, it really has no use.

3 out of 5 eggsThis is NOT Bluetooth spec 1.2

Pros: Reading the comments I see it works for most.

Cons: This product is NOT version 1.2, check the manufacturer website.

It does not work with my LG Chocolate phone, or LG HBS 110 Bluetooth Headset.

Do your homework and read forums and such before purchasing any bluetooth products.

Between 1.1, 1.2, And 2.0, you must know what you have and are getting.

Other Thoughts: My phone and headset are able to connect to built in bluetooth on my laptop. This dongle does not work with my devices. I'm going to have to deal with jumping thru hoops now to exchange this out.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy to use, decent range

Pros: Easy to install and works flawlessly with my Nokia 6133.

Cons: The range isn't quite what it's touted to be. The software can be somewhat intrusive.

1 out of 5 eggsnot a great one

Pros: Easy to install and set up. Finds devices quickly.

Cons: Could pair with my RAZR v3c flashed to alltel (like the other guy) and it wouldn't get services list so it was pretty useless.

Other Thoughts: Would have been excellent if it used the correct drivers to appear as a bluetooth device, but the drivers load it as a bluetooth usb, which Windows will not use on it's own. Widcomm drivers make no difference. With return shipping and restocking fee, I only got about $6 back.

3 out of 5 eggsClass 1 good?

Pros: Range. Works with my hands-free (samsung wep200).

Cons: Does not work with all class 2 devices? Finds and pairs my phone (vzw v3m flashed to alltel) but doesn't get the services list. I have a class 2 adapter that works with it. Used both Widcomm and included Bluesoleil with same results.

Other Thoughts: BT 2.0 means 1.2 and 1.1 as well. I can't find anything that says class 1 is either compatable or incompatable with class 2 devices. I know it uses a different frequency-hopping scheme. I have a class 2 adapter on it's way, since everything else is class 2.

4 out of 5 eggsA mid-level bluetooth adapter...

Pros: The Kinamax adapter works exactly as described. The software provided with the adapter immediately recognizes the adapter and provides a simple interface with which to access your bluetooth device (a phone, in my case) and to send/receive items.

In Linux (KDE 3.5, Debian 'testing', kernel 2.6.15), the adapter was immediately recognized by kbluetooth and I could use it with no further setup. Quite a nice surprise as well.

Cons: The software that comes with this adapter, although completely servicable, is a tad bit outdated. In all honesty, I would have hoped for simply integration of this adapter into the existing Windows XP bluetooth framework (allowing drag & drop file transfers, for example). This isn't a show stopper by any means, but it does mean getting used to a new program, although this is not too tall of an order.

An instruction manual would have been nice, as well, although you only need to install the software and plug the adapter in....

Other Thoughts: I had a terribly difficult time at first, when I tried to use this adapter. I did not know that you simply had to install the software and plug the adapter in. The problems I had (below) were not related to the adapter, per se, but a manual could have eliminated that possibility for me.

That more frustrating problem was my computer's inability to recognize that the device was plugged in, once the program was installed.

HOWEVER, in the end, this turned out to be a problem with my computer. Although ALL of my other USB devices (5, in total!) worked, this one would not until I fixed a USB driver that had been installed twice somehow.

In conclusion, I suspect that this adapter requires a clean install of a computer's USB drivers.

I mention this NOT as a black mark against Kinamax (my computer, my problem!), but in the hope that perhaps the next customer will be able to avoid the frustration that I had.
