4 out of 5 eggsWork Like a Charm

Pros: I keep buying these. So far I use one on Windows 7, Raspberry Pi, and OpenELEC/XBMC. Small and cheap.

Cons: Maybe not the fastest thing.

2 out of 5 eggsReliable but slow

Pros: I got this for my daughter's hand-me-down old school laptop, with internal wireless G. It set up easily, and connected reliably from day one, it's tiny, and has a cute flickering light. She had been complaining her computer was slow, and in the process of a home remodel I disconnected the ethernet from my desktop and popped in the Patriot. Hooked right up.

Cons: Yes, it hooked right up - allegedly at 30mbps. Certainly not "up to" 150mbs, but still way faster than my cable modem's 10-20 mbps (tested on ethernet) right? Wrong. Real world hook up to the internet (with latest drivers) is 1-3 mbps. Really noticeably, doggy, annoyingly slow.

Other Thoughts: I should listen to my kid - I just though she wanted shiny and new, but when I hooked up the antique ethernet, she was happy. I've ordered a 300mbps wireless usb to try, and I guess I'll dig up the old 3-antenna Airlink monstrosity for my desktop. Mama don't allow them ethernet cables round here. Time will tell.

5 out of 5 eggsRaspberry Pi Compatible!

Pros: I plugged it in, and it worked after I configured it for my home network. It is also VERY small and out if the way. I have not used it with anything else, but I was using the standard Raspberry Linux distro "wheezy", which is Debian based. This adapter is on the Raspberry's "verified peripherals" list.

If a wireless product works with Linux, you can expect to get it to work with Windows.

Cons: This is minor and easily solvable, but reception problems could result from the position of the internal antenna. A USB extension cord, available from NewEgg for $3 shipped, will most likely fix that.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: when it works its good for web browsing

when your computer stops recognizing it just unplug it an put it back an it works

Cons: Drops conection, seems to not work well with windows 7, windows 8, ubuntu, or windows xp

transfer speeds are low, claims to be a lot faster than it really is. dont transfer large files over a network with it (you know the point of wireless n) it will drop.

Pros: None.

Cons: Alright, just received this device today plugged in, install drivers awesome. Go to detect a network nothing. Thought okay maybe its the program. Turn on windows zero config. Okay..... still nothing. Alright starting to get madmake multiple profiles trying to connect to the wifi I have in the house that other devices are also connected to. Still no luck. Uninstall and reinstalled drivers twicestill nothing. Don't have any other computers that I can use it on. And I can't find any drivers at all that might beupdated.. Very displeased.

4 out of 5 eggsNo difference, no improvement

Pros: It finds networks ok, it works fine, it's small

Cons: Doesn't bring any improvement in pick-up range over an internal wifi adapter on an HP tx2500 laptop (from 2009). So... fail in my book.

Other Thoughts: Buy this if you want 4 year old wifi technology to ADD to a non-wifi machine.

If you are looking to improve your pick-up range for a device, look at another adapter.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Super small, able to use USB port right above it.On my 2007 desktop, plugged it in,put in 3inch CD, loaded drivers,it found wireless router, hit connect, connected in about 1 minute.Worked good in front or back USB ports.

Cons: Super small easy to misplace.Plug and play,to me meant plug it in and internal drivers loaded or windows would connect with out CD.Wrong. Must load CD.Does not say CD included in the ad.Would not plug and play in a Blueray player.Player would not load CD.Tried it in a 2003 desktop in another room.Realtech would default and windows would not connect, ever.Three and a half hours of trouble shooting everything 10 times realized it doesn't plug and play on the equipment I needed it to.

Other Thoughts: Anything that says"plug and play"and needs a CD to load a driver, needs" CD included in pack"in the ad.It was superb, better than expected in one of my computers.Just not the one I needed it in.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat deal on good device

Pros: + Quality brand with reliable customer support
+ Super small, fits between any device plugged into nearby USB ports.
+ Activity LED (green) lets you know when it's Tx or Rx signal
+ Personally tested and works on both Win XP 32bit and Win 7 64bit

Cons: - In XP Realtek WiFi management software takes over as default from Windows. It's not difficult to revert back to Windows management but it's just one more program to run/mess with.
- Super small, as a result reception suffers a bit which is why I removed an egg from rating. I happen to have a USB extension. By moving the device from the rear of the computer to the top of the desk signal strength went from 1-2 bars to 4-5 bars. If the computer was on the desk rather than the floor the extender wouldn't be needed.

Other Thoughts: A mini-CD with drivers for both Win XP and Win 7 is included. I expected to need the CD for XP but was glad I kept it because Win 7 also needed the CD. Once the software and drivers were installed on both systems network connection was automatic and steady through multiple reboots.

3 out of 5 eggsmeh

Pros: Worked great with windows XP on my pc. Installation was a breeze, and documentation was easily available. small size made it appealing for use on something akin to the rasberry pi.

Cons: difficult to install the drivers for ubuntu 12.04LTS. still finding it buggy to install under other linux OS.

Other Thoughts: when i plug it in running linux, it is recognized immediately, but refuses to connect to a nearby wifi connection at full bars of strength. if anybody else has had these issues, i'd be glad to know (i'd rather not look stupid)
