Plug & Play Installation
LG-Ericsson iPECS ES-1000 Fast Ethernet Switches provide a true plug and play installation experience for connecting network devices. With the auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX implemented, these switches easily connect to any network, automatically sense the network speed between 10M and 100Mbps, auto-negotiate the transmission mode at half or full duplex and remove the complexity of tedious setup procedures or cross-over cabling requirements.
Each product interoperates seamlessly with existing network devices at full performance without any additional configuration and it is easy to diagnose and monitor the operational status and activity with the per-port diagnostic LEDs.
LG-Ericsson iPECS ES-1000 Switches can transmit and receive traffic seamlessly in full-duplex mode and at non-blocking wire-speed. Each port supports seamlessly up to 200Mbps of bandwidth for transmitting and receiving packets in full-duplex mode. In addition, each port supports auto uplink capabilities making it straightforward to design the ES-1000 Switches into your existing network.
Industry Standards Compatibility
LG-Ericsson iPECS ES-1000 Fast Ethernet Switches are compatible with the major industry standards such as IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x. These switches can be seamlessly built into the customers' existing networks and deliver the highly reliable performance needed to support SMB IT networks.
Embedded Simple QoS
In addition to the industry standards switch features, LG-Ericsson iPECS ES-1000 Switches incorporate a simple QoS mechanism based on 802.1p tagging and IP TOS. This mechanism uses priority queues, permitting the customer's network to deal with VoIP traffic in a higher priority. These switches are optimized for small offices to set-up a simple VoIP network with a minimum investment and fully take advantage of the benefits of IP Telephony. 802.1p tagging and IP TOS based QoS are pre-configured at the factory based on industry standard values.
In today's world, it is critical to build an environmentally-friendly network. Even though the LG-Ericsson ES-1000 Fast Ethernet Switches are entry-level unmanaged switches, they are designed to reduce power consumption based on Link status and cable distance. In addition, their compact size helps reduce both the office and the overall carbon footprint.
Great switch for the money
Pros: I have lusted after the D-Link DGS-1024D fanless gigabit switch for a while but the price of $175 was too high for my budget. The cheaper options all have fans and I hate noise, especially in my home office. This switch isn't gigabit, but it offers the QoS and low power modes I consider essential since I throw a lot of streaming video and VOIP on my network. It runs really cool and quiet, and it manages to protect my voice and video traffic when I am transferring large files on the network. This is the best $38 I've spent in a long time.
Other Thoughts: I'd have preferred a gigabit switch but considering that my internet connection is only 14 Mbits down this thing has plenty of capacity for my needs. The 2 computers in my house that I absolutely need gigabit for are connected directly to my gigabit capable router.
