1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None.

Cons: Very disappointed in the range this USB Wireless adapter offered. I basically got the same range with just my built in Wireless. Was hoping for much better with this adapter.

Manufacturer Response:

Disappointed,
We are sorry if the UA600 unit is not performing correctly. If you feel that the unit is not providing sufficient coverage there may be an issue with the unit itself or the installed driver. Please call our tech support line at 888-573-8820 so that a technician can assist you in getting the unit working properly.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm pleased

Pros: easy installation
powerful

Cons: uses 2 USB ports (can use one, but then not as powerful)

Other Thoughts: I was surprised at how easy this was to install. I'm very pleased with the performance. It is replacing another long distance, powerful wireless adaptor that has worked well, but this unit has given me better connection and all the bars on my wireless meter. I'm very pleased.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well right outta the box,..But

Pros: This adapter worked right out of the box. It also worked with my Linux box with no driver installation needed. Gets full speed and is stable. It gets excellent reception, I see a lot more WiFi signals now.

Cons: Only one con. The LED light is so bright, airplanes from the nearby airport keep trying to land on my roof! Seriously the thing is so bright it kept me awake. I just put a little piece of black electrical tap over most of the LED and it's OK now.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Works most of the time

Cons: Randomly disconnects somewhat frequently for a second or two before reconnecting. Very annoying when playing online games. Latest drivers are from January 2011.

Sometimes it isn't recognized when system wakes up from sleep, have to unplug it and plug it back in multiple times for it to show up. This is in Windows 8 x64.

Manufacturer Response:

Austin ,
We are sorry the UA600 adapter is not performing correctly. That unit should maintain a steady connection to your router unless there is some interference in your network that causes the unit to malfunction. Please call our tech support line at 888-573-8820 so that a technician can troubleshoot the device with you and resolve the issue.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Distance.

Pros: Working as intended for purchase. Connects to router farther away than my cell phone could.

Cons: USB cord is a little short.

5 out of 5 eggsBest USB wi-fi adapter I have used

Pros: I have probably had 10 different USB Wi-Fi adapters and this is the best for range and signal strength, perhaps because it is a 600mW design. I have two and plan to buy a third. Impressive signal strength in two remote buildings about 80' from router.

Cons: Cable provided requires 2 USB ports for 600mW connection. Can be run as a 300 mW (I believe) device with 1 connection. I have MB's now with high power USB ports. It would nice if the unit came with a cable intended for a single high power port connection.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as described

Pros: No extra accessories needed. Black and sleek design. Extends range to reach wireless signals by 3 times, as marked. Upgradeable antenna for even bigger range (sold separately). Software included. Easy setup.

Cons: USB cord is short considering the nature of this device. A small variety of wireless adapter property options.

Other Thoughts: A bit expensive for it's performance. However, very user friendly.

2 out of 5 eggsNeeds improvement

Pros: When device works, it works quite well. Having owned two (2) of these wireless adapters, I can attest to their quality of service until this month. Tech support is excellent.

Cons: I Own two of these wireless devices, both of which have failed to connect to the Internet within the last few weeks. Had to RMA the first, requesting tech support on the second over Thanksgiving Holiday.

All internal diagnostics and software diagnostics work and shows that the wireless device works and performing optimal.

***However, device does not work.

Had very good tech support from AMPED on first wireless problem.

They are currently on holiday for the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend for the second complaint on the second wireless adapter.

Other Thoughts: Electronic devices are always sensitive, however these particular devices should be more resilient to product problems for the amount of money that they cost.

Again, technical support is excellent, but when and if they are unable to talk you through all possibilities then they refer you to the RMA department.

If my second complaint is not addressed to my satisfaction, I will post a follow-up to this message.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with our router. We try very hard to provide the best support and service to all our customers and we are sorry to hear that you fell you did not get this kind of attention. If it is not too late send an email to techsupport@ampedwirless.com and we will make sure our Concierge can set you up for an RMA.

3 out of 5 eggsNot at all impressed

Pros: extra "amped" power boost is a cool thought, if it works....

Cons: Feels cheap and hollow. WAY to expensive for what it accomplishes. My Rosewill RNX-N180UBE for 20 bucks gets the same signals without dropping. Plugging in the second "amped" cord did absolutely nothing.

Other Thoughts: 3 times the price for nothing special. Really??

1 out of 5 eggsGreat...when it works

Pros: - Full bars even when only the main USB plug is used, router 40 ft away.
- Can get signal from the building across the street.

Cons: - Connection dies after two hours, it sees ZERO networks even though there are at least 10 in range. Have to disable/enable the adapter to fix the problem.
- Old drivers (based on Realtek drivers from from 3/10/2010) , no new updates on the Amped website since 1/24/2011. Even the Mac drivers are at least 7 months old
- Have to force the IP address in order for it to work with an older a/b/g D-Link wireless router.
- The USB socket on the adapter is a little iffy. Have to push it in real good to get a proper connection. Seems like it'd break fairly easily.

Other Thoughts: Windows update keeps peddling a newer version of the Realtek driver that this adapter is based on. Doesn't work well with it though.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about you frustraion with your adapter. Form your description, it seems like there may be a faulty connection to the hardware. Give our Amped Wireless Elite Support Team and we can help you determine if the USB connection is not working properly. Our devices are covered by warranty for up to 1 year. IF you have a faulty product we will replace it ASAP.
