The Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-150N Smart Repeater expands the range of your 802.11b/g/n wireless network by repeating the signal from your home or office wireless router and redistributing it in a new "extended" location. Computers, game consoles, networked Blu-ray players, televisions and other networked devices can then connect to the Smart Repeater using Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet cables (up to 5 wired connections available) to access the extended network. The SR150 Smart Repeater eliminates wireless dead zones and extends wireless and wired network coverage throughout your home or office and is compatible with most brands and models of 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi routers and access points.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes mediocre--Spend money on something else

Pros: Relatively cheap

Cons: Requires constant power cycle

Other Thoughts: Spend more money on something more robust that doesn't require daily plugging and unplugging and verifying with your devices if you have internet connectivity or not.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought something else

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Tech support was readily available and were very helpful in setting this up. Excellent support. The range is awesome a lot better than any other router I have ever bought.

Cons: Not designed for the intent I bought it for. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I needed a router to extend my network out to the living room from the back bedroom. The missed issue was that the extended router is wired. The Tech support informed me that this router was not designed for this, but helped me with a configuration to make it work. he also explained that it might disconnect unexpectedly. I was also informed that there is a router capable of what I need.
I am now experiencing the periodical drop of connection, and immediately reconnects. I will need to call tech support back to get the model info when I get a chance. I will update when I get that router model.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended.

Pros: This unit does what it says it does, its properly advertised for the most part. Its a great booster IF you remember its a booster, it repeats the signal it receives, it cannot repeat what it does not have.
The problem is that we purchase them to boost a weak signal, one that's practically non existent. While this using will repeat a signal coming in at 30% it wants one in the 70% range, which you may not have. You need to move the location of this booster to a place where the original signal is adequate otherwise you will loose connectivity often although the signal on your device will appear high.
Another positive is the external antenna, I removed the 5db antenna and replaced it with a 15db, I have great coverage in my 5,000 sq ft home.

Cons: Set up is a bit complicated since now you're dealing with 2 networks, the original network and the "repeated" network. The novice user may get a bit frustrated and confused as the instructions are not very clear. You will need to slow down, think, and experiment a bit but at the end you will be ok.

Other Thoughts: Great Booster for the price, great range, worth your money.

3 out of 5 eggsNot NEW in box

Pros: I've purchased several of these before and re-purchased two to cover two wings of a very old building so I could extend to each end. The setup of these extenders is extremely easy and that's why I bought em because I'm having to talk my sister through the setup.

Cons: Well... this order didn't come new even though the product order description says nothing about reconditioned (so I'm even worried they aren't reconditioned or at least run through a factory reset). Both came with open plastic seals. One came apparently factory reset because it advertised the amped ssid but still had a password on it so I had to reset again anyway. Still had a password- so I reset by holding in the reset for over a minute- then it finally was unlocked and we finished the setup.
the 2nd one was advertising somebody's home network ssid, was locked, also had an ethernet cable plugged into it! wow.. some quality chedking is desired here. I still haven't got it reset- I had my sister do the same 1 full minute hold on the button and it came back with the original owners ssid again. Don't have time to work on it again until next week but if the mfr. has a suggestion i'll watch this thread (also goog'ling it).

Other Thoughts: I'd still buy these again as they're so easy to use. I'm not very happy that they didn't come new and obviously weren't even inspected before re-shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It works... for both my Android smartphone... and for my two sons' MacBook Airs. WPA/WPA2 PSK security, no less.
Reasonable range

Cons: Sometimes ... inexplicably... it takes a long time for my Android smartphone to make a connection.

Can be frustrating, upon first use. RELIABLE wireless router, in the lead, very important. Hang in there! Have heart! It's worth it.

Other Thoughts: Representations of super duper range are ridiculous. I am glad to have a 30 foot radius of reliable use... with the repeater indoors... by a window... and the intended use outdoors. Noticeable attenuation from frame-and-stucco wall; remember, there is chicken wire in stucco walls... The wavelength of a 2.4GHz signal is about 12 cm... so grounded chicken wire attenuates signal.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything is as advertised.

Pros: Easy set up, strong signal, great price.

Cons: None what so ever...

Other Thoughts: You have to be a complete dummy not able to follow the super easy set up instructions... I placed the repeater in the other room behind a wall aligned with a very large plasma TV at about 70% signal strength (used the great Android free app WiFiAnalytics by the same company), and after set up, the repeater signal is STRONGER than the main router signal 5 feet directly in front of the main router!!! No drop outs, no issues, no dead spots! Did not experience ANY of the negative reviews here... Would buy again!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Repeater

Pros: I have had this hooked up in the attic of my second garage building to repeat the signal from the house. The attic is non-insulated and here in Colorado temperatures can be below 0 in the winter and over 100 degrees in the summer. This thing has been running constantly for over a year with out a single hiccup while being exposed to brutal temperatures. Perfect solution for streaming media into the music room of a second building to keep the party going. Use your brain and you won't have any problems, I did have to play around with placement of the repeater to find the sweet spot of getting a solid signal.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsSR150

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Interface, GUI access, configuration and configuration options are all poor and very frustrating to use. Reboots needed after minor changes are too frequent and reboot times are WAY too long. Even with the latest firmware I find the device too frustrating to use anymore. I am buying something different

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with our repeater. You may be having some IP conflicts on your network. Please contact our Elite Support team and we can assist you in settings a Static IP for your device.
