The Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N Smart Repeater expands the range of your 802.11b/g/n wireless network by repeating the signal from your home or office wireless router and redistributing it in a new "extended" location. Computers, game consoles, networked Blu-ray players, televisions and other networked devices can then connect to the Smart Repeater using Wi-Fi or a wired connection (up to 5 ports available) to access the extended network. The Smart Repeater eliminates wireless dead zones, extends wireless and wired network coverage, and is compatible with most brands of models of 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n wireless routers.

1 out of 5 eggsCordless Interference Unacceptable

Pros: I will admit, in the beginning this unit worked fine.

Cons: Regardless of what setting I used on this product, when my cordless phones rang, it caused immediate and total loss of the Repeater signal. This then required (after the phone stopped ringing or I got off the line) for me to reboot my DSL, my main Router being repeated, the Repeater.

Now since the Repeater signal was being used for 2 TIVOs and 1 Roku box for my Netflix, this was a real headache because the Roku had to be reset every time as well. Luckily, the TIVOs did not.

The interesting thing is the Repeater worked in the beginning. It was over a period of time, that this all became a headache and not worth it. Irregardless, I cannot recommend this product.

Manufacturer Response:

Steve Chemist,

We apologize for the negative experience you may have with your SR300. Your cordless phone appears to be set on a channel close to what your router and repeater is set on. Please try going into your router settings and select a channel from 5-11 and power cycle the SR300. The router determines what channel the SR300 will operate on. You can also lower the channel width from 40MHz to 20MHz to help isolate and keep the channels from overlapping too much. Please contact our free US-Based Elite Support to help get your SR300 working to its full potential.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None.

Cons: The included software makes daisy chaining these very difficult. In the limited time I had to work with two of these I was unable to make it successfully work. I feel that it's possible if you override some of the settings, but I didn't get the chance to try that. When you start configuring the second one, the software will often become confused and think it's the first (which musses up settings). This has something to do with the caching of network settings (these units fake a DNS during configuration).

The software is very slow (iirc it takes 3 minutes to restart once you put the initial settings in). The software often struggles to connect to networks with the correct settings, but then will suddenly accept it on subsequent tries with the same information.

On their own, they didn't amplify the range enough to get any additional use (we tried to extend the range from the edge of the house to a workshop in the backyard).

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous,

We have designed the SR300 with ease of use in mind. We are sorry that you may have not found it to be this way. We do have free US Based Technical Support available with the purchase of our products and would be more than happy to walk you through the setup process as well as explaining how our products work. If you have any questions, you may email us at techsupport@ampedwireless.com or you may give us a call at (888)573-8820.

Thank you,
Amped Wireless Team

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Company

Pros: The headset was a lot better then I expected it to be. Very comfy, even after extended use still quite comfortable. When I first put them on they were really snug and I wasn't sure how extended use would result but I was delightedly surprised with the result. The mic works really well, clean clear and crisp!!

Cons: Wish it would have come with a desk stand as opposed to a travel case but its fine. As far as the foldable part of the headset to put it into the carry case, either I can't figure out how to properly fold them or the design was flawed. It doesn't matter much to me though as I have no need to travel with the headset. Just something to bring up for those interested in the headset with that idea in mind.

Other Thoughts: I have a tte sports keyboard and mouse and I'm glad to stick with the company. They have yet to disappoint me with product.

1 out of 5 eggsShort life span

Pros: Easy setup, works well when it is working and that was on day 1

Cons: Day2... started out working intermittently, then stopped working. The power on indicator was blinking.
Day 3...DEAD! No sign of life, not even a blinking light.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear tbgreatest,

We are sorry to hear about the negative experience you've had using your Range Extender. Amped Wireless stands behind the quality of its products, and we would be more than happy to troubleshoot the issue if possible or exchange the unit. Please give us a quick phone call to our free, U.S. based Elite Support at 888-573-8820.

2 out of 5 eggsSpeeds are slow

Pros: Offered extension to bring 4 - 5 bars of service to our bedroom. The Amped Wireless Extender was able to connect to my Netgear router with 99% strong signal strength.

Cons: The speeds were slow! The extender said it had STRONG signal strength from my Netgear router (99%) but even when I'd step into the other room the amped extender would only offer 2Mb/sec - 4Mb/sec download speed. My internet connection is capable of handling 50Mbps, so this device had to go back.

Other Thoughts: I just moved my Netgear router to sit on top of my gaming PC's tower, and I'm now able to get service back in my bedroom. Guess I didn't really need this device, but I don't think I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for FAST Internet speeds.

Manufacturer Response:

If you are experiencing more than a 25% loss in speed in your extended network, you may be communicating on a congested wireless channel. Log in to the Web Interface for your router and change the channel from 5-11 under the wireless settings. If its not too late, please give our support center a call to help walk you through this.

4 out of 5 eggsamped wireless sr300 smart repeater

Pros: I am very pleased with the repeater. I have no dead zones now in my house. My router is in the basement and the amped wireless repeater is set up on the main level and the top floor of the house has coverage everywhere. The concierge #113 (Abel), was extremely knowledgeable and very patient! He got me squared away with an encryption problem, when I upgraded my modem to a higher speed dsl service. Abel is one of the best tech. support people I have ever dealt with. He stayed on the line with me and made sure each of my wirless devices connected to the amped network with no issue.

Cons: The only thing preventing me from giving this product a 5 star rating, is that I ran into encryption issues both times I set up the repeater. The initial set up and then after I had upgraded my dsl and installed a faster modem. So, it is not plug in and that is all that needs to be done. It was a bit more involved. However, once its up and running, its great.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Strong signal, I have to share a wireless network between two very old buildings, (a main building, and a single room secondary unit) and this product worked very well. The setup was quick and painless, and it works much better than other solutions I have tried.

Cons: Although there is a strong signal, it is rather slow. It is perfectly fine for casual browsing (what it will be used for) but would not be acceptable for anything intensive.

Other Thoughts: Certainly worth the $70.00 when on sale. Much higher output than the (stolen) Linksys model it replaced.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working

Pros: It worked for a few months

Cons: It stopped working after a few months

Other Thoughts: Purchased 2 of these for an office. One is still functioning, but i will most likely replace that one also - this time with a hard wired access point.

1 out of 5 eggsPowerful signal, but slooooowwwwww

Pros: I get 5 signal bars from the repeated signal. Also, it looks nice and effectivly acts as a wired network node for those few devices I don't particularily care about speed for (T.V. firmware updates, things like that)

Cons: Off the 3 signal bar native wireless node at the downstairs location I get between 5-7 Mbps on average downlink. With this device upstairs sitting right next to the router, I get a maximum of 1 Mbps. Tried it on a few other routers just to make sure it wasn't on my end, same results. While I can see this being useful for some situations, it really isn't going to be of any use to me at all, and I'm really dissappointed that it isn't significantly faster than it is. The specifications are inaccurate and should be changed. This device is not capable of anywhere even close to 300Mbps throughput. Period.
