1 out of 5 eggsProblems configuring

Pros: Not much here

Cons: I was never able to get it to work properly with my Mac. After working with tech support for a considerable amount of time, he said that they had problems connecting and configuring with Macs both wired and wiressly. Also after making a configuration change when I was able to get into the router it had to reset and this took almost 3 minutes. He also told me they have problems connecting to Vista and XP. My Netgear router was easy to set up and worked great.

Manufacturer Response:

Rick,
We apologize for the trouble and inconvenience you have experienced as well as the wrong information. As we previously explained, our routers and extenders, like all WIFI devices, work under the global IEEE 802.11 WIFI standard. The operating system of your devices is and should not be an issue of incompatibility as long as your device is WIFI capable. We have customers that had used their Ipad and Iphones to connect and setup our units with no issue so the MAC should not be any different. Again, please call 888-573-8820 so that we can resolve the problems you are having. If you feel you need higher level assistance please ask to speak to a level 2 technician when you call.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me

Pros: Forced me to change to WPA2 from WEP.
Tech support was pleasant

Cons: Never got it to work wirelessly.
Setup requires ethernet cable which is not included.

Other Thoughts: Followed instructions. Made sure had latest firmware. Worked with Tech support but never could get it to connect with the router it was supposed to extend the range of even when less than 5 feet from router.
Worked when connected to target computer with Ethernet cable but if I wanted a wired system I would just run a cable.
Signal reception of wireless (when connected by Ethernet cable and working) was weaker than USB wireless adapter it was supposed to help.

I gave up after about 4 hours of playing with the device and sent it back.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,
We are sorry if the unit did not work for you. The connection issues you had could have been caused by several variables including radio malfunctions. As far as the Ethernet cable, that is not supplied anymore because it is not required for the setup as that can be done through a wireless connection. Again we apologize for the trouble and inconvenience.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not work for me

Pros: Forced me to change wireless to WPA2
Tech support pleasant

Cons: Only worked when connected to target computer with Ethernet cable.
Never worked wireless at any distance from wireless router

Other Thoughts: Changed network to WPA.
Made sure latest firmware was installed.
Did not come with Ethernet cable which is needed for setup.
Never worked when not connected to target computer with Ethernet cable.
Reception signal strength less that my other wireless adapters at any specific location..
Gave up and returned it.

4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: Works out of the box
Decent price
Quick Setup
Amazing performance
Current firmware out of the box
Runs cool and silently
Vertical or horizontal orientation options
Included performance app for smartphones (simple, but free/effective)
Discreet design (small and invisibly black without sleep-disrupting LED levels)

Cons: Long Reboots
Not multi-band (this model, anyway)
Flimsy feel (no egg deduction)

Other Thoughts: After throwing my THIRD NetGear wireless repeater in the scrap bin, I took a chance on the Amped brand, with little prior knowledge of them. I've also all but given up on chasing the dream of extending 5 Ghz Wi-Fi, but with one or two devices in the house out of 12 wireless gizmos, I figured I could let that go and run with a 2/4 only repeater. So, this little thing is small, light, a bit "cheap feeling", but after going through their setup wizard (save yourself the grief and set up these things with a network CABLE), I was up and running and outshouting my neighbors in less than 15 minutes! I'm NEVER going to trust a wireless repeater that is A) From NetGear (sorry guys, I've tried!) or B) Doesn't have real, external antennas. I've taken apart all my prior failed repeaters, and the crummy internal radios are clearly inferior to a real "rubber duckie". And this one has TWO. I've been sunning this for over a week, with more Wi-Fi bars in the struggling areas of my property than I have ever seen using other brands. I didn't use it, but the response to Amped's tech support seems favorable based on other reviews. Although fairly brainless to set up, I can see room in some of the advance options where you might need to watch what your clicking, or even consult Amped support for some fancier configurations. (Determining to keep DHCP on by default or not was one of those areas that gave me pause). As another reviewer best put it "finally something with overkill!"

A final word to the wise - take the time to learn which wireless channels you can REALLY use in your country, get a good survey of your competing neighbor signals, and let this device do the rest. I'm really pleasantly surprised and satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good

Pros: very good product, it's easy to setup and best of all, it works!, I have had a linksys RE1000 and it needed to be rebooted almost daily. No changes on main router, same physical location, just swapped for this one and configured. It has been working perfectly for several weeks now.

Cons: kind of big

1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BE WARNED

Pros: None

Cons: The high price and mostly favorable reviews of this unit led me to believe that this was a quality product. I was mistaken. The unit worked adequately for almost two weeks before becoming a $100 paperweight. It will no longer communicate with my router. I did experience the intermittent signal loss that others wrote about. Tech support said this was probably due to a bad radio. If you will look at tech support comments on reviews of other Amped products, you will see that they often blame the issues on bad radios. I am not in an area with channel interference and do not have an IP address conflict.

Other Thoughts: The worst thing about this is that I just threw away $100. Newegg will not take this unit back because I got rid of the packaging once the unit was up and running. Amped is offering to exchange it, but the exchange will take two weeks unless I overnight the paperweight to them. Even after two weeks, I am stuck with a poor quality product that apparently has a hardware design flaw. If for some reason you decide to buy one of these, make sure you save the box until after Newegg's return policy expires.

Manufacturer Response:

Just got ripped off,
We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with our unit. Unfortunately, as with any electrical devices, the possibility of failure and glitches is there. 5 out of 5 eggsgood for me

Pros: Great range, covers the entire 3500 square foot house and out to the garage. Our wall our concrete so I was surprised the signal was able to reach outside.

Cons: it can be a pain to reset up after a software update. Instead of letting use the same settings (password and all that jazz) I had to go through and set up a fresh install which then meant I had go and enter in the new info on all my wireless devices

Other Thoughts: Great power for he cost and easy to set up

5 out of 5 eggsLooking for Better, Here you go!

Pros: I have needed a high power WiFi to penetrate through a building that is full of Refrigerators, Stoves, Stainless Steel Sinks, Etc... If Electromagnetic Fields were essential for LIFE, no one would be able to live in this Building!

With a few of the Wireless SR10000, I did what the others could not do. Give me a strong signal from front to back and top to bottom.

Easy to install and running steady for a year now.

Cons: none
