2 out of 5 eggsOver Rated Router

Pros: It hooks to the internet
Didn't quit for 12 months
Kept my aggravation level at a high peak

Cons: Low Signal strengh
No Range
Over rated

Other Thoughts: It would not reach from bedroom to den a distance of less than fifty feet. Had to have a repeater in the den to keep signal from dropping if you wanted to use IPad in den. I do not recommend the AMPed router. Replaced with a different brand that works great.

Manufacturer Response:

Harley130,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with this particular router. Wi-Fi operates on a specific channel from 1-11. Your R10000G may have been on a congested channel and a simple channel change may have resolved this issue. If you still have the unit, please give us a quick call to see if we can get the unit operating up to expectations.

2 out of 5 eggsLow qaulity Router

Pros: Very great lan connect and excellent wifi range if your 5 feet away

Cons: Did not connect from over 15 feet away. Was able to see the device but could not detect. Changed the security from mixed mode and updated the firmware.

Other Thoughts: As great as I was hoping this router was going to be, I have had 2 that had the same exact issue and I purchased directly from Amped Wireless. RMAH process was fast and easy and they got 2 eggs for customer service. Never had the product hooked up for even a total of 5 hours due to wifi range connection issues. The entire 5 hours was trouble shooting the issue but Amped figured it was hardware both times. Low quality control.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome router

Pros: Very easy setup, good range, and fantastic tech support. I called into tech support for a simple question not a problem. I was very impressed at how knowledgeable the agent I spoke with was (Agent Chelsa). Also, before you give this router anything less then 5 eggs make sure to upgrade the firmware which is also very easy. The router gives me far better range then my other router and is a snap to setup. BTW, if you want to do more complex settings you can. It is cool they give you a easy setup wizard but at the same time you can get into the complex settings. Anyway, I am very happy and highly recommend this router.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Remember you can always upgrade the antennas for even more range :)

1 out of 5 eggsNot Impress at All

Pros: Easy hook up, good instructions

Cons: Range not up to specs

Other Thoughts: I installed the router and it would not reach out 30 feet, I ordered the matching repeater and still no help. Not a fan of this brand

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with our router. Every WiFi network's coverage area is dependent on multiple environmental factors. A quick call to our US based Elite support team and we can assist you in the optimal placement of this device.

3 out of 5 eggsClarification

Pros: None yet

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: The manufacturer claims a 10,000 square foot coverage. These routers use omnidirectional antennas so coverage should be in a circle.
As we should all know from school, the area of a circle is Pi times the radius squared. A=Pi*r^2
With an area (or coverage) of 10,000 sq. ft, the radius works out to a little over 56 ft. That means this router only projects signal 56 ft out.
Does a 56 foot range sound long distance?

I do not yet own this router. I was considering it for its high power claims and gigabit ports.

1 out of 5 eggsFalsely Advertised

Pros: None!!!

Cons: Does NOT produce a better signal than any standard Wireless-N router.
Setup wizard password protects your network, and thats about it.
No SPI exists even though its advertised (Verified by the company themselves from there support number of 888-573-8820).
DoS feature not even enabled by default when using the smart wizard.
VERY cheaply made!

Other Thoughts: This product does not produce a better signal than any standard Wireless-N router, and is very CHEAPLY made. The router is geared toward people who have NO concern for security or any real control over there wireless network. The setup wizard it walks you through password protects your network, and thats about it. No real security like SPI exists even though it is touted as a feature of this router. The company directly verified over the phone (888-573-8820), that regardless of there own website description, this product does NOT support SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection). Not only that, when using the smart wizard, the security setting for DoS (Denial of Service) protection is not even enabled. From nearly two decades of experience as a network engineer, a better cost effective solution is the D-Link DIR-655. A better high end solution is the ASUS RT-N66U. Don't waste your time with Amped Wireless, and their bogus advertising.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction wit our product. Our routers do support SPI. The settings can be found in the setup page at More Settings | Firewall Settings. The router inspects traffic at the packet level. Our router does support protection against DoS attacks as well, but you need to enable this feature.

5 out of 5 eggsGood coverage on a really long ranch

Pros: * Great Range
* Easy setup
* Simple and quick wizard for setup

Cons: * Somewhat limited settings for a more involved setup.
* Convoluted advanced settings interface

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 5 year old Wireless DLINK router to improve the range at my parents really long ranch house. The signal is really amazing. Dropped connections are no longer an issue. Netflix is more responsive on wireless streaming.

I have been dealing with wireless routers for years, and am kinda blown away at how good the signal strength is.

For anyone reporting problems with the router, they did just come out with a new firmware version several days ago. Do upgrade your firmware if having any problems.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible router

Pros: None

Cons: Set is horrible, but what is even worse is the wireless component. My old router was up and running without an issue for 470 days straight. This router would have to be reset every two days because The wireless connection would fail. Sending this unit back and crossing Amped off my list!!

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your experience with your router. This is not typical behavior of our routers. If it is not too late, give our US based Elite Support a call today and a experienced and friendly Concierge could verify your device is configured correctly.

1 out of 5 eggswouldnt recommend to an enemy

Pros: Has very flashy advertising........Didnt have to wait very long for tech support only 24 hours............grrrrrr

Cons: Tech support is very willing but the person I spent 3 hours on the phone with knows less than I do about networking. Tired the exact same thing over and over and over again... Connection dropped every 4-5 minutes (verified with isp's logs) Firmware is buggy and very very very basic does not even have a field for a static IP on the WAN.

Other Thoughts: Tech support actually said that thier RMA system was very poor and I should persue trying to return it to the retailer where I purchased it, Noting like saying get lost in a fashionable way. I decieded against it instead I calmly placed it behind the tire of my truck backed over it, swept it into a box and am mailing it back to corporate tomorrow... I have played with a vast array of routers over the years from the simplest bridge to full blown corporate firewalls costing thousands of dollars and I have to say this is the poorest excuse for technology I have ever seen. If..... you can get it to work with your ips's service it is only powerful enough for the smallest networks.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for your experience with your router. I sounds like you received a defective product. We apologize for the inconvenience it caused you. Our RMA team processes warranty requests as quickly as possible, but usually cannot exchange an item as rapidly as our online retailers that service customers from multiple distribution points. We do provide a 1-year warranty on all Amped Wireless devices for instances like yours.

3 out of 5 eggsAmp wireless R10000G

Pros: The unit is light, cables are plugged and ready for user to use.
Clear instructions on how to set-up

Cons: It seemed to me that the instructions were clearly illustrated but I could not get the unit to work-get online! I unplugged and plugged several times to get it to work on my Mac ( I run Lion). After a while I wanted to give up and gave it a last try then it "works". Once it work, the internet for download is pretty slow. Not that great range as they advertise neither.

Other Thoughts: It could have been my reading but I did followed the instructions for lots of time to get the unit to work.
