4 out of 5 eggsPretty Easy To Set Up

Pros: Very easy to set up. Still trying to figure out how to set up privacy, though.

Cons: Maybe if Belkin provided a hard copy of the manual instread of going to the cd for info.

Other Thoughts: I only had to wait 2 days for the delivery of this item. Newegg.com is my New friend!

4 out of 5 eggsGood router

Pros: I have been running this for a little bit now and have not had many issues. Port fowarding and setting up a virtual server is very easy. I have great range and get connection speeds up in the 15-17 Mbps range.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Good for the price!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent on sale

Pros: Works fine in smaller areas.

Cons: Nothing siginificant for my purposes.

Other Thoughts: I was able to pick this up as part of a bundle that made it a fantastic buy. It works fine in smaller areas like an apartment, but not nearly the "horsepower" of the ASUS RT-N15 in my house. But I just use it when I travel so I can have wireless in apartments.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Router - Poor Support

Pros: Clear labeled display (Displays when wireless in use). N router at low price. I get a much better signal Always good) than my old Verizon FIOS router. Nice design.

Cons: Belkin support (overseas) is lacking . I had to use the Set up CD 3 times before I could get the router to work. I called support after the 2nd try and they rushed me to get the router working. They told me to reboot and then call back (I had to wait 5 minutes to get through). I also couldn't get my XP machne to work (My Vista laptop was not a problem). I was on the phone for an hour to get it to work.

Other Thoughts: Great price for a good router. Would give 5 eggs except for the poor support. I was using a laptop in a docking station to set up the router which may have caused some problems but the support is lacking.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast connection. Easy to use. Looks like it will be easy to trouble shoot also if it ever fails. Working flawless so far. Good value.

Cons: Set up cd would not run on my windows Vista desktop PC. Call the tech support. They gave me the info I needed to set it up.

Other Thoughts: If you have to call tech support they are more than willing to help solve any issues.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: Ive had this same unit hard wired into 3 computers throughout my house, for maybe 5 years.
I has run without a hickup for 99% of that time. If it ever did stop working, isimply pulled the hot lead and waited 1 minute. upon reboot she was always up and running fine.
Solid performer. # people use 3 computers daily .at least one is on at any given time. In my opinion, outstanding product.

Cons: I dont see Belkin advertised in stores that carry the product.
I dont understand why I hear more good things about this equipment.

Other Thoughts: with cable connection im at about the national standard thoroput 90% of the time. I test with speed test tools like 1 x a month. and she is right up there .

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great after a month of heavy use

Pros: This is an update. After reading a long comment on a 2 year old product, I have to update my comment to say that this product is running perfectly after over a month of very heavy use for 6 computers -- 4 gaming using the wired commnections, and 2 using the wireless. There have been no interruptions in service caused by the modem. As stated before the ping, uploads, and downloads perform nearly identically to a BEFSR81 Linksys that we had for years when using the wired connection.

Cons: none. Expect to give up some speed for any wireless connection. Use the wired connection unless you can't get a wire to the router.

Other Thoughts: To Modicus. You reviewed a 2-year-old product. If it was giving that much problem, just buy another. This one is priced ridiculously low. If you buy from Newegg next time, you will not have a problem if the product doesn't work. Newegg's return policies and customer service are the best in the world.

1 out of 5 eggsA terrible purchase from Belkin

Pros: When I purchased this router in Nov 2007, I was excited to be upgrading to N speeds, as I was replacing my venerable NetGear WGR614 802.11g router which had finally failed after years of solid service.

At first blush, my experience was good: excellent speeds and no issues with my various PC's( 1 XP and 1 Vista )sharing the same network with my Xbox360. I was pleased with the wireless performance, though I did not try to max out the speeds in initial tests as I did not replace my older laptop until Sept 2008, with which I still reached 150mbps speeds on a regular basis. The newer laptop, with its built-in N adaptor, maxed out near 280mbps consistently at admittedly short ranges of 20-30 feet.

Aesthetically it was a handsome router, with bright LED's and a sleek glossy black finish. Looks very nice and cool. But...

Cons: Problems began around July 2008, when I would come home to find the 'internet' light flashing amber on the router. At first I thought this was due to a cable service interruption or hiccup, so I took no notice. Until I began happening more and more often, sometimes 2-3 times daily over the course of the next six months. NOT HAVING A RESET / POWER BUTTON only aggravated this issue, for the router's plug is not the easiest to find in the dark.

I was perplexed; the router had been protected by a UPS throughout, wasn't overheating and wasn't being used for anything close to heavy loads for a consumer-grade router. I contacted my ISP who ran tests on different days to confirm my connection was indeed, solid. I installed( and un-installed )OpenDNS; no effect. I tried disabling the wireless, using only 1 PC at a time, disconnecting the Xbox, and every other combination /cure I could think of.

The flashing internet light still appeared at random, even without ethernet plugged in!

Other Thoughts: So I made the rounds of various support forums, as well as firing off emails to Belkin, whose end replies were summarized as 'it is working fine. I considered sending it in for replacement, as it carries a ‘lifetime warranty’ but unfortunately Belkin is located in the USA and their website proclaims that 'Canadian customers are responsible for custom charges including, but not limited to, brokerage, taxes, duties and other fees.' Thanks, but I've already paid enough without Customs costing me too.

Obviously the router wasn't fine, but by that point I'd had enough - constant lockups while downloading, surfing or playing online games had given me a bad taste for this particular bit of Belkin gear.

I've posted longer versions of this review elsewhere, in the hope that other savvy consumers will see it and spend their hard-earned money elsewhere, rather than be stuck with this doorstop disguised as a router. Bad show, Belkin: my business has gone elsewhere thanks to the F5D8233.
