4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Hardware, Iffy Software

Pros: Built in USB 2.0 slot for moderate NAS is nice on small home networks
Can forgo routing and firewall to use it as a pure access point
User friendly UI (Ties in with a con though)
Great for a home and most users, but...

Cons: Can't view current local DHCP assignments
Can't filter or disable the log, and it only keeps something like 30 entries before it starts erasing
impossible to customize QoS priorities

Customization is watered down pretty hard. It's nice for novice users, but slightly irritating to those who want more control

Other Thoughts: Overall great router, but not for this price. (99.99 at time of review)

Got one from my ISP a little ways back for cheap, and it's done well as a household router.

2 out of 5 eggsTurned out to be terrible after 2 years

Pros: Seemed to do a good job of dealing with network congestion.

Cons: Caused very odd issues with a lot of my devices due to issues with the firewall. Now it's certainly possible that the issues were just MY device, but then again, that's all I have to judge my experience with. I have the Logitech Revue, and this router caused connection issues for several applications. As soon as I removed this Belkin from my network, all of my issues were resolved. I attempted turning off the firewall, adding DMZ to the affected device, adding Google's DNS, factory reset, checked for new firmware. Unfortunately I have a 90 dollar router that I just refuse to use. I'm disappointed in the lack of firewall settings, and also the lack of QOS settings available. Unexplained and unfixable issues with devices connected to this router are REALLY why I removed 2 eggs, and 1 egg for a 92 dollar router not having QOS and firewall settings.

Other Thoughts: I also had a few issues where I would make a configuration change in the router, and it would take the 60 seconds to save and reboot, and the setting wouldn't have saved. So i would refresh, and power cycle, and it still didn't save, so I would have to do it again. Nothing more frustrating than bad software that feels "temperamental".

4 out of 5 eggsstrong wireless router

Pros: This router stands out from many others I have tried. It has an excellent range in terms of distance-signal ratio. It has penetrated through steel walls that other weaker routers could not. I could not be happier with the performance.

Connecting a flash drive or USB hard drive will auto-mount the drive to \\\<drive_label> replacing drive label with whatever the disk drive is called. This also works if you have a hard drive with more than 1 partition or a USB hub connecting several disk drives together as separate network shares. Effortless drive-mounting. Gigabit ethernet works nicely.

Cons: USB network storage can be flaky depending on your needs. With the v1 and v2 version of this router, the speed was roughly 2-3MB which is rather slow. These are likely v3 models so perhaps this slow transfer speed is resolved.

Download meter worked for about a week and quit. This is purely cosmetic if you like to see when your network is under high load, however this may have been fixed in the v3 version.

Guest network feature is useless. I have had instances where the router confuses "guests" with "secure users" and presents secure users with a guest landing page. This is more of faulty firmware than it is router defect, but it's worth noting for potential buyers. Also, if you plan on using the guest network feature, don't plan on using as an open public network...the belkin firmware prohibits this.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a really good router despite some mishaps in the firmware. The excellent range and Gigabit ethernet ports had me sold on it. If your looking for a fast router that travels long distances, this would be the one.

3 out of 5 eggsServed Well.

Pros: Handles large amounts simultanious connections
Solid construction, doesnt tip over at the slightest knock.
Media and gaming never a problem

Cons: None till very recently. It lost DHCP ability in the switch, wireless connections are fine. No amount of reseting, reinstalling, renewing, or refreshing will fix it. At first I thought it was my computers network card, but alas all connected components (xbox, 2 desktops, printer, network drive) all give the "fault" i.p

Other Thoughts: I would like to add though that this router served my platoon in afghanistan very well. At any given time 20-30 i.p's were logged in doing everything from playing call of duty on xbox to watching movies on our movie server, to most importantly internet. So for that I thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Recommended

Pros: Stands up
looks nice

Cons: NAS
connections dropped
Belkin support

Other Thoughts: I've had this router for a while and I was being forgiving with the products unexplainable Hardwired ports dropping connections and inconsistencies until now. It turned into Constant not only rebooting but even more painful and inconvenient is the reinstalling of the firmware or hard boots to factory defaults just for daily function.I was Told by tech support this is the fix who was reluctant to RMA the item.
I have had my fair share of routers linksys(Cisco) , d-link, and now ASUS routers and the customer service\Tech Support experience Belkin has provided is By Far the absolute worst! From my experience, Belkin has lost a customer and I would not recommend to anyone for business or personal use.
There are serious function flaws and basic functions at that
Long story short:
Bad Hardware Bad Support

4 out of 5 eggsDecent after initial issues

Pros: Able to use Home access and set Guest access w/o issues. Trouble free after figuring out issues.

Cons: Was trying to use with another router for guest use which gave issues. 2 Belkins don't work together unless changing their internal settings. With a Netgear was better but not perfect. Finally ditched both and runs great. Hardly need to reset at all and works great after 6 months

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent router

Pros: Easy to setup. Very reliable.

Cons: Lack of network/bandwidth monitoring. This should be included in all router by now. It's not complicated to add to a firmware.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router (Works Fine)

Pros: Great signal strength, Great Coverage, Great Speed, Great Security, Guest Internet, serves many devices without a hitch. Looks Awesome

Cons: Firmware upgrade doesn't work, Really light-weight and cheap feeling

Other Thoughts: Sorry so many bad reviews. I've had this router over a yr now. It wirelessly serves 2 laptops, 2 iphones, 3 ipod touche(s), a PS3, xbox 360(2nd flr), a PSP, and a Nintendo DSi flawlessly. I may have to reboot 1x a mo, somtimes less, but that's only if I'm jacking around with it! It's in the basement of a 2 story house, so it covers 3 levels. I have a Gig-E Cmptr, xbox 360(basement) & Blu-Ray connected to the wired ports. I subnetted my network, use MAC filtering, custom SSID, and a strong access key. DON'T put it in a CLOSET or next to anything metal, that will seriously degrade your signal. It radiates a signal from the antennae - Why would you put it in closet??? The only thing special I did was put in some custom settings. If you choose not to broadcast your SSID, then you will have to reboot often. If someone's gonna hack you, it doesn't matter if you're broadcasting your SSID or not, so leave that box un-checked. Also, adjust the settings for IP lease, or don't expire them

1 out of 5 eggsI Reset this Router Daily

Pros: When it works, the router is quite fast. Wired access works well. The web based utility works well and I like that you can restart the router via the web utility.

Cons: My Linksys WRT 54G was broken during a move, and I bought this as replacement. I literally have to restart the router every single day. Both wired and wireless access crashes regularly.

The wireless range is honestly terrible. I have the router in a media closet about 20 feet away from my blu-ray player, and the connection is very weak. Wireless range is really bad.

I just wish that it would work.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to have to buy another router. I think I'll spend the money and get something that I don't have to reboot each day.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router Great Price

Pros: Super easy to set up. Great signal strength. Plenty of options in the built in OS. Upgradable to DD-WRT if you are into that sort of thing.

Cons: In the built in OS the router reboots after every change on every screen. Each reboot takes about 45 seconds. It would be nice if you could make a series of changes and then reboot once.
