2 out of 5 eggsIt works except when it doesn't

Pros: When it works, it's okay. Radio is strong enough, doesn't drop packets.

Cons: Overheats simply by being in proximity to the cable modem. When the internet went out, the device ACTIVELY PREVENTED ME FROM CONTACTING OTHER DEVICES ON MY NETWORK BY REDIRECTING MY BROWSER.

Firmware is poorly laid out. It is basically "babby's first UI".

Other Thoughts: Don't buy belkin routers. Might be useful if you flashed the firmware to something else.

Pros: The UI and can change the IP address if behind another router. (pfsense box) Wired portion works good at least.

Cons: This thing has no range at all! I live in a single story home and my PC is literally 25 ft away from it and going threw two walls. I will lose the signal or just be dog slow.On the other side of the room i lose 50% of my signal without going threw a wall. I always heard good things about Belkin but this thing is just bad. It doesn't have gigabit Ethernet LAN ports but that's no big deal because the internet is the bottle neck.

Other Thoughts: First time and last time I will buy a Belkin router. Only reason I still have it is because I can't return it because it was on clearance for $15 brand new never open.

Pros: Cheap price but you get what you pay for.

Cons: I have to restart the router a couple time a day because it randomly for seemingly no reason decreases in speed from my 20mbps internet connection down to about 2mbps. If I direct connect to the modem it works fine. I tried adjusting every setting in the "router dashboard" but it does not help. I don't know how other people are having no issues.

Other Thoughts: Don't cheap out when it comes to a router or you will regret it.

Pros: Doesn't look terrible

Cons: I bought one of these less than 6 months ago and a local big box store. I was really excited about the features that let me plug in a hard drive and the dual N band transceivers but this item stopped working about 5 months in, since I lost my original receipt and didn't want to fight with the big box store I figured I would call Belkin's warranty line directly, I had always had good luck with other hardware manufacturers for this sort of thing.

WOW what a terrible experience. About 5 phone calls and over 2.5 hours on the phone. The first tech I spoke with did the typical unplug, replug, unplug replug script they have and I spent over an hour going through this with him. He said he approved my return but didn't give me a case number or any options for taking care of the replacement before hanging up on me. I decided not to mess with it any more and went and got a new modem/wireless router combo from motorola to solve my problem at home, it doesn't have as many features as the belkin but I know if something happens to it under warranty, motorola will take care of it.

So a couple of weeks later I decide, I'm gonna get this thing replaced, I paid good money for it and it is defective so I call tech support again, get disconnected after the first couple of rounds of unplugging and replugging and rebooting and acting like the tech knew what they were doing. Had to call back and start all over again from scratch, a very nice but technically unsavvy gentleman dealt with me this time and again I had to start the troubleshooting process over, this took forever, and the redundancy was absolutely HORRIBLE, their tech support script seems designed to get you frustrated with the tech and make you hang up, I stuck with it and finally the tech said "I found that your unit is defective, I will give you a case number and you can get it replaced"

Other Thoughts: I thought, "AWESOME, Now we can move on, it was a pain but Belkin will actually live up to their warranty" so he gives me the case number over the phone and then I also get an email from rma@belkin.com regarding how to proceed, see the guy on the phone can't actually get your replacement ordered, that would be too user friendly and wouldn't put another roadblock in your way making you finally give up and realize that Belkin's warranty is utter malarky. You now have to take your case number and put it into Belkin's return page and move forward from there. I initially thought, "Ok, not the best option but I will stick with it." and click the link on the email I get.... The page I come to, (the email link already had the case number in it) says that they can't find that case number and I have to re-enter it... ok weird so I re-enter it, magically everything on Belkin's website works up until you click that button to submit a case number, then just nothing happens... It's glaringly obvious that they want it to be as difficult as possible to get them to live up to their warranty, I've used every major browser to try and submit this form and the same thing happens every time, Belkin's website works great until you submit, then magically their server doesn't respond to you anymore!

So, you might be able to safely buy this from NewEgg since they are so good at warranties and customer service, but I for one will never buy a belkin product again and as I am the "tech" guy for my company and all of my family members, none of them will either. I can't stand when a company won't stand behind their product, seriously Belkin, if you don't believe in your products enough to actually make a warranty claim easy and possible, why have a warranty at all? Just put "no warranty" somewhere on the package and "even if we had one we would make it so hard to make a claim that you will give up"

Seriously there are plenty of hardware companies out there with better products and WAY better service. Pick something else.

Pros: Absolutely none

Cons: There was nothing good about this unit, model F9K1102V2:

- Was impossible to connect via WiFi
- The user interface was for kids
- Never got more than 2 or 3 bars (out of 5) signal strength in the 2.4GHz frequency
- Did not broadcast the 2.4GHz wireless SSID even though I had that option checked.
- Took forever and a day to load its own router pages
- Could not maintain a WiFi connection even if I was able to connect

Other Thoughts: I tried all possible configuration change combinations, thinking something would get this unit working. But nothing worked. I could not connect farther than about 10 feet from this unit with WiFi. With a long CAT5 cable, I could probably connect several hundred feet, but that would basically obviate the need for this wireless router.

I have the same model, but version 1 (F9K1102V1), which was a bigger unit. It works fantastic. So either this V2 unit is seriously manufactured-defective, or it is exceptionally poorly designed. It is certainly non-functional in its present state.

Belkin has always had good products in the past, in my experience. But my recommendation is to avoid this V2 model until Belkin either fixes it or replaces it.

Pros: It works but has less than desirable thru put for gaming ,has loads of features, BUT READ BELOW

Cons: Features don't always work keeps looking for internet time to access the parental control panel its easily accessable to modify but I wished it would be more consistant

Other Thoughts: ghost setup working in the background as blahblah by belkin want it to be mine only, very uncomfortable feeling

Pros: I bought this router 6 months ago to replace my old Linksys 54 after several hours on line trying to get magic jack to work with it. This Belkin installed in minutes and magic jack immediately became problem free. This router has great range in my house streaming Netflix to the master bedroom upstairs to the far corner of the house. New cable box in living room is wireless also, no need to cable it. Never had a problem yet.

Cons: None. great router. Glad I bought it.

Pros: works well after doing a system restore without the software install

Cons: installing the software messed up my pc had to do a systems restore to make it work it messed up my home page connecting to the e net. couldnt get on at all

Pros: Dual band lots of options easy to set up

Cons: No GB interface and most of all the wifi dies, some of my devices would work others not factory reset did not solve the issue.

I believe it is heat related due to the lack of vents

Other Thoughts: the device has a 2 year warranty but only 60 days of phone support how the #$#@# are you supposed to email them if your router is not working

Pros: Purchased this router as an upgrade/replacement for an older model router I had so I would have decent speeds to play Xbox Live as well as stream video online. I've owned this router over a year now. For the first 6 - 8 months it performed admirably. My speeds were decent, the open NAT worked very well with Xbox Live, and overall it was issue free.

Cons: After that 6-8 month period it would start dropping its connection randomly. The blue light would flash and it would usually pick up the connection and transmit again. It would do this whether I was actively using my network or my network was idle. I moved to another state in the August '12 time frame and set it up as it had been before my move. Since then, it will randomly power down even while plugged in. My modem is on the same outlet/surge protector and remains lit and connected at all times. I have to physically remove the A/C plug and plug it back in to restore power. It typically doesn't go more than a day or two before this needs to be done. Occasionally this may need to be done several times a day. I can be streaming a Netflix movie and it will lose its connection or power done completely. I also seem to have lost my 5GHz transmission. I've checked the router and updated the firmware and ensured that the 5GHz band is check marked and transmitting but I receive nothing.

Other Thoughts: While I haven't had issues with Belkin problems before, the issues I am dealing with now (dropping connections while in an active Xbox Live match etc...) are unacceptable and I've decided to try another manufacturer when I am able to update and upgrade my home network.
