2 out of 5 eggsWish it would just die already

Pros: It will transmit internet wirelessly to devices. Hard to kill (which is a con for me).

Cons: Parent controls don't work, Maxes out at ~20Mbs, Low range

Other Thoughts: My old Linksys G router finally died at a bad time, so I had to run to a local store for a quick replacement. Got this router. I made the mistake of using the setup CD that came with it (not needed). It worked, but my old Linksys G had better range and seemed more reliable. I have kids with devices and I wanted to shut down the internet at a certain time of night. This didn't work (they could still use the internet after the cutoff time would come). I tried calling Belkin support for help on three different occasions but to no avail. We would go through the settings and try, but it would not work. The support people would just get to a point where they would not know what to do. Recently I upgraded my internet service to 50Mbs. I plugged directly to the modem and was getting ~60Mbs. When I go through the router I am only getting ~20Mbs. This is even if I am sitting less than a foot away. This drops to 15Mbs when I go to a different room around 15 feet away. All five people in the house have been using wireless signal successfully. We are averaging around ~12Mbs when everyone is using at the same time. Now, I am looking for a new router for an upgrade. Don't want to spend the money for a new one as long as this one is crawling still. If it would just die, I would NEED to get an upgrade. Moral of the story is the router will work in a pinch, but I wouldn't buy this if I was in the market for a good performing router (speed and distance).

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Zachary,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Belkin N450 (F9K1105) router. Allow us to assist you and improve your Belkin experience. Adjusting the router's wireless channel will help improve the connection. Most recommended channels are 6, 9, 11, and 1. We recommend that you try all available channels and choose the one that works best with your network. Relocating the devices will help minimize physical obstruction and improve the wireless range too.

1 out of 5 eggs5ghz failing.

Pros: 2.4 ghz spectrum works.

Cons: The physical design is pretty terrible. The vertical stand is flimsy and whole thing falls over very easily.
I started using the 5ghz band recently to stream movies from my media server to my media center pc. After only a few minutes of use the router just stops broadcasting on the 5ghz spectrum and has to be reset. This pretty much renders my whole media center setup useless since it can't transfer data fast enough on the 2.4ghz band.

1 out of 5 eggsNice Look but not for Today's speeds

Pros: Router has a nice look too it and is extremely easy to set up with a nice dashboard. Dashboard is mobile responsive with no problems.

Cons: Never had any issues with this router until I upgraded my internet speed from 15Mb down to 50Mb down. I then noticed I am hitting only about 22-25 on average Mb speed tests. When connecting my PCs directly to router I hit between 50Mb-55Mb downstream speed tests.

4 of my 7 devices I've tested are capable of connecting at 40Mhz bandwidth 5GHz (dual band) however still slow speeds. My 1 desktop and 2 laptops show a throughput of about 54Mbps occasionally jumping up to 58Mbps.

I have toggled every setting on this laptop on/off, switched to every channel one by one (both single and dual band), disabled/enabled intellistream, toggled firewall, etc. You name it I've changed it.

This is not a cable quality issue nor a range/signal strength issue. This router simply only pushes speeds relevant to a 802.11g regardless of if you force only an 'n' connection or connect through dual band.

I've restarted router several times, performed a couple factory resets, firmware is fully updated. I've tested 7 devices one by one.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for an easy set up then you might want to consider this router but if your pushing speeds that demand a true N connection (if your internet down speed is greater then about 25Mbps) then this router is definitely not for you.

I have never given a negative feedback/review about any product I have ever purchased, but after spending hours troubleshooting this router I am ready to pull my hair out and would honestly advice everyone to plz plz plz not purchase this router if you have decent internet speeds. dual band speed has no impact and really does nothing it's as if this router is 802.11g on the inside but 'a,n' on the inside.

Sorry Belkin, you guys make great products and I may have a centralized issue on this router (wish it could get fixed) but after spending the money on something like this It completely infuriates me.

If I had no issues or is something that could be corrected I would have rated 5 of 5 eggs.

2 out of 5 eggsBad purchase

Pros: Price, Wireless N, parental controls to limit internet after hours (if that's your thing). Seems to work ok for media streaming wirelessly.

Cons: I upgraded my connection from 20mbps to 50 mbps but power cycling this router didn't change the connection speed. I actually had to reset all of my settings to get the new speed to register. I tried everything with the tech before realizing this had to be done. Eventually I had to RMA this because it flaked out and dropped my connection constantly (and I mean like after every five minutes, not like every other day). Second router eventually (4-6 months later) started lagging my team fights in League of Legends. It took me months to figure this out. I thought it was my video card overheating because the ping registered at a solid 99-101 ms every time it happened. Eventually I hooked directly to the modem and discovered there was no more lag in team fights. Hooked back to the router, and lag came back. I disabled a few settings (this router only has a few settings, it's no DDWRT or even a stock Netgear), turned off Intellistream, turned off my parental controls on my kid's iPod...no luck. I will try a few more things but honestly this product has been nothing but a big headache. The range isn't great either, I can hardly get a signal in my bathroom which is like 30 feet away on the same floor. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid like the plaque

Pros: None

Cons: So far have had 3 of the same and none work adequately.
One works only as a router--its nearly stopped working when I tried setting it as an access point.
My second one completely stopped working when I tried setting it as an access point. It was recently returned under RMA. The replacement arrived today and has the same issue. It is unable to be even hard reset. I experienced so much frustration with technical support today that I hung up. I am essentially out the cost of a router along with the RMA shipping. Will never go near Belkin again.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible range

Pros: Ease of setup, features, appealing form factor.

Cons: The range on this is quite terrible. I got it because it supported wireless n, and my AT&T Uverse stock wireless router did not. But it as far less range than that router which only supports at max wireless g, basically making it useless for me for what I was hoping to do with it because it simply doesn't have the transmit power to reach. Transmit power and ratings mean a lot more than I expected for a mere 40 feet. Guess I'm back on my 3 year old stock AT&T provided wireless router and in the market for something that's got more power.

Other Thoughts: Bought this one at Walmart on a whim, shoulda done more research - every time I buy something not from NewEgg I find trouble!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Brian,

Thank you for writing. The router you have does support more than G speeds. Please write us at customercare@belkin.com and we will have a technician work with you to get your speeds running faster.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: Inexpensive, functional, reliable

Cons: No "DHCP IP Reservation"

Other Thoughts: This is your basic "get R dun" kind of router. I had no issues getting it set up and working. I've ran 2 Xboxes, 5 Computers (at least) and other devices like iPhones, iPads, Samsung Phones. I run streaming apps like Netflix, and stream from my own computers music with iTunes and Media Center, videos file shares etc - no problems VERY happy for the reliability and cost. But, for flexiblity...getting to nuts and bolts tweaking, modifying the OS (dd-wrt) - this is not your router. The only "problem" I have is using 5GHz with my iPad; not sure it's a Router or iPad Problem - they both work with other 5ghz options just not together. 2Ghz - no issues.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello J,

Thank you for writing your review. Drop us a line at customercare@belkin.com and we can have a technician contact you and see if they can resolve the 5ghz issue you are having.

3 out of 5 eggssolved one problem made another

Pros: good for web browsing

Cons: will not port forward.does not connect at 150mbs like my netgear does from the same distance

Other Thoughts: I got this because my netgear was disconnecting and lagging my xbox360 now i can play mw3 and borderlands just fine.but it will not port forward at all.I have a hp media server i want to use dyndns to access it from anywhere,so i set up the ports, dmz everything. and when i got to my dyndns site all i get is the router login page,i even have the remote connect disabled in the router.i plugged in my netgear worked like a champ but then ill have the xbox360 issues again.so its a lose lose situation.if i had known that this router cant port forward i wouldn't have bought it.what the point of a router that cant route ports?

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsNot for even casual gamer

Pros: Fairly easy to set up
Works ok for basic web surfing

Cons: Can not get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 to play using this router
Belkin tech support is awful

Other Thoughts: I was orginally satisfied with this router- Set up was easy and it seemed to work fine. But then I tried to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. It tells me the game is unavailable. So I try to play several times over the next week or so. After several tries I go online and find that the router causes this message(not game avvailability) and I try some fixes I see to no avail.

I contact Belkin support through live chat and also phone calls. About 4 hours later, multiple calls and chat, still unable to play the game. The techs can hardly speak english, do not seem to know what they are doing, and have never heard of this game-one of the best selling titles of all time.

The experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I will not be able to purchase another Belkin product or recommend one to anybody.

4 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: So far its a much improvement over my older net gear router, I could immediately tell the difference.

Cons: Had trouble with the factory wireless password but tech support fixed that.
Yes there's a 40 second wait each time you change settings but i doubt ill have to make any more changes.

Other Thoughts: There's a lot of mixed reviews on belkin routers but so far mines working fine and i'm happy with it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,
