5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I expected

Pros: This extender is ridiculously good. Extending Belkin Play N600 dual-band and everything "just works".

Took just 5mins to setup: pick your existing wireless network, login, confirm signal, power down and relocate the extender to a new location that already receives original wireless signal. Done.

The setup screens were barebones with just what's needed, but isn't that the point? I wanted a toaster not configurable 180-button doohickey. ;)

My router is in my basement closet. Have a good signal in the basement and main level but upstairs signal is weak and drops, breaking streaming media like Netflix, etc. Put the new extender on the main level and upstairs I now get a 5-bars signal for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands! I never got 5 GHz band upstairs before --- Wow!

Lastly, no clue what AmShank is talking about and the line-of-site nonsense. Perhaps he has plaster walls with interior wire meshing? My extender is connecting to the router through 2 walls and a floor ju

Cons: Haven't confirmed if network speed is reduced yet. If so, I'll log back in and redo the rating.

Other Thoughts: My issue (before having the extender) was too many drops at the outer range of my wireless N router.

Now with this extender in between, I don't drop any more. Netflix, Xbox, etc. work great without hiccups.

No more wi-fi tech support questions for the wifie!

5 out of 5 eggsCareful of the wrapping

Pros: Extremely easy to setup

Cons: This is the second unit I've owned. The first one worked fine until I removed the plastic contact sheets from the base and two sides of the range extender. There was so much static electricity generated during removal of the plastic that I fried the inner electronics and the unit stopped working immediately, never to function again.

Other Thoughts: I've left the plastic contact sheets on the unit for fear of frying the electronics, and it works well that way

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsEasy setup but reduced speed

Pros: Easy setup. got me running in no time

Cons: I purchased this for extending my current 802.11g wireless range. Though this is a high speed dual band range extender but it reduced my existing wireless connectivity speed from 15 MBPS to 6 to 8 MBPS. Though I do not expect it to improve my speed but I do not expect this to reduce my wireless speed to 50% either. I have read the manual (I am an IT professional) and made sure all settings are correct. I have tested the speed thru 3 different speed test sites and they all reported same results. It does extends the range but at the expense of 50% reduction in connectivity speed. Returning therefore.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good!

Pros: Purchased strictly to be used as an access point paired with a Belkin N300 router. Wanted to connect security camera system to network without running a cable through the house. Very easy to set up and works exactly as hoped. Had it up and running in under 15 minutes. It is not line of sight and picked up the signal easily. It is 50-60 feet away from the router and going through three walls fine. In much of the house the range extender has a stronger signal than the router.

Cons: Not any that I can think of right now. I have it tucked away in a cabinet and it barely fit. If you are purchasing and planning on stashing it somewhere, double check the dimensions to make sure it fits fine.

Other Thoughts: I have only had it for a few days, so there hasn't been much time for a problem to occur. I don't expect any though and wanted to write a review while I had it on my mind. If anything unexpected does happen, I will certainly come back and update.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!!!

Pros: Easy 2 min setup, able to repeat 2.4GHz and 5 GHz at the same time. Boosted signal to around 100% throughout rear part of house and the entire backyard. 4 LAN ports built in.

Cons: Pretty steep price for what it is...

Other Thoughts: The main reason I bought this range extender was for the 4 LAN ports on back. It was around the same price as a Xbox wireless adapter but with this you get the benefit of an increase signal too. Range extender creates an extension "_xt" to your existing SSID so you can choose the stronger signal. This range extender is setup with 3 Belkin N600 Dual-Band Wireless-N+ USB Adapters to PC's in bedrooms. Main signal is coming from a Belkin N600 Dual-Band Wireless-N+ Router.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Performer

Pros: I like the concept but does not perform.

Cons: Item must be within line of site with host router in order to function. Does not work well in two story structures. I saw no noticable increase in wireless bandwidth over output from FIOS router

Other Thoughts: Cat 5 drops, AP's or wired antenna is a better solution.

Manufacturer Response:
