5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: inexpensive, easy wat to resore life to older pcmcia laptop (my old HP omnibook 900)- run cd, insert card- you have nice little netbook

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: shame the pcmcia slots not so common now- much more stable, secure way of changing various functionalities.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card for old laptop

Pros: Easy to setup, Non-intrusive Link/Activity lights, give you 802.11 b/g WiFi with WEP and WPK support.
Worked out of the box for Ubuntu 9.10, and with included drivers in Windows XP SP3.

Cons: In Windows, to use a WPK network, you have to use the Ralink utility. I could not get the default Windows wifi utility to give me a WPK option when connecting to a network.

Other Thoughts: This PCMCIA card is assisting an old IBM Thinkpad T22 with a 900mhz Pentium III and 512MB of RAM. I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to extra/unnecessary processes. I'd much rather use the Windows wifi ultility over the ralink.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Linux compatibilty

Pros: Very affordable. Easy set up (no set up really, just plug it in) in (Ubuntu 9.10) Linux. Reliably connects to my wifi at 54 mbps. Seems to be sturdily constructed. Has lights for lan and activity.

Cons: It's not 802.11 n. b/g only. If you're only looking for b/g connectivity this is not a con.

Other Thoughts: I have an old Dell C510 notebook that never had wireless. I added a wifi access point in my house and picked up one of these cards for the notebook. Super easy in Ubuntu 9.10. Just plug in the card and it's immediately detected and the network manager quickly finds all the b/g access points in range. Click on the one you want and you're in. Once you enter a password for a network, it reconnects to it automatically without issues. Works reliably after suspend or hibernate in my old Dell c510.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Good

Pros: Good product at a good price.
Free Shipping
Works OOTB with Puppy, Linux Mint Gloria, Zenwalk and Windows XP (yeah, I know... too many OS'es on one laptop!)

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I was just looking for a decent PCMCIA card to give my older laptop wireless capabilities... this one fit the bill, was compatible with all of my OSes and didn't break the bank.

5 out of 5 eggsEDIMAX ROCKS!!

Pros: Affordable. Simple unobtrusive design. Feels to be built better than both the N3tG3ar and L1nksys pieces I have used in the past. Did I mention affordable?

Cons: None at this point.

Other Thoughts: I have used several of the 802.11G PCI cards for customers wanting an affordable wifi desktop, but this is my first of these. I just picked up a lot of DELL C-series laptops that needed a quick wifi fix and EDIMAX seems to have fit the bill just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsIt does what it is supposed too

Pros: works fine, does what it is supposed to do. I was upgrading an old laptop from 2000. This fit the bill.

Cons: can't really say to much.

Other Thoughts: I would consider this brand again.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: -It works as intended.

Cons: -Couldn't install the drivers manually, needed to run their setup utility and was forced to install the networking software (needless bloat).

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a replacement for the stock wireless adapter because it was defective somehow.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Works great in both Windows XP and Linux (PCLinuxOS).

Cons: Appears to work only with WEP in Linux.

Other Thoughts: This card has been working for some time and picks up the wireless signal nice and strong.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with Ubuntu.

Pros: This was the second of 2 of these that I have bought to "spruce up" a neighbors PC and a PIII laptop that I picked up for $5 at a garage sale. Both installed quickly and were recognized by Ubuntu 8.10. Great deal from Newegg as always!

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 8 months

Pros: Cheap. Easy setup. Worked well initially

Cons: Died after 8 months. It just stopped working. My laptop can detect the card, but cannot actually use it. No lights come on.

Other Thoughts: My previous Netgear card worked for several years. Should have stayed with a reputable brand.
