3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, and it works: sometimes.

Cons: I run it in station-infrastructure mode to connect my PC to the main wireless router in the apartment. With WPA2 enabled it frequently ceases to function without warning, and begins functioning again in a similar fashion. Without it enabled it always works, but then strangers start using the network. Sometimes reconfiguring it and changing the channel works, other times it doesn't help at all. I don't really know what to do about it except find a different product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

The BR-6258n in Station-Infrastructure mode use the same wireless channel of your main Wi-Fi router. While you setup the BR-6258n, you can view all the Wi-Fi networks around you. Observe the wireless channel used by the Wi-Fi networks of your neighbors. Avoid your main Wi-Fi router use the same or close wireless channel with them.

1 out of 5 eggsLoses wireless signal every 10 minutes

Pros: Small, somewhat easy to set up

Cons: Have to download manual from their website to get any real explanation of functionality. Wireless disconnects me every 10 minutes and requires me to reboot the router. After i lose connections i cannot reconnect to the router without rebooting it. Completely useless.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: This unit is exactly what I needed. I had no problems tying it into a UBEE cable modem. Its Compact so its easy to take with us when we travel. I tried it as a wireless adapter too and it works perfect. I live in a single story home and placed close to the center of the house i keep a signal to all points of my property line. Setting up the security was a breeze also. I have yet to set it up as a repeater but prior reviews have indicated that this unit performs fine in that function.

Cons: Because its so small it doesn't want to sit flat when you plug all the cables into it. Very minor nusance fixed with some velcro.

Other Thoughts: I would not have bought this unit if it were not all the good buyer reviews. Most of my purchases are researched and thought out. This was a true winner. I got it at 29.99 and if I get a year of use out of it I'll be happy.

2 out of 5 eggsIt works well, but the USB socket separated from the motherboard

Pros: It is very small and doesn't require a transformer. I was able to get a good signal from the device.

Cons: After a month the USB jack separated itself from the motherboard, which prevented it from receiving power.

Other Thoughts: I wonder it it would last if it was plugged in once and never disconnected? I need one that can stand repeated plugging in and unplugging. The features are fine, but too bad it's unlikely to hold up for any road warrior.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a great repeater.

Pros: Small size. Once you get the setup figured out, it works quite well. All of our devices connect to it quickly, from phones to tablets and laptops. No connection issues and nice speeds.

Cons: The directions are useless, you need to go online to get the differing setup .PDF files for AP, Router and Repeater functions. I really wanted to use this for a repeater, router we have now doesn't make it to the back of the house. Too many corners. I tried repeatedly to get it to do the job, but it just wouldn't. It would connect to the internet, the network could see it, the devices could connect to it, but nothing connected to the repeater could connect to the internet. I tried a couple of different ways to set it up besides the manufacturer's .PDF, but no luck. Finally I had to set it up as a separate router (luckily my house has a wired LAN), where it is now working fine.

Other Thoughts: Think twice if you're going to try to use this as a repeater.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Hotel Router

Pros: Awesome router for travel and use in hotels. My work laptop has a finicky VPN setup and just won't work in a lot of hotels. This router plugs in, configures itself and allows me to start working right away. It also lets me use my iPad personal laptop, work laptop and any other Wi-Fi device all through a single connection. Works every time! Plus it's tiny and light as a feather.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Get one while you can...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Size, speed, range, price

Cons: It's a bit tricky to set up the wifi repeater mode, but I found a tutorial on their site.

Other Thoughts: I work at an auto-shop. My boss has high-speed internet in the main office but the router had a seriously hard time getting the signal through a solid wall of wood, steel, and insulation. The range was only about 10-15 feet from that one spot. You'd have to sit right next to the wall to do anything. So I ordered the Edimax router because of it's positive reviews and the fact that it can extend the wifi signal. Also it's super tiny so nobody would even notice it's there.

I brought it along with my laptop to work. It took about 10 min to set it up correctly using the instructions on their site. The signal covered the entire shop. The room size is around 90x70. I had to go all the way into a corner to get less than 3 bars.

IMPORTANT TIP! If you decide to get this router for the same reason I did(wifi extending), the instructions will recommend that you change the routers main IP address from 192.168.2.1 to something else, DO it. Change the last number to a 2 or whatever you like otherwise you may have an IP conflict.

5 out of 5 eggsEDIMAX Nano Router

Pros: This little guy is amazing. Great speeds for such a tiny thing. If you're not savvy with routers and you need a quick Wi-Fi Access Point, this is the thing to get the job done. Cheap as all hell and takes up no space at all. Has an "IQ Setup" Which sets everything up automatically once you login to the router and you're online in seconds.

Cons: None that I can think of.
