1 out of 5 eggson Windows 8 = terrible

Pros: easy install

Cons: constant disconnects from my wireless while my laptop right next to the PC was rock solid
frequently when attempting to reconnect to my wireless network, my entire PC would lock up, switched to a different wireless card, problem solved

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

It is abnormal that the EW-7722In adapter would lock up the Windows 8 system. Maybe the unit is defective. We have 2 years warranty for our products. If you need to get it replaced, please contact our tech support at (408)988-6092 or write an email to " support@edimax.us ". Our tech support team will assist you with the issue.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great connection when working, never had any connection reliability issues.

Cons: Will occasionally get put in some state where it will repeatedly cause my entire computer to freeze for a half second or so, makes playing games impossible and really frustrating when it does this. The only way to get it to stop this behavior is to disable and re-enable the card, which will disconnect me from whatever game I'm playing online.

After putting up with this for a while I finally decided to switch to my trusty old wireless usb dongle, which has a weaker signal but at least it doesn't freeze up my computer.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: When it's working correctly, the reception is great.

Cons: I've had a ton of problems with the card. It cuts out every now and again and takes several minutes to find the network again. It also locks up or slows down the I/O on my computer sometimes and the only way I've found to fix it is to reboot. The driver it comes with is outdated and the driver Windows automatically installs seems to do a much better job.

Other Thoughts: If you're just buying this card for casual web browsing then it may not be the end of the world, but it is extremely frustrating when it cuts out or lags I/O when gaming. I'm finally giving up on the card 4 months after buying it and switching to a more trusted brand.

3 out of 5 eggsBuggy, but ok

Pros: Works well enough and easy to install.

Cons: Drops connection about 2 minutes after starting up computer. Claims I have an internet connection, but cannot access anything internet related. Reconnecting to the wireless network solves this problem and it doesn't happen again until the computer is restarted.

Other Thoughts: My con is more of an inconvenience than anything, but once I figured out how to deal with it its not really a big deal. For $15 I'm willing to put up with it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry that you need to manually reconnect to the wireless network after starting up computer.

We are not sure which OS your computer has. Is it Windows XP or Windows 7? Windows has its built-in wireless configuration. While there is an inconsistence between our wireless utility and the Windows built-in wireless settings, the wireless adapter would fail to make the WiFi connection automatically.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick and Easy

Pros: Quick installation, and worked immediately upon first boot. No disc or utility required. Simply installed, powered up, input my network key and that's it. Just as fast as my [previously] wired connection, too. Picked this up for $15 on a Shell Shocker deal and couldn't be happier.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Integrated easily with an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard in a Rosewill ATX Ranger case.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy and works

Pros: Easy to install, Driver installation worked like a charm

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Wireless g at 54.0 Mbps but I think that has more to do with my old router than the card's capabilities. Got this card at the newegg deal price of $20 and it was a steal

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems at all

Pros: I've been running this card for a few months now and it's been a champ for me. Windows install was able to get online with it and then updated driver manually. Running like a champ, and fast.

Cons: Because the antennae are on the card behind the computer, reception might not be as good as one that has a wire running to an antennae that you could put up in the air. But I'm getting four bars with the router through a few walls and the PC tucked in the corner. So no worries.
