2 out of 5 eggsworked for a few months...

Pros: can assign static IP's.

Cons: bought it in january. in june it stopped connecting to my cable modem. i cannot connect to the internet though this edimax router, but i can with my old wrt54g. such a shame, i liked it very much when it worked.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

It looks like the cable modem not recognize the router. The cable modem records the MAC address of the old wrt54g router. You may call your Cable Internet Provider to reset the cable modem for you.

If your Cable ISP can not assist you, please give it a call. We can perform the "Clone MAC Address" for you then the router can work with your cable modem.

Please contact our tech support at (408)-988-6092 or write an email to " support@edimax.us ". Our tech support team will assist you with the issue. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you.

Best regards,
Edimax Tech Support Team

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great as Access Point

Pros: Easy to configure
Wireless speeds are great
Gigabit LAN ports
Dual Band

Cons: 60 second reboot between changes (not a big deal)

Other Thoughts: I use a PFSENSE Router/firewall using this device as an Access Point. I can actually get Wireless N speed out of this baby.
2.4 Ghz runs faster than my last access point (however my area is saturated with 2.4 signals.
5 Ghz I am getting 160-170 Mb/s which is the best I have seen.
I would recommend this to anyone.

2 out of 5 eggsWeird WAN problem

Pros: Great WLAN speed with Edimax EW-7722UTn USB 2.0 adapter. I used InSSIDer to find the least-used Wi-Fi channel. LAN speed as expected. Nice price.

Cons: Internet/WAN connection slow and intermittent for all devices. Some browser pages would load, gradually; others would time out with DNS errors.

Nothing in the router's settings seemed amiss. I updated the router's firmware, verified the router's and all PCs' DNS settings, and even talked to my DSL ISP's tech support.

Finally, I switched back to my old WRT54GL Linksys router, and the Web connection immediately became fast and reliable again. Think I'll save up for an 802.11ac setup instead.

Other Thoughts: Nice looking case. Antennas seem to be high-quality. No fun to wait 60 secs for a settings change, but it does reboot the router and thus probably prevents some unnecessary problems.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good!

Pros: Good 5GHz coverage,
4 Gigabit ports,
Very reasonable price.

Cons: The web interface is a bit clunky in areas with undefined buttons appearing in places.

Other Thoughts: The router does a very good job for a very reasonable price. This is a replacement for a router that cost about 3 times the price and went phut after 5 months, the Edimax seems to outperform it in terms of range of 5GHz, throughput is about the same. I've used Edimax USB wifi dongles before, this is my first router and I am impressed.

5 out of 5 eggsStable Router

Pros: Once configured this router has worked well for me with no problems and no frequent rebooting required. Edimax lack of brand recognition is not a problem. Buy this router. Newegg fast service.

Cons: 5GHz Narrow Range

Other Thoughts: Had to create my own wall mount with a rubberband and a couple of screws because this router has no wall moutning holes like most small home switches and routers. I bought this model due to the dual band at a low price with other desireable features. I have yet to be able to connect to teh 5Ghz band either because I have no compatible wireless devises or because teh signal broadcast distance is too narrow. I undestand it natural so not a con for Edimax router. Wish it had guest log-in feature but for the price, I have no complaints.

2 out of 5 eggsProgressively Worse

Pros: The router worked great for the first few months. Maximum connection speeds were obtainable at moderate range.

Cons: After about three months of use, the router began to drop wireless connections several times per week. Sometimes the connection would recover after a few minutes, other times it would require a manual restart. The problem grew more frequent over the next few months. I contacted Edimax tech support and they sent me instructions on basic router configuration, which did not help. Now, 9 month later, the unit drops connections several times per hour. I had to dust off my trusty Tomato powered DD-WRT54G to act as a temp replacement until Edimax responds to my support request. The firmware interface needs work. It does not maintain system or security logs between reboots. It currently does not run any open source firmware.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully it just got a faulty unit and Edimax will do the right thing.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

5 out of 5 eggsEDIMAX BR-6475nD

Pros: High data rate, dual band, feature rich, inexpensive, easy to operate the setup utility. Signal strength is high everywhere in a 2 story house.

Cons: You do need to think through what settings you will need and to learn what the terms mean and to be patient while it re-boots.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to improve my wireless throughput and connection reliability. Last Fall (2012) I saw the special on this router and could not resist giving it a try. Since it has been in operation it has exceeded my expectations. We have laptops, mobile devices, home environment and security monitoring, wireless adapter in a desktop, plus LAN routing - all handled without a problem and secure. One of my granddaughters commented on the improved speed.

The router setup tool enables you to set the parameters to fit your network. It took me a few days work to finally settle on a satisfying result. I am not sure I made the very best choices but they work very well.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat router

Pros: I have been using a belkin router for the past 5 years, based on its previos reliability I bought a new belkin dual band for about 70.00 here at newegg, I tried evrything under the sun and could not get it to sink up with my modem, I called belkin and they told me for service charge of 25.00 they would go into my registry and fix the problem.. i said hell no,, or in indian: boobaloo uugaala . anyway this lead me to look for another router,, I was a bit nervous not knowing the brand name , but after reading some reviews i dicided to get this one,, it set up flawlessly and ive had no issues whatsoever,,

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsvery happy with edimax

Pros: - looks nice
- fairly easy to setup
- worked out of the box and had all the pieces
- very good range

Cons: - did not come with up to date firmware
- did not come with a manual

Other Thoughts: - I have been happy with this edimax. i took a chance on the unknown name to replace a dying old rosewill. upon opening the box and seeing no manual, i went to edimaxis website and downloaded the manual and firmware. the website was easy to navigate.

firmare installed was over a year old. however updating it was easy and fast.

setup was a breeze and this thing has a ton of options. the parental controls are great. i can pick when, or for how long my kids can access the internet, by their mac addresses. WONDERFUL!

range is great. i have had ZERO issues with the xbox, wi or android tablets from anywhere in our 2 story home.

4 out of 5 eggsReplacement Router

Pros: This was the lowest cost Wireless-N Dual Band Gigabit router I was able to find. It is a lot smaller than my previous Wireless-G Netgear. I found this router to be fairly easy to set up (see Cons section below). Once up and running I have had no issues with this router. The range on the 2.4GHz band is much better than my previous Netgear and the speed on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are great! This router has pretty much every feature you could ask for in a router in this price range. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Cons: In order to get it to work with my Motorola surfboard cable modem, I had to update the firmware on the router (only took a couple minutes to grab from the Edimax website) as well as manually click the "Clone Mac Address" button on the WAN screen. By default the Mac address field came populated with all 0's and would not pull an IP address from my modem.
