5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great as AP

Pros: It works great as an AP. It's been up and running, once configured, for months and it just works.

Cons: It's a little tricky to set up as an AP, but not too bad, unless you're not technical or don't have experience setting up wireless routers.

Other Thoughts: Can't beat it for the price.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: null.

Cons: Trash.
Had to power cycle it every-so-often b/c it would constantly lose it's connection.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the headache. Just get a newer modeled Netgear or something.

1 out of 5 eggsHelp please

Pros: Sometimes it works.

Cons: Sometimes it doesn't.

Other Thoughts: Is there a mode that is known to be stable with this? I'd prefer not to return it, but the signal is dropped every couple of minutes. It has gotten very annoying. The latest firmware has been applied.

I am writing this via another wifi router (which belongs to my neighbor, not Edimax brand) because the connection is perfectly reliable; i.e., my PC adapter is not the issue.

All I need is a basic secured connection, which should not be asking too much in this day and age... Edimax Technology?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you had experienced.

While the Wi-Fi connection drops, do you have the WLAN LED flashing on the router?

Does your PC the only Wi-Fi device experiencing the issue? If so, maybe there is a compatibility between the Wi-Fi adapter of your PC with our router. Can you try update the driver of the Wi-Fi adapter?

We have 2 years warranty for our products. You may want to contact us for a replacement.

You can contact our tech support at (408)988-6092 or write an email to " support@edimax.us ". Our tech support team will assist you with the issue.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet!

Pros: This review is for AP client/wireless bridge (station-infrastructure) mode.

Easy setup using tips from FAQ at edimax.com.
Stable connection runs all the time.
Multiple ports for TV, DVR, disc player, etc.
Great for entertainment/media centers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: IMO the best value out there in an AP client/wireless bridge device. Set it and forget it. It just works.

3 out of 5 eggsConstantly needs rebooting

Pros: Nothing special. Convenient, when it works.

Cons: My house has been added on to, so there is an outside wall running through the middle of my house. I am using this as an access point in the kids playroom. The two other access points have weak signals there because of the walls, so the kids use this instead of eating our data plans on their iPhones. At least once a week we start getting the cannot connect error and have to reboot it. It is set up right and sees very little traffic compared to the main part of the house.

There is a wire run from my main router to a Netgear Gigabit switch next to this and a computer and bluray player hooked up to the switch. They have no problem with gigabit transfer speeds or connectivity.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

Since you already have a main router, did you disable the router function of BR-6228nS?
It seems you are using an Ethernet cable from main network to BR-6228nS. Please plug that Ethernet cable to a LAN port of BR-6228nS instead of the WAN port of BR-6228nS. We have a step by step guide at http://www.edimax.us/html/Faq/ConvertWifiRouterToAP.pdf

It is also possible the unit is broken. You may request a replacement unit from us. We have 2 years warranty for all of our products.

You may contact our tech support at (408)988-6092 or write an email to " support@edimax.us ". Our tech support team will assist you with the issue.

1 out of 5 eggsCrâp

Pros: Cost, size, appearance, repeater mode

Cons: It inexplicably and frequently stalls.

Other Thoughts: Initially seemed to work fine. But now the unit stalls every half hour or so. I can't even access its administrative page through a wired connection, so it's the router and not my cable provider.

2 out of 5 eggscut corners and you get what you pay for

Pros: nice to have so tv can connect to the internet

Cons: stops working at random times! works when it wants to. so i just end up disconnecting it when i use my computer and connect directly to the modem, like i did before i bought this PO junk.

Other Thoughts: wish i wouldn't have bought this and went for a well know brand. really guys you get what you pay for.....

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

Did you set the BR-6228nS as a wireless AP client to have a wireless link with an existed WiFi network? If so, it is possible the WiFi channel of your main router is changed then the BR-6228nS lost the connection with it. The solution is to set your main WiFi router with a fixed wireless channel.

You may contact our tech support at (408)-988-6092 or write an email to " support@edimax.us ". Our tech support team will assist you with the issue.
We look forward to the opportunity to serve you.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdated

Pros: Easy connections, good tech support.

Cons: Didn't last, poor quality.

Other Thoughts: I have to update my last post ... 3 months in and device drops connectivity all the time. It's under warranty but the cost of shipping to CA is a waste of money and they don't offer free shipping. Spend a little more money and buy something that is quality.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Eric,

We are sorry about the failure device.

We have 2 years warranty for all of our products. Unfortunately we can not offer two way shipping for RMA. Consumers need to ship the item to us so we can ship out replacement. Thank you for contacting us for support.

Best regards,

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well, Great Support

Pros: I purchased this unit because it was inexpensive compared to other brands and the specs very all very similar. Set up was fast and easy, worked within minutes.

Cons: None, works like expected.

Other Thoughts: Great Support from Edimax. I had a settings error (I think after a power outage) and Edimax email support was excellent. Helped me solve the issue with detailed advice and clear instructions.
