3 out of 5 eggsGood at first

Pros: Simultaneous dual-band router. 2.4 and 5 GHz separate networks and ssid's, which was nice. Fairly high speed, and worked well.

Cons: After 4 months, started having a lot of lockups. This was connected to a older Surfboard cable modem, and after 4 months, we started having the internet drop. It doesn't stay up and connected more than 24-32 hours at a time. After chasing through troubleshooting, it's narrowed down to not being the cable modem, but the Edimax router. :( It kind of stinks because this worked great for a while. Now it's locking up and not passing any traffic through on wireless or wired connections.

Restarting completely works well most of the time, but last night had to factory reset the unit. It's not working hard, small file storage and some streaming Netflix through the Wii, but I have to have reliable internet access for work.

Other Thoughts: It worked great while is lasted. I did file a request for tech support with Edimax, but since this is beyond the return time period, it's probably getting replaced with something more reliable.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsCheap Price, Cheap Design, Cheap Work

Pros: Bought it here in Black Friday sale 2012. Don't remember the price, but it was excellent. The router works right after out of box, good for non-advanced users

Cons: 1) Design. After 8 days of working, the router was stuck. I was ready to create the RMA with newegg, but I discovered: there are ventilation holes... only in the bottom of the device, and there aren't any legs over there. So if you place the router as it suppose to be, the router create its own oven, and will burn up itself. That's probably the real reason of bad reviews about this router.
2) Setup. If you just need to setup wireless and internet connection, this router is for you (just don't forget to place it upside down to avoid overheating). But if you want to setup something else - don't spend time and money with this item. It takes me two hours to setup static IP for 4 computers and 1 wireless printer. The router has the latest firmware v1.13, but you still have to MANUALLY enter the MAC address of each device without colon signs in between two digit groups. You can not copy MAC address from Active Client table, because there are colon signs in between two digit groups. More over, it somehow displays only 1 active client out of 5 devices connected to the router. Only running command "ipconfig /all" on all computers located in the different rooms in the house and read specs on printer finally allowed me to write appropriate info on the piece paper and then manually entered into the router

Other Thoughts: Even though I had problems described into Cons section I was still planning to use this router. But after 2 months working in upside down position, the router stuck again. After this case it become stuck every couple days so I finally decided to give up this guy and buy different router

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It provides the amount of data throughput expecting. It also has a very simply interface with a lot of options though. I look forward to actually getting a 5 ghz n wireless adapter to try out the bandwidth on a 100 mbps line. For now on 2.4 ghz n standard it's registering at about a 20 mbps line which isn't terrible.

Cons: none so far. the led lights are bright so if you plan to have it in a media center then it could be annoying / bothersome

3 out of 5 eggsGood but...

Pros: This seemed to be a good router. I could never get it to work with Windstream because Windstream stopped storing the user name and password in the modem. It was missing the setting I needed. I sent back for a refund which newegg processed very quickly!

Cons: It's hard for me to slam a router for the ISP configuration. So the 3-star (average) rating is fair considering my situation.

Other Thoughts: FYI: Windstream customers (at least in my area) must get a DHCP-enabled router. I got a DHCP-enabled Wireless A router locally and it works like a charm. Sometimes waiting 2-3 days is not an option in our "got to have it now society."

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We appreciate your feedback about working with Windstream.

Windstream is a DSL provider. The WAN of BR-6675nD by default is DHCP - (Dynamic IP). If your DSL modem can not store the PPPoE username and Password, you may set the WAN of BR-6675nD as PPPoE connection type and store your username and password into the router.

2 out of 5 eggsOK, but not with multiple VOIP lines

Pros: Cheap (I got it on sale for about $80), dual band router that was very easy to set up initially. Worked very well for typical home use (netflix, web surfing, single VOIP line).

Cons: Once I had it set up I could not get it to reliably handle my two VOIP lines, my VPN to work and my remote sessions to customers (sometimes all of them in use simultaneously). I don't work from home often, but my ancient (in computer hardware terms) Linksys 54G does a far better job of juggling these things.

The situation did not improve when I started working with the QoS settings. There are no SIP related options. In addition I found I dropped MORE calls after I tried setting up QoS.

Even if I had a movie running and made a VOIP call my friends and family commented on a loss of audio quality, but I wouldn't drop calls until I conferenced in my other VOIP line. Switch back to my 6+ year old 54G and I could not reproduce the problem.

Other Thoughts: If I had just been putting this to typical home use I would probably give it 3-4 eggs (depends on whether I could have permanently resolved the VOIP quality problem when doing other things). Given my need for occasional business use the experiment failed.

I considered experimenting with DD-WRT. It is not supported on this device, but i read a few posts saying it worked. I elected to return it to Newegg instead and will contact them for the RMA after I post this.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: None what so ever

Cons: random powering off

random connection resets

quick start CD did not work

Other Thoughts: One of the worst routers I've ever had the displeasure of trying to install. nothing worked with this router. re-install my old one and everything's right as rain again. Not recommended.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.

We appreciate your feedback and would like to help you solve the problem.

Do you use Cable for Internet service? Usually the Cable modems register the MAC (physical) address of the attached device. Our router is a new device so the cable modem would reject the connection. In the router's page at http://192.168.2.1, go to General Setup >> WAN >> Dynamic IP address, you may use the Clone Mac settings to save the alternative MAC address (the MAC address of the old router) into our router.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 3 months

Pros: Worked perfectly at gigabit speeds for first three months.

Cons: Stopped working after 3 months. Seems like the WAN port stopped working.

Other Thoughts: Wont be buying edimax again, spend more and get some quality.

5 out of 5 eggsBargain buy

Pros: Love it so far. Easy to set-up. Does what it says it will do. 5Ghz ability. Dual band w/ good range. Flexible settings and security options like most good routers. Firmware update made easy with the set-up disk and Edimax website.

Cons: The lights are too bright. It gets warm.

Other Thoughts: This is a good unit. Be sure to do the firmware upgrade -it will make difference in wifi speeds.

Aim this thing at the ceiling and use it as a lamp. It's bright! Why does everything have to have these extremely bright blue lights now days?

Also, you might want to give this one a little breathing room for air circulation. It's a little warm on the bottom where the vent slits are. Can't beat the price - hope it holds up.

4 out of 5 eggsNice. Real Nice

Pros: Fast, easy setup, reliable even after power outages, dual band, friendly - plays well with "others" so far as serving my home wireless LAN..

Cons: None as yet. Very solid unit. Never even had to go into settings since installation. Streams HD video/Audio (from VuDu, etc.) from where my broadband enters my home downstairs to upstairs @>8mbs without any drop-outs, data buffering, or connection faults. It is the best router I have used or bought so far. I have not tried any firmware changes yet - because it works so well "as is".

4 out of 5 eggsSuper Router

Pros: Very easy installation with both the software and the web.
Fast. Moved everything I could to the 5GZ band which helped the laptop 2.4Ghz connection

Cons: Little or no program help within the web config

Other Thoughts: Price was rather fantastic for a dual band gigabit router.
