5 out of 5 eggsPut my office where I wanted it.

Pros: This bridge allowed me to position my home office where I wanted it in my new house, without having to run coax cable there for the network. The bridge works great with two computers (desktop and a laptop dock) and HP network printer.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Documentation was clear. CD was not needed.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap, gets the job done

Pros: Cheap
Reliable
Gets the job done, and then some

Cons: I can really see how the setup would be difficult for people who haven't done networking before.
Occasionally, I experience pages hanging in internet browsers. It seem to happen randomly, but reloading the page fixes it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I did not want to add a wireless card to my desktop computers.
I also repair computers in the same room, and do not want to have to add wireless cards to every desktop I work on.
This bridge is perfect for my use, and I really couldn't be happier.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Price

Cons: None really, could use some more weight to help keep stable when network cables are plugged in.

Other Thoughts: Works as advertised and easy to set up via the web interface.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bridge Out There

Pros: Easy to setup. Connects to a variety of networks. Reliable.

Cons: Plastic casing as opposed to metal.

Other Thoughts: Tested at least 4 other brands claiming bridging capabilities and they could not connect to our network. This sits in a 42 degree warehouse all day every day and has never hiccuped. Couldn't be happier.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: It is small.
Would be good if you were using it to connect non-wireless devices to your network in the same room.

Cons: Does not extend range and my connection is actually slower with it than without.
There is no way to easily get back into the settings with starting over from scratch.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes, but it does not work. My laptop connects to my wireless router at 120mbps. I connect the bridge in same spot, move 10' away (in an open room) and speed drops to 30mbps. Speed test drops from 14.5 to 4.2.

Cannot repack this fast enough

Manufacturer Response:

Dear cj,

We are sorry for the issue you are experiencing with CV-7428nS.

CV-7428nS is not a wireless extender. It can not extent wireless range because it does not send out wireless signal for wireless clients.

You have a wireless link speed 120mbps to the wireless router. We are not sure about your 30mbps link speed because CV-7428nS is not a wireless extender and your laptop can not use wireless to connect to CV-7428nS. If you use Ethernet cable to connect to the CV-7428nS, the link speed should be 100mbps Ethernet speed.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive, yet effective

Pros: I had two printers, a Samsung ML-2851ND and a Brother HL-4040CN, which I needed to convert from wired ethernet to wireless. Newegg had an assortment of offerings, and I also considered just getting a traditional router and setting it up in Bridge mode, but my router is powerful enough, and one of my requirements is a very low power draw, as every watt of power equates to 8.76kW per year of power usage. This device is rated for a maximum of 1A at 5v, or 5w, so it is very efficient, as typical power usage is lower.

Setup was very easy as advertised, just initiate the WPS procedure on my router and this bridge, and it was setup in under 2 minutes. Reception with the dual antennas is excellent. One of the neat features of this bridge is the ability to adjust the transmission power (100%, 50%, 35%, 15%) if you are concerned about network intrusion. There's also an LED Off function if you desire to switch the LED inductors off, but they are very dim.

You can also power this bridge via the included USB power cable.

Cons: While the network is unnamed after setup, it is still visible to wireless devices, so there is a chance it could be hacked, but I imagine the difficulty would make most hackers try to find an easy, unencrypted network to use. I'm also not sure if this device can accept incoming wireless connections in the first place, so this may all be a non issue.

The thing which threw me for a loop is that your router will not detect the wired components as being attached devices, only the bridge. Not a big deal unless you are connecting printers or perhaps NAS devices. Printer driver setup programs will detect them, though it may take a longer time. The good news is that even if you switch those devices off and then back on, say if there is a power failure, as long as the bridge does not lose power, the IP addresses will not change. I recommend a low wattage UPS to protect it from blackouts anyway.

Other Thoughts: It feels a little cheap, and it is a little on the pricy side, but it does what it says and is a very nice alternative to a powerline adapter and switch.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems to work well

Pros: -Came bundled for free with an ASUS router
-Easy setup
-Came with a USB power adapter and a wall adapter.

Cons: -USB cable is only about 4 inches long, which happened to not be a problem because i have this hidden behind my PC

Other Thoughts: I cannot comment too strongly on performance because my old router was supplied by my ISP (optimum) and it was so bad that anything is an improvement. I have some connectivity issues like many report, but that is definitley on my ISPs end because when i disconnect this and run of the brand new ASUS router this was paired with i have the same issue.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Range

Pros: Setup was fairly straight forward if you force your wireless router to transmit on particular bands/security.

Cons: I got what I should have expected from a cheap wireless access point, horrible range. This item has worse Wifi sensitivity than my 3 year old cell phone. Speed through the connection ranged from 1 to 12 Mbps, thus limiting my internet speed while being about 60-80 feet from the wireless source. While downloading games on Steam, the device would lose connection and regain connection every minuter or so.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the slow internet speed you are experiencing with CV-7428nS.

We are not sure the model number of your WiFi router.

Can you please try a different channel frequency in your WiFi router? Usually we use channel 1, 6, or 11. You may get different performance and internet speed with our CV-7428nS.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my Previous Review

Pros: Easy to set up. Works as expected.

Cons: Maybe not the furthest range but Wi-Fi is a funny beast.

Other Thoughts: Previous I complained about the shipping speed. A comment that should have left on the shipper and not the product. I was in such a hurry to let my displeasure about the shipping vendor be known that I did not pay attention. to what I was doing. Not the manufactures fault.
