5 out of 5 eggsGood Switch

Pros: The switch has been in place and running for over a year now. It has performed flawlessly with multiple vlans (802.1Q) and changing the settings is easy with the web interface. I have not been using any of the multiport features as of yet but mainly purchased it to have the vlans.

Cons: None to this point.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried the switch connected to anything but the servers, printers and h323 equipment using vlans for segregation. It does auto-negotiate with a Netgear access point we are using. I have not used the 802.3ad (LCAP) features yet but have no real need for that in my installation at this point. I also am using the switch standalone (It is the only switch) so I do not have any of the interconnectivity/auto issues mentioned in previous posts.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: Great value for a managed 100Mbps switch with Gig uplinks. This thing was easy to setup via the web interface, no quirks, and reliable performance - very happy.

Cons: None really

2 out of 5 eggsToasty

Pros: Affordable

Cons: Runs very hot. As of today (07/26/2010) it is no longer in service. I was getting intermittent failures. I replaced the switch, and problems went away.

Other Thoughts: A fan in the switch would have helped. I intend to contact HP and see about warranty. I'm not pleased with its "performance" or its "reliability".

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: Fast, quiet, HP lifetime warranty. GUI isn't terribly hard to figure out.

Cons: Not 24 port Gigabit (...my fault, no HPs I assure you).

Other Thoughts: This thing is awesome. Silent, stable, moves good amounts of data without any question. For those looking for a good workgroup switch with some decent management features (VLAN, SNMP setups etc) this is a very good choice. I've got APs set up on my switch VLAN'd to a different internet connection and splash page than the rest of the network in the building this is installed. Super easy setup.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Price! Management. Vlans. 2-GB uplink ports. Lifetime warranty.

Cons: none yet...knock on wood

Other Thoughts: I Installed of these switches for a client and they have been flawless. FYI - They do not support STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) which could be a deal breaker in certain implementations.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very easy just plug it in and use new cables it worked great

Cons: 1. do NOT stack them no fan so they will overheat
2. these do not autonegotiate well with linksys or netgear (i always had a yellow collsion light)
3. when i swapped them all for hp procurves all of my problems went away

Other Thoughts: for an unamaged switch these offer good performance
with high reliability.
the only thing is you need to use all hp procuirves to auto negotitate correctly..
