Pros: Flashed DD-WRT and worked well as the gateway router with a Rosewill RNX-GX4 as a Repeater Bridge (the Asus replaced another RNX-GX4 which died young).
Cons: Died after about 10 months. Didn't show any connection or wireless problems leading up to the failure, but just refused to stay up more than 30 seconds before failing to respond to any commands, even after a 2 hour power down. It was located in a clean, cool place, so I don't think it was a heat problem. The power supply was a very solid UPS.

Rating: 5/5Good Router.
Pros: Great range, and performance. It is not a high-end by any means, but it works great for what I need it to do.
I am using it at my college dorm to provide Wi-Fi to myself and my dorm-mates, because the official college wireless is too weak to connect to...
The default software looked kinda weird, but I did not mess with it at all, I loaded the custom "DD-WRT" firmware on it, and it has been going strong ever since. I needed this to replace a dead "Dlink" router that was also loaded with DD-WRT.
I love the DD-WRT options and I love Asus products, so this was an easy choice.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Looks out of stock in Newegg right now, but still a good option if you can get one, but YOU may consider another router if you need features like dual band, Gigabit Ethernet or a USB port.

Rating: 5/5Awesome performance per dollar
Pros: Have had this router for about 6 months, flashed with DD-WRT out of the box. Have had absolutely no problems whatsoever, great wireless signal strength and haven't had to reboot once.
Cons: The only annoying aspect of this router, as mentioned before in previous comments is how annoyingly bright the lights are in this thing. I applied a thin strip of tape over the lights on the front of this thing to dim them to a tolerable level, still visible thru the masking tape, but not light-up-the-room flashlight bright.
Other Thoughts: Unless you have a NAS, or plan on doing massive data backups via the network, then get a gigabit router. If all you need is fast access to the net via wired and wireless, then this is more than enough.

Rating: 2/5Not reliable
Pros: Nice, cheap router when it works.
Cons: Requires frequent reboots.
Other Thoughts: I bought this router in December 2011, it's the . Flashed it with Tomato, and it worked well for about three weeks. Then it started dropping the signal and requiring weekly reboots. Tried a newer version of Tomato, but the problem persisted. Six weeks in, the router has to be reset at least once a day. I use it as a wireless ethernet bridge, and it has light use but just can't handle the traffic. Thank goodness the N12 isn't my main router--I use an RT-N16 for that, and it performs flawlessly. If I weren't past the 30-day RMA window (and could find the packaging), I'd return the N12. I'll probably try flashing DD-WRT to see if the performance improves, but I'm not too confident that will work either.

Rating: 2/5Ok router.
Pros: Decent router. Runs tomato.
Cons: This router regularly drops connection. I am not sure exactly why. It seems like it can't handle the load and just gives up. Even with internal file transfers, it just reaches a point where it stops working. On Win7 I can see that it's not a complete net drop ... but I get one of those yellow exclamation points in the wireless icon.
Other Thoughts: Definite buyer's remorse

Rating: 2/5Product is great until you need RMA
Pros: Its works great when it works. I bought it as ASUS products have always been a good quality and low problems.
Cons: It worked great for several months running DD-WRT and stock firmware. Then after several months it started to constantly drop wireless connections. Both stock firmware and DD-WRT do it and therefore is a hardware problem. Trying to get an RMA is a joke. Forms to fill-out on their website that go no where. It is supposed to get escalated after 48hrs if no response on your ticket but even that does not work. Therefore but the router and enjoy it while it works. It is breaks just buy another one or something else.

Rating: 4/5Great replacement for old WRT54GS
Pros: -DD-WRT Support -802.11N -Good factory firmware -Can be used as bridge, AP, or repeater -Compact design
Since I've delegated my old WRT54GS to my new office, I needed another router for home use after moving to an area that wasn't services by U-Verse. Now that I'm serviced by TW Cable, the hardware provided to me is a modem only and no longer a modem/router in one. After much consideration and talking to my sister in Taiwan, and using many Asus products already (MB, video card, lap top, etc) I decided to get the RT-N12. I really haven't had much issues with the factory firmware, if any at all. Just recently loaded DD-WRT on it and now its even better!
Cons: -Super bright blue LED status indicators (if you can even call it a con, I call it a night light)

Rating: 4/5Good for DD-WRT
Pros: Works great with DD-WRT(only). Easy to flash to DD-WRT. Performance and functionality is great with DD-WRT. Offers great flexibility and performance for the price.
Cons: Unacceptable torrent performance with stock firmware - the most this router would do was 100KB on a 1.7MB connection. You must upgrade to DD-WRT if you intend to use torrent. DD-WRT fixed this problem. This router should come configured with DD-WRT. Four stars for poor stock firmware performance.
