5 out of 5 eggsGreat Switch.

Pros: Needed to add a few extra non wireless devices to my router, this handled the job flawlessly. Easy to setup self managing, great on power saving.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Purchased on sale, thank you Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat switch

Pros: Since I only had one network drop in my office at work , I needed a network switch to handle my development machine, a test server, and an occasionally used guest machine. The old 100Mbps did the job, but throughput was sometimes an issue, especially if the test server was receiving anything more than occasional traffic.

This router just dropped in with no setup necessary, and made the throughput problems go away. When the production database server crashed and had to be rebuilt from scratch, I was able to switch to my test server in situ via this router with no apparent loss of performance, no appreciable downtime, and no impact on throughput.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Not really a "con": I prefer dark-colored network hardware; this unit is ivory.

4 out of 5 eggsLights wrong?

Pros: Network speeds are gigabit as expected; Very easy to set up.

Cons: The lights had me worried... two of the lights do not show green when they are connected (Gigabit ports, Cat6 cabling). Speeds are good though.

Other Thoughts: Another review mentioned the cables weighting the back and tilting the device and although it's true for me, I can't say it matters.
Minus one egg for the light issue

1 out of 5 eggsSame Problem with poster Whaszat

Pros: Price

Cons: Very Very poor quality control:
PC in sleep mode = green
Gigabit Lan = amber
100Mbps Lan = green
Someone may have crossed the wires? The speed led indicators are entirely the opposite of what the manual says and what most switches use for color coding network speeds. Although the throughput are correct as measured, it's plain irritating to be buying a product with seemingly stupid issues like this. Swapped it with a Netgear switch that correctly ID'd LAN categories.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Gigabit switch
Can handle high bandwidth such as streaming video/audio
Can view Live TV streamed from another media PC

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Read reviews from others saying their switch is too warm which did not occur with the switch.
Price is great for a gigabit switch.
Have another ASUS 8-port switch purchased few months ago in basement attached to gateway.
Bought 5-port ASUS switch to replace old megabit switch in office.
Now entire home network has gigabit capacity.
As always ASUS switches are great and reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Just Works

Pros: Plugged it in straight out of box, it worked at gigabit speeds. No config necessary, as a switch should be. Transparent on my network. Love the power saving ports, as well as the VIP Port. Have a Samsung SmartTV, Samsung Blu-ray and Dish Network DVR hooked up to it. All connect without problem or hesitation.

Cons: Not sure this is even a con, but no on off switch...must unplug power cable to turn off. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with this purchase!

Other Thoughts: Great price, with rebate, $10, for a Gigabit Switch to run my Entertainment center. One of the cheapest performance upgrades I made, and works rock solid. Haven't had to reset it once!

5 out of 5 eggsNice gigabit switch

Pros: This switch replaced a Netgear GS605 gigabit switch. The Netgear switch was giving me problems with my HDHomeRun Prime CableCARD TV tuner. With the Asus switch all the problems accessing the tuners went away. I get a stable 1000 Mbps connection to watch HD TV streamed over my home network. The final price $10 (after $10 rebate+free shipping) made this a very inexpensive performance upgrade.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Plug and play. Couldn't have been easier.

Cons: That great price was with the mail-in rebate. What a pain in the ss! I didn't notice the little PDF symbol near the price for the mail-in, so later I had to try to search all thru the rebates available, enter info, print it out, cut the UPC symbol out of the box, get a copy of the packing list, wait six weeks for an AmEx card. Stores like Menards give you a slip you simply mail in.

POOR!

1 out of 5 eggs
"GREEN MODE"! Causes incorrect link speed with other brand switches. VERY slow packet forwarding.

Does what it's supposed to!

Love the port specific power-down feature to save energy.
Connects at 1000Mbps to my devices.. no issues there.
