5 out of 5 eggssmall, good features

Pros: supports many modes: wireless AP, wireless router, endpoint (wireless to wired), etc. Small, solid, stable.

Cons: can be complicated to manage when using one of the non-router modes, such as wireless AP or wireless end-point because the IP address will change after initial configuration. Typically I find that I just hard reset it when I need to change modes, so that it always reverts back to known IP address in router mode.

Other Thoughts: range is acceptable, but not great. Probably only one small antenna.

5 out of 5 eggsAn excellent portable router

Pros: Out of the box, loving it. With six different ways to configure it, Im all the more impressed. The size is so soo small, and setup was a snap.

Cons: Its not much for cons at this point - I switched to AP mode, and it tells me I should download a ASUS utility, to rediscover its IP address. Makes sense.

Other Thoughts: My original intentions was to install OpenWRT on it, and playing around with that as well. Im almost tempted to leave it as it is, after using it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood WTR54GS Replacement

Pros: Tiny. Allows repeating a hidden, WPA encrypted wifi signal using the same SSID and encryption key. Works fine as a wireless router when connected to an ethernet cable. It looks to be a more capable replacement for my reliable if aging Linksys WTR54GS Travel Router.

Cons: It would be a nuisance to carry a separate P/S for this router. Configuration saving is a bit slow.

Other Thoughts: I got an inexpensive StarTech USB/USB-Micro male/male adapter. That tiny adapter allows for a short and rigid connection between the router and the vertically-oriented powered USB connector on the battery charger I carry for my phone. Thus, one less charger.

I just ordered another router to use as a home repeater. It will replace a DD-WRT flashed WRT54GL router.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW Works Great!

Pros: I didn't buy this at Newegg a verified owner but I do own one, I just didn't pay for it, it was a gift. This thing works great to share 3G. We go to a camp ground in northern MI and, believe it or not, I get three bars on my smart phone and a fairly decent 3G. I hooked this up to my Droid Incredible and easily configured it and all the campers that have a regular cell with no 3G but have a laptop were on the internet courtesy of me! Everybody loves me! They might not get the fastest connection but it's better than no connection at all!

Cons: I wish Newegg would make this a Shell Shocker or E-Blast special for about $20 less with free shipping cause I would like to have a second one as a backup!

Other Thoughts: I'm a MCSE and CCNA but you don't need to be anything more than a computer user to make this thing work! It's so easy even a network administrator can do it!

1 out of 5 eggsFlaky at best

Pros: Tiny, runs on USB power or via wall jack. Comes with its own carrying bag.

The router software looks pretty powerful - for a consumer level device.

Cons: This device is flaky. The Ethernet port doesn't connect well so I have to jimmy the cable to get it to light up, the wireless tends to drop off from time to time.

I'm going to exchange this and hope that I can write a good review about it later.

Default language was set to Chinese.

Other Thoughts: USB cable takes two slots.

Manufacturer Response:
