1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: All in one design
Newegg's RMA was spot on.

Cons: First unit was bricked right out of the box, couldn't connect. Received my second N10 and it also was defective couldn't be bothered to send that back and waste more $shipping$.

Other Thoughts: I tried everything from firmware upgrade to static IP. The Auto setup wizard could not detect connection and had to manually config to no avail. Manual config didn't have my country of origin or rather had misspelled it <golf claps> Cadana ...?!? This unit is junk and went back to using my ISP's modem and purchased a simple Asus router (RT-N53) which has also bricked after 6 months.I have lost a lot of faith in Asus products and customer <Pffft> support, now seriously reconsidering all their products

1 out of 5 eggsCouldn't set up

Pros: None as I could get it connected

Cons: I am no IT expert but I spent nearly 2 hrs and still didn't get it working. In the end I gave up and switched back to my old Motorola router. The software included doesn't run on macs so I had to borrow a PC to try to set it up but after several attempts had to admit defeat. The problem appears to be with the password but i'm not sure??

1 out of 5 eggsMajor problems

Pros: Wired connections work fine. Decent price, but the issues I've run into make it far from worth the "value."

Cons: Wifi started having problems within a month. For awhile it would work if I restarted the device, but now even that fails 99% of the time. I've tried three different computers with different ethernet cards, and two other devices. Firmware is updated. If you read reviews on this thing anywhere on the net you are bound to find similar reviews. I honestly don't know why this thing is still for sale when it seems like so many people have major issues with it.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK!

Pros: Easy set up

Cons: Stopped working after a month.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a failed Verizon modem and old Linksys router. In short, as others have mentioned, it worked for about thirty days and then failed. Up until yesterday I could get about 15 mins of internet time out of it before having to turn it on and off. now when I do that the power light doesn't even come on though , mysteriously, the DSL light does. It got REALLY hot when it did work.

Heed the bad reviews, I though I would be lucky and get a good one.

5 out of 5 eggsupdate on previous review

Pros: This is an update to a previous review in which I voiced my dissatisfaction with ASUS tech support.

After that review they replied on this forum and I was put in touch with a person who was customer relations oriented. Long story short, I received a replacement router in 12 days after sending the original one in. Back in business, rebate and all. Thank You to the folks at ASUS for all of your help.

This is a good router at an affordable price.

Cons: None now

1 out of 5 eggsFollow-up Review

Pros: It is small

Cons: Poorly designed and produced. Initial tech support is a joke for a company I expected so much more from.

Other Thoughts: Jeramy from Asus followed up on my first review and authorized an RMA, they did send a whole new unit that is in a sealed box. I have long since obtained another brand that is working just fine so I have need (or desire) to put this unit on line - it will live on the shelf as a reminder.

3 out of 5 eggsGot a lemon

Pros: Two devices in one box reduces clutter; removable antenna

Cons: 10/100 wired networking; no DD-WRT support; runs hot (especially in the left rear corner)

Other Thoughts: This unit took 1.5 - 2.5 minutes to load each administrative web page over a wired connection. I can't imagine anyone would give this 5 eggs if it behaved like this for them so I guessing I just got a bad one. Updated FW from stock 1.0.2.1 to the latest 1.0.3.7: no improvement. The "Quickly Internet Setup" [sic] wizard wasn't able to figure out AT&T PPPoE DSL automatically, but once configured manually it was able to connect and access the Internet. Page loads seemed marginally slower but I didn't measure actual speeds. I never got to trying out the wireless so I can't comment on that. I expect a replacement unit wouldn't have these problems but I'm sending it back for a refund because I don't want to risk my time and postage on another possible defective unit. I'll give it three eggs: halfway between the bad one I got and a likely-good replacement. If you get one of these, be sure to test it thoroughly before the exchange/refund period expires.

1 out of 5 eggsTread Softly

Pros: Small, Easy Setup

Cons: Runs warm, loses connectivity for no apparent reason, got response from ASUS to first inquiry but was not helpful, follow up inquiry seem ignored

Other Thoughts: Went to another local store and bought another brand

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsIt all started well, but

Pros: Fast shipping, easy to configure

Cons: dropped connection, both wireless and wired (CenturyLink) about every 36 hrs. I contacted ASUS as I had already voided warranty with Newegg by cutting the UPC code from the box to get the rebate.

ASUS answered right away via email and then I never heard form them again after the first exchange. I made attempts but to no avail.

Went to Staples and bought a Netgear.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the issues you had with your router and with contacting Asus support. If there is anything I can do please let me know. Please contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com (ref#1043-3334) so that I may remedy your situation.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it!

Pros: It is a small unit.

Cons: Poor instruction sheet, unit failed after less than 8 hours of operation, tech support first level could not resolve issues and transferred me to next level that never answered.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 Asus laptops and 3 Asus mobos, and have never had a problem with any of them. I thought I was going to have another good piece of equipment. Not So! I will be sending this one back in the morning to either Newegg or Asus, I am too frustrated to mess with it again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Photec,

I am sorry your N10 did not function properly and you have to send it back. If you are sending it back to Asus for repair then please allow me to keep you informed during the process. I can check on you RMA status and let you know what is going on during the repair. Please contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com with the reference #1043-3131.

Regards,
Jeremy
