4 out of 5 eggsIf you replace its firmware with DD-WRT, it works great.

Pros: Great hardware.

Cons: The Asus firmware is terrible. I had to reboot the router everyday otherwise, the wi-fi won't work. Given that I was about to throw it away, I took the "risk" to load the open-source DD-WRT to it. Since then it has worked flawlessly for more than a year - without having to reboot at all. Asus should just load the DD-WRT firmware at factory.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed with ASUS

Pros: Works good when it works.
Small profile.
Stands upright.

Cons: Needs to be rebooted every day.
No new firmware to fix this problem that ASUS is aware of.
No external antenna(s) option.

Other Thoughts: I have always been a fan of ASUS products. I own several. But this router has been a big disappointment. Have the latest firmware (2.0.2.5.O) but still needs to be reset every day. Since the new AC routers have come out, I've been seriously considering the N*E*T*G*E*A*R instead of the ASUS because of the bad reviews. ASUS really needs to read these reviews and react to customer complaints. If new firmware needs to be developed, then do it. Don't lose your loyal customers to a different manufacturer.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS RT-N13U/B

Pros: None.

Cons: Everything. Worst router that I had ever known. Won't connect to internet..UI disappeared. Listen to the crowd. After returned 2 times and tried 3 different routers just to confirm that this is garbage They kept sending you bad router until you give up..I just have to keep my old router.

Other Thoughts: Asus is really disapointing me for reselling this garbage.

1 out of 5 eggsThe stories are true.

Pros: Its a cheap router from a reliable (so I thought) brand.

Cons: Unit failure within 24 hours. Wont connect via hardline, wifi is constantly resetting. It appears individuals have hada very hard time with the refurbished models of this unit.

Other Thoughts: I thought I was getting a good deal, and I couldn't believe the 1 star reviews because "It's NewEgg, their QA is awesome and their customer support is great." I should have believed the reviews. I am filing an RMA today. At least I can still fully trust the customer service side of NewEgg.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

Pros: I bought this with the intention of putting my AT&T U-verse router/modem combo into bridged mode and using this as my primary router (since the Motorola NVG510 they provided me with is sketchy), with a 3rd router (Linksys WRT54G) as a wireless bridge for some wired machines on the 2nd fl of my house. These 3 things led me to choose this router: wireless N, USB support for cell carriers, and DD-WRT support.

Cons: Doesn't work. Tried 2 devices, laptop and desktop. Whether I have my machines set w/ static IP or DHCP, neither way recognizes the router at it's address: 192.168.1.1. Reset router several times. Thought maybe it needed a reset to factory defaults, that didn't work either. I've heard good things about this model, but the refurb'd units seem to be having issues. I'll get it RMA'd I guess, but I don't have the warm fuzzies about getting another refurb.

Other Thoughts: Even if I the replacement works, I may use this model as an AP instead of my primary, to get wireless N if I need it, and forget about the option of having a USB connection as a backup for my ISP. We'll see...

1 out of 5 eggsRefurb=not tested + repackaged!!!!

Pros: Specs are good, would be a decent router if it worked.

Cons: Refurb'ed router from Newegg was just packaged in a whitebox. It was not tested or re-initialized to default FW. It took a while to recover the firmware and finally have access. After one day running as repeater, it started to power off immediately every 2-3 mins. Asus support was OK to assign an RMA. I paid for the shipment, no big deal. 10 days later, got another white box refurb. Same deal, not tested or restored to factory default settings, locked with a password. Issue is even after 'restore' password remains and can not gain access to the device to further configure. SSID that came with the device is -=*=- .

Other Thoughts: I bought the refurb'ed device even though I saw the comments about ASUS support and how unsatisfactory their quality control is. After twenty six bucks which include RMA shipping, I ended up with 2 power supplies, 2 short cat5 cables and a wireless router I can not reset the password after 15-20 restores.

1 out of 5 eggsI hate to say this, but AVOID

Pros: Fantastic router/repeater when it works. I seriously don't think there is a better router on the market for the money, but buy it new, don't mess with these refurbs.

Cons: I'm not sure they're really even testing these. I've bought two of them and they were utter junk. First one barely worked at all, I could barely get it to display the setup page after numerous resets. Wouldn't work at all in router or repeater mode.

Second one worked like a charm for about three days. Then it started acting weird, instead of repeating the same SSID, it made a new network, but still worked if you connected to the new network. Then, a few days later, it stopped working altogether.

I reset it, set it to repeat my router, and over the course of a week or so it did the exact same thing. Worked great for a few days, then made a new network but still worked for a few days, then didn't work at all. I tried updating the firmware, to no avail, it did the same thing. Now we're on week five, a few days after the return period, and it's quit working altogether. I've tried doing a 30-30-30 reset numerous times, but I can't get it to work for more than a few seconds in any mode. It's essentially bricked.

Other Thoughts: I think the N13U is a great router. I know I've bought 6 or so of them for different jobs, because it's a great repeater. I made a mistake going for this refurb model, and I'm very disappointed in Newegg for selling this junk.
