Put fast and compatible dual band internet performance in the palm of your hand with the powerful USB-N53 wireless adapter. Better than most built-in notebook Wi-Fi, other external adapters, and rivaling the speed of many dedicated PCI Express cards, this wireless adapter features an intuitive, easy-to-use interface to get the best signal strength and customize settings. Setup is also made easy with plug-and-play, CD-free installation. Other adapters make you choose from either 2.4GHz or 5GHz, so if you want fast speed of the 5GHz stream you have to sacrifice the compatibility that the 2.4GHz offers. But the USB-N53 dual-band capability allows for concurrent, simultaneously 2.4GHz and 5GHz streams to give you the best of both worlds.

Beautiful, light, and equipped with ASUS' exclusive networking features, the USB-N53 eliminates the need for a PCIe network card or on-board Wi-Fi only requiring a single free USB port. With the included mini USB extension cord, adjust the antenna to receive the strongest signal. This wireless adapter lets you wireless connect other devices to it as an Internet access point with the Software AP. The graphical user interface, EZ UI, centralizes all wireless information into one place with useful real-time information on signal strength and data throughput. The WPS Push Button simplifies secure connections with a single push of a button that detects even hidden routers and internet access points and prompts for passcode access. Additionally, the WPS push button effortlessly syncs to another device with the USB-N53 if both buttons are pressed together.

  • newegg Flexible Dual-Band Connection The ASUS USB-N53 is a wireless-N dual-band adapter allowing you to connect to 2.4GHz for basic Internet applications or 5GHz for lag-free streaming and high performance networking (with speeds up to 300Mbps) through dual-band wireless router.
  • newegg Software AP USB-N53 is not only a USB wireless adapter, but also a small AP. Its Software AP function can easily turn your computer into a wireless access point.
  • newegg USB Extension cable Included Included USB extension cable lets you easily adjust the antenna for the best signal strength.
  • newegg WPS button No need to remember Wi-Fi setting parameter (SSID, Encryption key...) - just press the WPS button to complete the secure connection setting.
  • newegg Intuitive graphical user interface The easy-to-use centralized EZ UI graphical user interface provides useful connection information in real time.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap & Easy

Pros: The device was cheap in price and very easy to install the drivers that were needed for it to work. Took less then 5 minutes to get it working and tested.
Signal strength is very good. Will probably purchase a few more of these for commercial use.

Cons: Only bad thing about this device is that its kind of big and sticks out a bit... But not a deal breaker. The pros far out weigh the cons.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Really nice. Does it's job verrry nicely. My old D Link wireless card got very low to low signal where I have my computer arranged, I now get flawless signal reading very good. I am pleased

Cons: Couldn't have been cheaper.

Other Thoughts: I have personally tried first hand the 50$ wireless USB card one, paired with the highest end router Asus has to offer... You would not believe the signal. Like taking your entire homes Ethernet cable and plugging it straight in the computer...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a very fast and amazing little adapter. Used to game on it all the time with my desktop. But i have upgraded to the ASUS PCE-AC68 Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Adapter. I still use this adapter with my laptop.

Cons: None that I can think of.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: Works as intended and lived up to my expectations.

Cons: Setup didn't quite go without a hitch, but I got it to work with a little extra effort.

Other Thoughts: I got this for a PC I didn't want to run a line too. Works great connected to my Netgear Nighthawk.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for me!

Pros: I ordered this when I had verizon send me a new ADSL2+ router, as my old adapter topped out at 54Mbps. Combined with the new router i get a solid 144Mbps @ 2.4Ghz.

-My router is on my 2nd floor and my pc is almost right below it and my connection is solid "excellent"

- This thing is very sleek looking; shiny and the blue light is shaped like an "X" shining thru the checkerboard design

-Fits snugly into the USB; not wobbly

Cons: A bit weary of the $30 price tag (after rebate), seemings its a piece of plastic, but very glad I bought it

Other Thoughts: I love living near newegg's warehouse. Ordered this at noon on tuesday, got it noon wednesday....USING THE FREE 4-7 DAY!!! It was like free next day shipping! However it was sent by ups, FedEX is a different story :-/

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast and easy to set up. Plug it in install the drivers and go. Via N I get better than fast ethernet speeds on the lan and fully saturate my download bandwidth

Cons: It would be nice if it came with a extension with a stand instead of the short rigid wire mount. I feel it puts too much stress on the usb port.

4 out of 5 eggsProblem w/ included utility sw on Win7

Pros: Excellent connection speeds (300 mb) from a desktop in the basement to an ASUS RT-66U router one floor above. Other PCIe internal NICs got slow speeds or complete failure to connect, even using a large external rubber duckie antenna. Distance to upstairs router is about 12 feet with a hardwood floor and no metallic insulation between units.

Cons: The newly downloaded utility software from Austek's website, just like the version on the setup CD works poorly with 32 bit Win 7 SP1 with all current (02/01/14) updates. While the graphic d/l speed displays of antenna 1&2 are nice to view, every time the computer is rebooted, I had to MANUALLY find my network and enter the password to get to the internet - EVERY time. I finally uninstalled the utility and left just the drivers. Now the desktop logs on within 10 seconds of the Win 7 welcome screen appearing, every time (an important feature on the wife's desktop when I'm not available to do the manual login/password entry). She doesn't need to view antenna speeds anyway.

I repeated loading the ASUS utility and got the same failure to login to the router automatically, so I uninstalled the utility software again, leaving just the drivers, and presto! it works fine. I have no wireless telephones or baby monitors, and there are no other homes with WiFi anywhere within range to cause interference - this is strictly a software caused problem.

Other Thoughts: If you're having intermittent login or connection troubles, just load the drivers only (an option when loading the utility software by the way) and the hardware works just fine - at least on my newly installed 32 bit Win 7 SP1. I can't speak to Win 8 or 8.1. I also tried this with the exact same 32 bit Win 7 SP1 on a Dell Latitude D630 and a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with similar "failure to find network and logon" results.

5 out of 5 eggsAs good as it gets

Pros: Achieved maximum bandwidth on both 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ frequencies from downstairs room while my ASUS N56U wireless router was upstairs.

Basically, this adapter gave me the same speeds downstairs that I get when plugged directly into the wireless router upstairs. Incredible.

Cons: Need to download driver from ASUS website and use device manager to install.

Go here: http://www.asus.com/Networks/Wireless_Adapters/USBN53/#download

I used the Windows 7 64bit, Version 1.0.12.2 even tho I'm using Windows 8.1. Works perfectly.

Don't use the disc or w/e Windows tries to install automatically. Once this is done it works perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Allowed me to access every last megabit i pay for. Amazing product.

2 out of 5 eggsDead in under a year

Pros: Had no trouble with setup. Never had a signal strength issue. Was on a desktop one lever below the wireless router without issue.

Cons: Very large.
Died on 1/18/14. Purchased on 4/14/13. So it only lasted about 9 months. That's pretty shoddy in my book.

Other Thoughts: For the sake that it died I should give it 1 star, but there were pros while it did work.
