Wired to Wireless without Compromise

The ASUS EA-N66 enables an Ethernet-ready device to wirelessly connect to a router with up to an incredible 450 Mbps of data throughput-one of the highest speeds for a Wi-Fi signal. With its patented 3-point orthogonal design, get a more robust and larger wireless signal range.

The Future is Wireless

Do away with unsightly wired Ethernet cables that could limit where you place your device and go wireless with the freedom to place your smart TV, desktop PC, or other Ethernet-enabled device where you want with the high performance and stability you desire.

Specialized Antenna Design

The patented 3-point orthogonal design is unique and modern in appearance but also delivers a substantial increase in wireless connectivity enabling faster data throughput and an expanded signal range. While most routers have a flat linear line for optimal signal, the EA-N66 antenna shape delivers more of an arc-shaped area of signal coverage giving you an increased optimal range of connectivity for devices throughout your network.

Ultra-High-Speed Dual-Band Performance

Get data throughput up to an incredible 450 Mbps with the EA-N66 - one of the highest wireless speeds available today. What's more, it's IPv6 ready meaning you're ready for future-proofed Web surfing as soon as the networking standard is changed.

3 Selectable Modes

The EA-N66 is exceptionally versatile with 3 different modes you can select from. Ethernet Adapter mode connects your Ethernet-enabled device to a wireless network. Access Point mode establishes a new wireless network. Repeater mode extends an existing wireless network.

Expand Your Coverage

Far surpassing the range of conventional wireless adapters, the EA-N66 gives you a wireless signal range up to 10,000 sq ft1. Especially useful to enhance signal range of existing routers when placed in repeater mode, the EA-N66 increases your signal reach throughout multi-level houses or surrounding areas outside.

User-Friendly Interface

Set up the EA-N66, switch between modes, and customize settings effortlessly through the user-friendly interface. The network map allows you to visually see all the connected devices on your network and customize access as well as set bandwidth priority. Accessible also through EZ UI is the EZ QoS (Quality of Service) that lets you optimize your network for your most commonly performed tasks like online gaming, video streaming, and more.

Warranty

1 out of 5 eggsDrops the network connection

Pros: For 4 months this adapter was fast, +20MB/sec file transfer rate. Beat any other adapter I have used. I used this only in ethernet adapter mode.

Cons: After 4 months it consistently started dropping the network connection while streaming video. Tried the latest firmware "p" version, no difference. After a while I got fed up unplugging and plugging it back in. So went back using a slower USB wifi adapter.

Other Thoughts: Too bad I brought a refurbished adapter with only a 90 day warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the adapter. Please allow me to assist you.

Please try the steps below to try to troubleshoot the issue.

1. Try different port on the computer or power cycle the computer
2. Uninstall and reinstall the driver with its support disk then power cycle the computer; (or do no.3 first)
3. or, download and install the latest network adapter driver then power cycle the computer (or do no.2 first)
4. Check its compatibility with the router and/or distance from it
5. Check the main router's firmware if updated
6. Compare other wireless devices if they are having same issue/s
7. Check its compatibility with the computer's Operating System, AntiVirus and Firewall
8. Use different computer for comparison and follow again the steps above.
9. and, if it replicates the issue, get RMA approval.

2 out of 5 eggsWireless Drops Out

Pros: I own two. When they worked, they worked well. Looks great.

Cons: Both units dropped wireless randomly. One EA-N66 has been unplugged for weeks: my laptops would connect with it, but would not work. I was better off without it; at least the weak signal from the distant other access point worked. I would not recommend this product.

Other Thoughts: Three years ago I bought a ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router along with 2 ASUS EA-N66 Dual-Band Wireless-N900 access points. This was an upgrade, speed wise over the Linksys components they replaced. These Asus components will be in service for one more week. Their replacements have already been ordered from Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsIt needs to be reboited a every few days.

Pros: I have 3 of these. They are cheap and fast when they work.

Cons: The need to be power cycled every 3 or so days.

Other Thoughts: I use these in AP mode. I have been impressed by Asus' other WiFi products. These just seem to be lemons.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Aric,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the unit. Please allow me to assist you.

Can we have a detailed information about the units issue, you mentioned that you need to powercyle the unit every 3 or so days are you experiecing slow, no, intermittent or dropping connection? you mentioned that you are using the unit as an access point how is your wired connection from the ISP? have you tried also connection a computer via wired connection just to check if the connection has no problem.

3 out of 5 eggsThis product isn't great

Pros: Mine functioned in ways that it should have, but not to the capacity that it should have.
I have checked all the settings and it is absolutely the adapter.
My connection is pretty darn good, sitting at 130mbps through a test I just conducted.
My brother gave me his Asus USB-AC53 and this thing is leaps and bounds better, providing me with exactly what I would expect from my ISP, maybe even better honestly.

Cons: The software was horrible when I purchased it, but was later updated... though you need an internet connection to update the firmware so hopefully you have another computer just in case.
It has now been around two years since I've purchased this adapter and it now absolutely refuses to provide me with any mbps speed above 94.5.

Other Thoughts: I probably wouldn't buy this unless the only function you have for it is to extend wifi signal which it is alright at.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Zach,

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the ASUS wireless Bridge/ Range Extender. Please allow me to assist you.

Are you using the unit as an access point or repeater? if repeater, are you experiencing the speed issue with 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency? please make sure that the router and the extender's firmware is updated . Updating the unit's firmware may help resolve the unit's connection issue.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesnt hold a network longer than 2-3 days

Pros: Its cheap, and thats a bad thing, as in a cheap piece of junk.

Cons: - Doesn't work for longer than 2-3 days, has to be power cycled before the wifi network starts back up.
- The Wifi network drops off and does not show up in the list of SSIDs.
- Useless.

Other Thoughts: I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to get this thing working and it just will not work.

I use this for AP mode, so I have it hardwired into my network to create a new network for my downstairs basement where signal is low. It does create the network and I have great signal, however it only lasts for a few days and the network crashes and it has to be power cycled to come back up.

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Upgrade firmware manually to latest version.
2. Power cycled my router, modem, and this device.
3. Upgraded my Asus Router (NT68U) to latest Firmware.

Do not spend a penny on this, it isnt worth the money. Get something from Ubiquity who is more reliable with APs

2 out of 5 eggsNot a fan. Works, but not well

Pros: It works most of the time.

Cons: Has issues with reliability. Several times a year I have to reboot it to "fix" wireless issues. It also has strange issues with intermittent connectivity that seemingly vanish as quick as they came.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this AP for close to 2 years. It died and frankly I'm glad. Looking forward to replacing it as it's performed poorly most of the time I've owned it.

FYI, I'm a network engineer by trade. Thought I'd go cheap and get a residential AP and wish I never had.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Steve,

I want to thank you for posting this review and I understand that you have an issue with the wireless adapter. On behalf of ASUS we apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused you but let me go ahead and further assist you. 5 out of 5 eggsExtends Ethernet Wired Connection through Wifi

Pros: Provides the RJ45 Connection I had to use in order to connect my Vonage modem wirelessly.

Cons: None, as far as I'm concerned for what I'm using it for.

Other Thoughts: I had to watch parts of the product video a few times to be certain it did what I was looking for it to do. I feel this functionality could be made much stronger in the general info about the product and this function is not easy to find generally in products.

Mainly, the ability to extend a needed/required wired connection, wirelessly.

I also think they should mention Vonage along with XBox as the Vonage modem has no wireless ability, yet the device gives it wireless ability.

For my need, when I travel or go on vacation and rent a beach house for a week or so, all homes have wireless internet but the modem/router is rarely located anywhere near an area suitable for an office setup - which is fine since the computers I take are wireless. But it's my Vonage modem and desktop phone that I want to have with me and use since that completes my normal office structure. This device allows me to use my Vonage modem and phone without having to worry about do I need a 20ft or a 200ft or 500ft network cable with me in order to do so.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy with this AP

Pros: Looks good, powerful signal - when working

Cons: Had the same experience as Jordan P.

Was using this device for about a month when the kids started complaining that their wifi connections to their phones was not working. I also noticed that brand new win7 laptop not even 3 feet away said it had a connection but in reality it didn't - couldn't load web pages.

Downloaded WifiAnalyzer on my droid phone and watched the signal just disappear for seconds at a time, then reappear for about 30 seconds then disappear again.

And just like Jordan P's review "it seems to trick my Network and Sharing Center in the Windows Control Panel into showing that I DO have a connection, but I don't".

This thing is junk, just hope I can return it for something else.
