1 out of 5 eggsWorked for 6 months and now it's dead

Pros: I got it on sale? It was fairly fast when it worked.

Cons: I've owned this card for a little less than 6 months and today for whatever reason it will no longer connect to my 802.11N network. It will connect to 802.11G just fine but it tries to connect to 802.11N and will just hang and never gets an IP. No other computers on the network are having problems connecting. The driver is still the original driver as provided by ASUS on their website, letting Windows 7 manage the wireless card. I'm a system admin by trade and build and manage much more complex wireless networks than this for a living so I'm more than aware that it is something with the card and not the machine it is installed in.

Other Thoughts: I was initially happy with this card, it paired well with my new RT-N66U and speeds were good over N and G. Now it will not connect to my N network no matter what driver I've tried.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry your PCE-N53 isn't connecting to your N network. Have you tried updating your drivers? Depending on which drivers you have, you may be able to change the network in the device manager. If you would like, I can get you set up with an RMA to replace your card if that is more preferred, just let me know at cl-jeremy@asus.com.

Regards,
Jeremy

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Adapter

Pros: very stable using detected windows drivers, great price, and decent speeds.

Cons: the only con i can say would probably be the stock antenna are weak.

after switching to better antenna the range is great

Other Thoughts: if you have a large house you may want to replace your antenna for better ones.

remember the range on 5GHz is shorter than 2.4GHz

~ good product.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: It can connect?

Cons: Every USB adapter I've tried works flawlessly with my router, all my laptops, my other PC which is using some no-name brand junk PCI-E adapter. This one I bought because I wanted a quality Asus product for my wireless rather than an on-board. Big mistake, it gets 5-10mbit/s max and that's on a good day.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy.

5 out of 5 eggsIF YOU WANT TO BUY OR ARE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS READ ME!!!

Pros: This is a verrrrrrry good card but at first it wasn't working like advertised. On the cd that comes with the card there is an option to install the driver and utility. DO NOT INSTALL THE UTILITY DON'T!!!! When i noticed it was running to slow i contacted Asus and they person i talked to said that whenever he gets a call regarding this card it usually relates to the utility that slows it down. So i did and now it works fine. Lastly if your router doesn't have a 5GHz signal, that wont be able to be used with this card for people who don't know much about internet hardware and signals .

Cons: None besides getting confused when i saw it wasn't running fast as advertised, but this solves that for you. And other problems if you do this and still doesn't work that's when you need to contact Asus yourself.

5 out of 5 eggsStable for me

Pros: Stable for me
Has a very useful utility software

Cons: Range could be better
If my router was on the other side of my house, I would get a weak signal
but a weak signal to me is still 18.00Mbps

3 out of 5 eggsNice little card with Windows 7 but Windows 8 is an issue

Pros: 1. Nice small format.
2. Dual Antennas
3. Name Brand Asus

Cons: 1. NO Windows 8 drivers from Asus
2. Support is not as good as it has been in the past and I have been an ASUS customer since the 1990's

Other Thoughts: How can Asus put out a product and not even Support it with Windows 8 drivers.

Can this card be setup in Windows 8 properly using drivers directly from RALINK or the Rosewill card that uses the same chipset?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

There are Windows 8 drivers available from ASUS from our Support site - support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=11&m=PCE-N53
If those don't work for you, you can use Windows 8 to search for drivers or browse the list of available drivers to install it manually.

Please contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

2 out of 5 eggsDual Nothing

Pros: It fit into case well....!

Cons: I have many electronics from Asus, but with this product they dropped the ball. First you have to go to some other companies website to get the drivers if you want the card to even work. Then the signal is weak, and also so slow that it made more sense to go get a 50 ft Ethernet cable to run my computer off of cause I could not handle the slow speeds of the internet.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Heyron74,

I am sorry you have had problems with your PCE-N53 wireless adapter. The drivers available from our ASUS Support site should work, please let me know which ones you were using if they didn't. It may also be a reason why your performance isn't as good as it should be. Please contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com so that I may try to help you in any way that I can.
