2 out of 5 eggsWorked good for a little while

Pros: The device was very fast when it did work. Was able to connect anywhere in my house and even the garage with this device. Usually could get around 100-120mb in 2.4ghz from about 50 feet.

Cons: Had the device about 2 months and about 1 week ago the device started to transmit data more slowly. The last couple days the wireless adapter seems to quit all together and not registering as disabled so it wont come back without disable then enable, restart, or repair connection. It usually stays up for about 10 minutes at a time. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling, but nothing seems to work. Thankfully i had my old pceie wireless card available to reinstall and that one has been working like a charm for the past 4 years so back to using a slower card with my netgear nighthawk while i go look for a better solution. Thankfully i have a warranty on this device and can switch this out for something that wont die before 2 months.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS USB-AC53

Pros: - The extension cable/dock is a nice inclusion for a USB stick.
- It worked well for about a week.

Cons: The adapter constantly drops my network connections. If I stay connected for more than 30 minutes without interruption I consider it a small miracle.

Other Thoughts: I picked this up to cover an RMA for an ASUS PCE-AC68 which recently arrived DOA. While I've had good experiences with ASUS products in the past, I'm extremely disappointed with their networking devices. I'll be looking to other brands in the future.

UPDATE: The replacement PCE-AC68 doesn't work either. Tested on 3 different boards.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great - while it lasted

Pros: Was fast and setup was easy

Cons: First connections start to drop, then completely dead in less than a year.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this with the ASUS RT-AC66U router. Worked great then purchased a second one for a different computer. The second one is still operational, but now I wonder for how long. It worked great, then began dropping connection, as many on here have had the same issue. Then just completely stopped working. Have tried in 2 additional desktops and 1 laptop. Will not even power up. Have all of the latest drivers/software installed. Too bad, I'll have to look at something else now.

5 out of 5 eggsEASY

Pros: Very easy to setup. Nice & software to work with.

Cons: Be nice if Ausoffer longer usb cable. the extension cable that comes with is useless.

Other Thoughts: Like I said before, need longer usb cables. the short extension cable that comes with is garbage. They should know better.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Faster then my internal wifi card, plus with the usb extension cord I get a better signal from inside my cubical.

Cons: There is none. Other than it didn't come with a free life sized statue of liberty.

Other Thoughts: This is a great little product and people need to stop reviewing at 1 egg because it doesn't work with your free garbage Linux OS. BTW I can confirm it works fine with win 8.1.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bought in conjunction with AsusRT - AC66U.

Works great as a wireless adapter.

Occasionally i have to unplug and re-plug on computer startup (Windows 7). I get solid 144mbps when connected to the 2.4GHZ network (N) and around 180-280mbps when connected to my 5ghz network (AC).

FYI -
AC network protocols only run off the 5ghz networks, so if you want the full speed AC bandwidth, make sure you are as close to the router as possible, as 5ghz networks tend to broadcast at a shorter range compared to 2.4ghz . That's just physics for you.

Cons: HUGE ADVERTISING CON

USB 2.0 only achieves maximum speeds of 480Mbps. So saying that this USB 2.0 Dongle can achieve speeds in excess of 480Mbps is frankly false advertising.

Don't know why this is a USB 2.0 device and not a 3.0 device.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not Buy

Pros: When it's working its great.

Cons: never works. - DO NOT BUY if you have windows 8 or, 8.1, drops every 30 minutes, tried multiple driver downloads, multiple troubleshooting options. Friend bought one with windows 8.1, experiencing same issues

Other Thoughts: Asus needs to address this problem
