5 out of 5 eggsVery happy with the product

Pros: Good features with multiple SSID support. Low price. Pretty good signal. Very stable. Easy setup.

Cons: Something I wish it had is 1000M LAN instead of the 100M LAN that this has. The spec does state this has 100M LAN, so it's not really a con.

Other Thoughts: This is almost perfect for my need. I use MAC filtering for main SSID access control, and the password for the guest SSID.And it has support for all these which I think most of the wireless routers do have. I also like to assign a static IP to my local LAN resources and it allows me to set specific IP to a MAC address from the router configuration instead of configuring each device to a specific IP. These are really the main settings that I set and this wireless router has worked very well for that. If this router had gigabit LAN speed, it would have made this perfect. I guess I will have to upgrade to more expensive model when I have to have that 1000M LAN speed.

I described the settings that I am using, so I don't know how well it works in some other more complex settings. But since switching to this wireless router (it's been over 5 months now), I didn't need to perform any sort of reset on this router and it's been working great for me.

1 out of 5 eggsVery bad product and extremely poor performance

Pros: Design.

Cons: Wifi speed very slow. Connected speed is extremely slow. Loses connection every 5 min or so.

Other Thoughts: Please do not buy, even if it is at a discounted price. Not at all worth the money. Very bad product

1 out of 5 eggsWireless speed is abysmal

Pros: Setup was quick and easy. I was happen with the modem for the first month or so and the wireless speeds were not originally so bad (up to 35 down on a 50 Mbps plan)

Cons: The wireless speed on my router is very slow and the range is terrible. I get 5-10 Mbps download when near it (same room) and that speed drops dramatically (1-3 Mbps) when I leave the room the router is in. I thought for a while it was my ISP or modem, but after trying 4 different modems from the ISP, and having 2 technicians come out to help diagnose, and after seeing that the router gets a consistent 50-55 Mbps download speed when wired, it seems like the router is the problem. I've tried moving the router to different rooms, changing the settings from stock to dozens of others combinations with no avail.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Josh,

Could you please tell me which channel do you currently set your router on? Could you please provide me the firmware version of your router? For further assistance, please contact me at cl-celeste@asus.com and include case#3436131 in the subject line. 5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive replacement

Pros: I bought this as a replacement to a $150 Cisco router I had that kept losing connection. I initially got it to be a quick temporary replacement while I researched some better ones and waited for a sale. This has turned out to be the best router I've owned in quite some time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended buy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Getting 25-30 Mb download speeds from Comcast.
No resets in the two months since I bought it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a router that won't need to be rebooted much (or at all) then this one will do nicely.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS

Pros: Low cost

Cons: Asus rebate center lost my UPC and refused to issue rebate. Poor customer from Asus rebate center. I will never buy Asus again.

Other Thoughts: Out dated router. Pay 10-20 bucks more get a better router with dual antenna and faster speed.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsD.O.A.

Pros: ASUS routers have typically had nice lines, but the wedge/chiseled look of these black RT-N series routers go beyond that. The feature sets are extensive, and yet the web-based GUI typically has a slow refresh time. I'm obviously unable to comment on performance at this point.

Cons: I received this beauty (a Christmas gift) D.O.A..

Other Thoughts: Of all the ASUS products I've ever purchased and used (MANY - Laptops, LCD monitors, Routers, Wireless Adapters, Mobos), this is actually the first DUD I've ever received - KUDOS to ASUS' engineering and QA peeps!

Time to see how ASUS' Customer Support peeps support a loyal, long time customer. I'm looking forward to updating this review afterward, hopefully adding eggs for the replacement router's performance and KUDOS for ASUS' Customer Support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value router.

Pros: Price (bought it at 10 bucks on cyber monday), size (this thing is little), solid modern design (this router doesn't look like it's cheap plastic box), setup (it was ready to go in seconds), modern and easy to use web interface (I was pleased how easy is to see what users are connected). So far had no issues using wireless in my apartment. Gaming, web browsing, and utorrent all running smoothly. Guest wireless.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: It's a low end value, cost me two pints of ice cream. Don't expect to run your company's network on this.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Router

Pros: None !! Will not stay connected on any of my computers, WIFI or LAN.

Cons: Too Many to list.

Other Thoughts: Contacted ASUS support. Tried everything... Firmware, hard rest, WPS reset, disconnect - reconnect. Nothing works. My old router works fine on my DSL . ASUS please just send me a new router !!
