5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable value

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: $10 easy setup. No Brainer for kid to create her own personal wifi network at college from an ethernet connection. It's amazingly fast and easy setup.

Cons: No USB port. But for $10 no big deal.

3 out of 5 eggsWireless N is slow

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: Low price, (after rebate)

Cons: Rebate. Wireless N speed is very slow, varies from 8 to 15 Mb/sec with WinXP. I don't know if this is because of the router or the network adapter. I was surprised because both are Asus.

Other Thoughts: 802.11G speeds are good, about 20Mb/sec. I had to configure the router for WiFi legacy mode to get the good speed with WinXP, which precludes use of 802.11N. I have decided to keep this router because it work a lot better the the TP-Link router that I first ordered. I wish my old Buffalo router still worked. 802.11G speed was good with Linux, even without the legacy setting. I could not try 802.11N with Linux because the Asus adapter does not have a driver for kernel 3.x

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: None

Cons: I have never gotten this unit to work. Says to plug into laptop and modem then just launch the web browser to setup. When I hooked it up and launched a web browser, it gave me a blank web page. I connected thru the default IP and setup that way and it still wouldnt work. Pass on this device.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jeff,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products. On behalf of ASUS, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Since you mentioned that it is giving you a blank webpage have you tried connecting the laptop directly to the modem to see if there is a connection and also was there a power when you plug in the router? For further assistance, please email me at customerloyalty@asus.com and place the case #N150704739 in the subject line for a reference.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Best regards,

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for the price

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: Plugged in and has been running for months with no issues. The interface is fine and things are simple to set up. Has DDNS and VPN functionality built in, which is a huge plus. Was going to flash firmware to get those features, but no need. After doing a scan to find the optimal wireless channel for my area, the range is terrific.

The unit also has a pretty slim profile and is nice looking. It blends in well behind my tv.

Cons: Nothing really. Two antennas and a USB port to run a print server would be cool, but I'm not about to complain at this price point.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cheap router

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: Price. I got this router for $10 after rebate. I had a cisco valet that died and I replaced it with this. Works great and have had no connectivity issues since installing it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This does not have gig Ethernet or dual band or any fancy features but it is perfect for web browsing, playing gw2, and watching Netflix on more than 1 device.

2 out of 5 eggsYou Get What You Pay For

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: Price point. After rebate it was very inexpensive (ends up being like $9.49 out of pocket).

Appearance. It looks beautiful.

Router interface is very feature rich.

Cons: Connection quality is bad.

Replaced an older white netgear router, but connection speed and quality drops very often. Whereas I could stream as far away as to the bathroom on the netgear router, I get stuttering and eventual drop with this one.

I have a Desktop PC in the bedroom that I stream movies from to my Xbox 360 in the living room. The netgear handled most movies fine, unless they were super high bitrate (1080p blu-ray rips ~2.5 GB). This router won't even play 30 minute tv episodes (SD quality ~700MB) without buffering and loading.

Not sure if it is design or function, but I know the router is the weak point of my home network since things were working OK before installing it. I know what I'm doing I've assigned the 360 a static IP and opened the ports required, but didn't make much of a difference.

The wired operation is alright but overall I'm very disappointed in this wireless router's performance.

Other Thoughts: I have heard that people put Open Source firmware on this router... not sure but I will try it out. Maybe that will increase the performance...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value for the cost!

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: Easy to set up. Well engineered, Strong signal throughout my entire 3br ranch home.

Cons: Can't think of any since I bought it on Black Friday 2014.

Other Thoughts: It takes a licking and keeps on ticking! (Just like my old Timex watch) I just bought another one for my cabin up north.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little router

This review is from: ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: I like this router. It looks really nice (cute fake carbon fiber look on the top) and is very compact and sleek. It works really well, I haven't had any problems with it so far. Just plugged it in and went. The software access for it is easy to use as well.
And it wasn't expensive at all. :)

Cons: None that I can think of!

Other Thoughts: I will say it is just myself on my internet currently, so it may be a different experience for, say, a household of 4. But I have several devices connected to it and it works wonderfully for me.
