1 out of 5 eggsHopeless on Windows 10

Pros: Nothing yet

Cons: Lots of notification noise when plugged into USB on 2 Windows 10 machines but nothing installed. Occasionally shows up as USB Serial Device (COM3) but no file system visible and thus no software.

3 out of 5 eggsLimits in functionality, what it does it does well.

Pros: Small size, works well once set up.

Cons: Will not connect to networks with hidden SSID (verified this with ASUS).
Won't pass VLAN traffic.
Tiny password that you can't changed etched into the case.
Limited settings, so-so management GUI.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I travel extensively (I'm in Seattle as I write this) and some places charge :per device: for a connection - like the ES across the street from me that's $20 per device per day. Work will pay for me to connect my heavily firewalled and filtered laptop but not my personal devices. I thought this to be the magic bullet. Unfortunately, I learned that it won't pass traffic to my corporate VLAN and there's no port filtering settings to let you change that. I also need to connect some devices to an access point with a hidden SSID but this won't work. Finally, my middle-aged eyes are tortured every time I need to read the tiny pass code to log in to the router. Why in the name of Cthulu wouldn't they make it so you can set your own password? I do love the tiny size and Formosa occasions, once it's connected it keeps working - I just got back from Mexico where I set it up as soon as I got into the hotel and left it running for 8 days solid, never a problem. Still, I think it's time to sell it and get a more configurable router.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat lil gadget

Pros: I needed wifi for my room , this little guy did the trick . I bought 2 , one for a hot spot in my room , the other for old laptop w/ linux.(wifi card hates OS)
And I like it has built in password. Plug it in and type the secret code and go.

Cons: They get really warm. Could use a open ended case with heat sink inside.
One got super hot then quit working . a couple days later it functioned but gets laggy then messes with my wired router.
It smelled of hot plastic and fried silcone when it quit that day.

I was just using it while writing this to update my phone, started acting up again and was HOT.

Other Thoughts: Set up for use on my laptop was a little scetchy .Took awhile to figure it out how to navigate the menus for set up

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Travel Router and More

Pros: Small and ultra-portable (barely larger than a finger). Allows multiple devices to share a single wired or wireless signal. Easy to use. The ability to share a WiFi signal is the most impressive and useful feature to me. There are times I need to pay for a wireless connection and this device is really handy. This particular feature also allow me to use Chromcast (another great, tiny travel companion) in a hotel rooms that only has WiFi. Chromcast needs to be on the same wireless LAN as your phone to work and hotel WiFi can easily screw that up.

Cons: No hardware reset button. The robustness of the Windows application is questionable. Limited management features.

Other Thoughts: I've been using this almost on a daily basis. Even when I'm not traveling I use it in office to bypass the corporate firewall (it's a long story). At one point I thought I bricked the device. I could not connect to it and the Windows utility could not detect it nor communicate with it. There's no hardware reset button and there's nothing I could do. Contacted Asus and tech support got back to me within 24 hours suggesting that I RMA the unit. For whatever reason it started working again and I was happy.
The management feature is minimal. For a travel router this is not that much of problem. The first time I use it to connect to a 192.168.1.x WiFi network it was smart enough to change it's own subnet to 192.168.2.x. That's pretty impressive. There was no interface to specify settings like this though. I hope the router is smart enough to handle other situations and conflicts.
One more thing. I bought this on Neweggs. The spec implies that it come with a power supply but it really doesn't. Neweggs gave me a $5 refund for it.
I have the
Anyhow I love this tiny device. You can't go wrong with it. In fact I'll probably buy another one.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't upgrade firmware

Pros: Nice and small, perfect travel router. Multi-function will be nice to have if I can ever get a copy of the management software.

Cons: Management software (AsusLink) is only available on the device itself, not available from Worse, once you upgrade the firmware, the software (at least on Windows) no longer works, just crashes.

Didn't come with an AC adapter to make it a stand-alone router, so had to dig out an old iPhone charger.

Other Thoughts: Opened a case with Asus asking for a way to get the latest software, hopefully they will respond.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing does it all!

Pros: This thing does it all! I was quiet shocked when my brother in law showed me this before our trip to China. This thing has been a life saver for sure! I love how it's a router and it's so small and that it can do so much. Some hotels that we stay at in China don't have wifi but wired internet. With this you can turn that into a wifi hotspot. It's well worth 40$ if not more in my opinion. So I highly recommend this product if you're thinking about getting it. I bought this the first day it came out with no reviews whatsoever and it has been phenomenal!

Cons: Nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Solution for making tablet use a wire

Pros: Very easy to setup and use

Cons: doesn't spit out gold coins

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I often need to configured wired-only devices and wanted to use my Samsung Galaxy Note II to do it. This thing is dirt simple, and easily converts a wired-only connection to be wireless for a tablet. This piece bridges the gap between wireless-only devices and wired-only devices with ease, and adds hotspot functionality, and even wireless-to-wireless bridging. Great product for the price!
